Wanted to share my setup and ask for a little guidance.

I’ve got a flexible curtain rail in my garage ceiling with an Aonkey net suspended on curtain hooks. The whole net can slide out of the way when my wife or I need to use the gym or access storage, which has been super practical. I added a cheap impact screen to protect the netting (at ~$50, it’s a no-brainer to avoid tearing through the net).

My hitting setup uses a Rapsodo MLM2PRO, and the unit sits just under 16 feet from the screen which is almost exactly at spec. I cast from my iPad to a TV mounted just right of the hitting area. The TV is connected to my gaming PC (in my home office behind the garage wall), via wireless casting. I mostly use Rapsodo software (mostly range, target range, practice, with SOME courses sim stuff like Flushing Meadows Pitch and Putt and practicing shots on my local course), but I also use Awesome Golf for approach shot practice and the games for date nights with the wife.

I tried a cheap projector (à la Dub Golf style), but I couldn’t get enough screen tension without a rigid frame, and I kept blocking the image during swings. The large image looked cool, but overall it just wasn’t worth the hassle of permanent installation for a mediocre experience (unrealistic to expect too much from a $150 projector tbf)

The Big Question:

Now that GSPro officially supports Rapsodo, I’m super interested in trying it, mainly for things like:

  • Custom practice ranges (like Joe Lagowski's practice range)
  • Target green builds
  • Shot shape visualization and skills challenges

Has anyone used GSPro in a setup like mine?

Given that:

  • I have no projector
  • I'd be running GSPro from a PC in another room (but can cast to a TV and receives data from the LM without issue, somehow)
  • I’m mostly after the practice utility of GSPro rather than full-course simulation

Bonus Ask: Setup Feedback

We’re moving in about a year, and my wife’s already on board with a dedicated sim room (a Golftec lesson converted her 😅), so I’ve kept this setup budget-friendly. That said, I’d love to hear:

  • Any simple upgrades that might improve the experience
  • Ways to make this more GSPro-friendly
  • Whether a projector is really worth adding back in just for GSPro
  • How folks are making the most out of practicing with Rapsodo software, GSPro, or Awesome Golf

Photos attached, thanks in advance for any thoughts or ideas!

I started out with a cheap projector like that for about a year before upgrading to a decent one. For me it was worth buying a cheap ceiling mount and projecting it onto the screen so I didn’t have to look to the side after every swing. I was worried that could help weird habits to set in like shortening my follow through or something like that.

  2. I have the same projector I think. I just move it to the side on a stand and use the auto keystone correction, which gets a pretty good/square image. Works well enough for my budget/portable build. Still better than having to look behind or to the side to see the ball flight on your computer.

If you don’t have a high quality screen, it’s a waste to get an expensive projector.
