Tim Duncan after that great the big fundamental today we’re rewinding the career of one of the greatest NBA players and five-time NBA champion and Tim Duncan looking for the back door Steven Jackson and Tim Duncan for the win 3 seconds what Tim Duncan lacked in flash he more than made up for with an almost machinelike consistency yes the Spurs win at the buzzer the all the way by Tim Dugen over Carl Malone. Duncan was the centerpiece of the Spurs dynasty. Well, I got you. Obviously, he’s the greatest powerful forward ever. Oh, it almost looked like he passed it to himself. He did. That was amazing. He captured five titles. Tim Duncan has built a reputation for almost being a humble hero in some regards. The quiet superstar defensively. I mean, who’s going to come in the paint? You’re shutting the rim down. Five titles, three finals MVPs, two regular MVP awards, and 15 All-Star game appearances. This dude is the greatest power forward of all time. To Duncan, he gets double shack all over. He gets away a fatal. He makes it with four left. Unbelievable. Unbelievable. Fade away jumps up the wrong leg. 12 21 for Duncan, eight in the period. Just inside the arc. Regarded by most as one of the greatest players in NBA history. The San Antonio Spurs are your world champions. Made this franchise nothing but a winning franchise. Um, one of the rarities uh in pro sports to have five championships and it all because of him. Rebound and a scaric debi known for his quiet leadership, unmatched consistency and masterful fundamentals. Duncan redefined excellence on and off the court. Duncan grew up in the US Virgin Islands. He was a star swimmer who had aims at an Olympic run. This is where Tim lived. This is where he grew up as a child until he left to go to college. However, Hurricane Hugo destroyed the only Olympic size training pool in the area in 1989. [Music] Not much escaped Hugo’s path of destruction. One casualty meant everything to a certain young swimmer. Duncan was a swimmer as a youngster. Coach, the story about Duncan is he only began playing basketball after a hurricane destroyed the public swimming pool. So Tim would leave swimming behind and take up basketball. Tim took to basketball like a fish to water. Ninth grade. It was just something to do and started uh really teaching me how to play. It helped that he sprouted 8 in his senior year, growing to just a hair under 7 ft tall. Timmy committed to Wake Forest and immediately became a national star. I’ll add to this. I I’ll say that he’s the best player I’ve seen in person. I don’t think I ever saw him have a bad game. A sponge for basketball knowledge, Duncan’s game improved year after year. Duncan unstoppable. my money, Tim Duncan is the very best. Tim went on to become a star at Wake Forest University. I said, “You have a tendency to keep people in a game.” Uh, he was just one of those guys you could count on. He was so good at every phase of the game. Hello. Hello. He’s the three man. He’s incredible. He’s indescribable. He’s incomparable. Tell you one thing, you talk about Duncan as we look at his numbers right now as his freshman sophomore and his junior year. Unbelievable as they’ve gotten better. He was a threetime defensive player of the year, two-time ACC player of the year. [Music] They want the little and national player of the year in his senior season. Tim Duncan got another A+. I’ll tell he’s the doctor who hoopology, Mike, when you talk about playing in the lane. He had 23 points, 16 rebounds, eight assists. He did it all on New Year’s Eve. Worked so hard. He was just ready to play every night. He graduated ready and prepared for the NBA game after playing all four seasons in college. The Spurs were statistically likely to select sixth overall, but as fate would have it, they hit the NBA lottery and won the first pick in the 1997 NBA draft goes to the San Antonio Spurs. Congratulations. First pull off a miracle in the 1997 draft lottery and snag Mr. fundamental who forever changes the franchise. Up until the time he was 14 years old, Tim Duncan was a worldclass swimmer in the Virgin Islands. He’s now, as he says, a point guard deceptively packaged as a forward center. With the first pick in the 1997 NBA draft, the San Antonio Spurs select Tim Duncan from Wake Forest University. So, you get this massive piece to the puzzle with the number one overall pick in Tim Duncan. Big Tim. Yeah. Amazing. I mean, what’s that like for you as as the big man? Yeah. In San Antonio and now there’s another big man in San Antonio. I was down on my knees just saying, “Thank you, Lord. Oh my God, that thank you so much.” San Antonio was buzzing with anticipation for the new season. There was no doubt that Duncan would be wearing the silver and black, but the question that lingered was, “What would his impact be?” Duncan would be paired with legend David Robinson, and the two would become known as the Twin Towers. How you going to play? Cut off the middle. Uh-huh. A lot of what we’ve kind of shared is is how to approach the game. You know, he’s got that right mentality. He doesn’t get down. He knows that, you know, playing next to me, a lot of that pressure is off of him. He doesn’t have to be Mr. Superstar every night. It was October the 31st of 1997, Halloween night, the season opener in Denver, Colorado. San Antonio Spurs, Tim Duncan. You look at Tim Duncan right there and you say he was totally disinterested. I guarantee you that is not the case. I think Jerry, a lot of people have been impressed as we have that he plays with a maturity that belies the young players that seem to typify the NBA game. Here’s Robinson inside. No foul. You got to be kidding me. And now a foul is called and it’s on. With two Hall of Fame caliber big men playing together with minimal ego, the Spurs were instantly transformed into a powerhouse. Misses him. There’s Duncan with a rebound. Duncan walked into the NBA ready for prime time. Look at the big man David Robinson run. He was wrapped up from behind by Yogi Stewart, but he had great opportunities. Coach Greg Papovich ran the perfect scheme to capitalize on the dynamics of Duncan and Robinson. 11. Robinson with the steel. He’s got Anderson all the way. What a move by David Robinson. The Twin Towers. That’s what they they called you guys. Not the most original nickname of all time. It’s been thrown around. It’s been used before in other instances, but that’s what you were. Tim Duncan’s genius can be attributed to another one of the NBA’s elite, his own teammate, David Robinson. The Spurs saw one of the all-time great turnarounds. Lonnie Williams had Marshall right with him. See the pick and roll because Duncan, he’ll roll with the best of them. The first question everybody wants answered is, is Tim Duncan the real deal? He is uh the real deal as advertised. Very skilled, great demeanor, great approach to the game, loves to play. All he wants to do is play and get better. He’s blended into the team very well. So everybody is Yeah. And what what does having two big guys like that allow an offense to do other than the obvious, which you’ve got two huge Yeah. Well, the the good thing for us was having two guys who could actually shoot the ball as well. He was so good for so long just because of his nickname, the big fundamental. He had all of the fundamentals from every facet. You can see he’s involved in the game. That’s why everyone is so excited about Tim Duncan, his presence in San Antonio and here in the NBA. It really kind of spread our offense out so well that, you know, who do you guard? I mean, what do you do? Um, we we played inside and out really well. So, I it it just put a lot of pressure on teams. leads Robinson and David. He can get to that third and fourth move. Um he can use both hands. He could go all he can use that bank shot off the glass especially early on in his career. Versile Robinson and Duncan became just the eighth pair of teammates to each average 20 points and 10 rebounds a game. [Applause] Oh it almost looked like he passed it to himself. He did. That was amazing cuz you know either one of us could post up, either one of us could play at the elbow, play outside. Um, you know, Pop did a phenomenal job of really taking advantage of that size. Tim Duncan, they really raved over this kid. Has a complete package. Take a look at this move. Look at the spin lane. Quick move. Oh, that was sweet. Got off to such an excellent start. So, he’s been a dream for them. They’re very happy with him. Now they’re just learning to play together, the two of the superstars. Oh man, what a finish. These guys came out and were tenacious every game going after every loose ball, going after rebounds. Even as a rookie, defenses feared Duncan. Here, both defenders cheat toward Duncan, leaving Robinson with the open lane. And then defensively, I mean, who’s going to come in the paint? You’re shutting the rim down. And so uh so it put our defense in a good spot. The Spurs had become a historically dominant defense. That day, the Spurs defense dominated like never before, holding the Pacers to the lowest point total since the inception of the shot clock, 55 points. Spurs setting an NBA record, the best turnaround, and using a stifling defense, the best the league has ever seen. They’re savvy on the road against one of the upand cominging teams in the NBA. The fun police, otherwise known as the Minnesota Timberwolves, Kevin Garnett. Duncan came into the league during a golden age for big men. Duncan with the finish. He has the first. He was routinely pitted against other future legends such as Kevin Garnett. Duncan wasn’t just getting consideration for rookie of the year, but most valuable player as well, in which he finished fifth in the ballot. Duncan became the first rookie since Larry Bird to make the AllNBA first team. 21 times this year, Robinson and Duncan had double doubles. The two players that set the tone undoubtedly were David Robinson and Tim Duncan. A combo that again made the Spurs one of the elite teams in the NBA. It was one of the greatest rookie campaigns in NBA history. Duncan was Duncan was going to have the dunk. Giving him the free throw by being dunked on. Probably not the best. Perhaps the biggest testament to his impact was the fact that he led the league in double doubles with 57, 10 more than the closest player. Duncan and Robinson started a total of 21 games together. And in that stretch, the Spurs went 16 and five. He was named an all-star and made the AllNBA first team. What a block by Duncan. They got him again. Hot Rod got blocked three times in a row. A feat only he and Larry Bird had accomplished. I saw the competitiveness just from the jump. Just because Tim Duncan wasn’t yelling or cursing didn’t mean he didn’t have that fire. He did all the tough things to compete. Of course, we had the biggest turnaround in NBA history. Tim Duncan came in and of course approved himself to be the rookie of the year. The season culminated with a rookie of the year award for young Duncan. In games one, they improved by 36 games. And the big standing ovation you’re hearing is for the NBA Rookie of the Year this year, Tim Duncan. And he’s being presented that award, that trophy. Now, he led the NBA in double doubles this season. He had double doubles in that scoring and rebounding in double figures in 57 of his 82 games. He’s getting a much richly deserved standing ovation here as the NBA Rookie of the Year, former Wake Forest All-American. If indeed the best is yet to come, then the league better watch out. Tim Duncan was rookie of the year and named to the AllNBA first team. He and David Robinson were all stars. When we drafted Tim Duncan, I invited him to my home to get ready for the season. He was learning so much. That doesn’t count. You were out. The roses are out, Timmy. Not the day. His rookie season had been extraordinary, but his sophomore effort was an improvement in every way. Now Duncan on the angle. Oh boy. Tim Duncan. You know, he’s greatest spur of all time. You know, obviously people say he the greatest power forward of all time. Um, I say in his era, he definitely was the greatest power forward in his era. Oh, look at this to start the fourth quarter. Tim Duncan. I think that’s what impresses most of us is he’s a guy even if he’s not scoring big, he’s going to rebound or assist, defend. Some nights he’s going to score big, but uh just lets his game speak for him. Not a lot of uh silliness. He was unquestionably the best player on the team and possibly the league. And now they’re back down five. Here’s Duncan now to the left block. He likes the side a little better where go with a right hand jump hook across the lane. That time, no double. You do something your whole life and you show him how to do it in 10 minutes. He’s better than you. And that proved to pan out. All he needed was a season or two in the NBA and then he was better than everybody else. Duncan against Thunderbird. As a rookie, he had shared the lead dog roll with David Robinson. Jump goes for Tim Duncan. Duncan now with 22 points. It was Duncan’s team. Is he the best player in the league? He is to me. He’s the most complete player. In a lockout shorten season, the Spurs cruised to the top seat in the playoffs. Kevin Garnett, the T-Wolves young star. He’s been telling everybody, “We’re going to shock the world by beating the San Antonio.” To me, we hit you in phrases. Got you almost. This the worst right here. Nice try. Kevin Garnett thumping his chest. David Robinson emotionless right now with the tip in the back court. Won by the San Antonio Spurs. Duncan’s bank shot would become his signature weapon. You got a call window. Tim Duncan with the lost arc. The bank shot from a wicked angle 15 ft. He reached the postseason every single year he was in the league. 19 seasons of understated excellence. Taking a shot and handed right to Robinson. releasing his delic finds Duncan trailing slam. But really, what really really really pissed me off is when the trash talk wasn’t affecting him. So now you spending all this energy trying to ri us up. You know, forgot about your own game. You forgot about they coming to you that you supposed to. And then that’s when I actually went quit talking trash to Timmy cuz he wouldn’t respond or he wasn’t giving me the reaction I was getting. Garnett and the T-Wolves were no match for Duncan and Robinson. Oh, San Antonio won the series three games to one. They moved on to face the upstart Shaq and Kobe Lakers. Shaquille O’Neal has two assists in the entire series. It was a series of Shaq versus Duncan. Duncan with the hook with both men being almost unstoppable inside. Unstoppable once he gets it there. Duncan off the glass. You get the two points there. He misses the two free throws and then he makes sure on the dunk. Duncan does some dunking plus he picks up the foul. He runs the floor every possession whether he gets the ball or not. The Lakers put up some tremendous fight, but the Spurs swept them and moved on to the finals. Starting at one forward, seven foot from Wake Forest University, number 21, Tim Duncan. In the finals, they’d face the New York Knicks. Duncan in just his second season. He was arguably the best player in the league. Returns it to Duncan. [Music] Turn around in the lane. The entire series felt like a coronation for both the Spurs and Duncan. Pretty well has taken the ball to the basket twice on a fast break and a block on this one. Taking it to the again to the to the basket and gets a block. Duncan off the glass. How frightening it is. This guy has played one year and 50 games in the NBA and he’s already the best player in the league. How frightening and the future for this young guy. The Spurs headed to New York looking to close the series out in game five. Game five, the San Antonio Spurs versus the New York. With a well-rounded and fundamentally sound skill set, Duncan was a cheat code. In the playoffs, Duncan was a monster [Music] from 20 ft. Tim Duncan is per game one. Duncan against Thomas. [Music] The clocks above each basket are off and the corner clocks which have been rolled off the floor are on. Duncan spins and hits off the glass. He’s almost too good. [Music] [Applause] Ward. [Applause] The San Antonio Spurs have won their first NBA championship. [Music] It was a feel-good moment for the long career of David Robinson, who finally got a ring. In just his second year, Tim Duncan was an NBA champion and finals MVP, who averaged 27 points and 14 rebounds to be the most valuable player of the 1999 NBA Finals, Tim Bucket. [Applause] for Duncan a title in only his second year. And tonight he scored 31 points, pulled down nine rebounds, hit 12 of 22 from the floor. [Music] [Applause] Tim Duncan came into the league the same time as Kobe Bryant. Tim Duncan has never won less than 50 games in any season except the lockout shortened season when there were only 50 games in a season. Unfortunately, Duncan suffered a torn meniscus before the playoffs the following season. Now, you can see Duncan is smarty. You know, he labored on his way down the floor when he hit the floor. the Spurs wouldn’t get a chance to defend their title. Very close, Bruce says, to signing Duncan in the summer of 2000 when T-Mac and Grant Hill both joined the team. Bruce said that Magic head coach Doc Rivers denied Tim’s request during the negotiations that his family could join the team playing on some flights to games. And that is when Rivers lost. Tim Duncan, who could have played next to you, Tracy, in Orlando. Here’s the first match up tonight. Duncan and Weber doubled by Williams. Duncan returned from injury. The first shot goes in. Oh, Duncan got great position. This guy is everything that you want in a basketball player this season. Duncan’s numbers grew and he was again looking like an MVP. We have a game within the game. Two of the great players in the NBA. Well, you can see it right there. They played seven playoff games. San Antonio has won. This is just nothing short of phenomenal. Since this man has arrived on the scene for the San Antonio Spurs, they have consistently for more than 15 years been a contender. And now five on the shot clock. Handles can’t go anywhere. Anywhere. And Duncan with one second puts it up and scores off the glass. And then when you look at his numbers, 22 and five assists, he’s had a fantastic year. He has. But the trail has come to an end for the Minnesota Timberwolves who have been eliminated by the San Antonio. The Spurs would run into a buzzsaw in LA. At home and then come from behind to win the He’s amongst the greatest alltime players in NBA history in the ’90s. He’s second though to Kobe Bryant. Kobe Bryant for three lead. Duncan pushed the dynastic Lakers to a game seven. From three-point land, Duncan draws the foul. A reaching foul with the rebound. Looks like Jerry Porter tried to guide that one. But by now, Shaq and Kobe were in full force and no one was getting past them in the West. [Applause] In the O2 season, Duncan elevated his game to new heights. Frank, thank you. Our referees tonight, Joe D. Rosa, Michael Smith, and you don’t win as much as he and the Spurs did for as long as they did without an inner fire that maybe we didn’t always see. He was an excellent facilitator. And though free throws weren’t his strongest weapon, they were far from a weakness. He’s got 21. He’s got 10 and a quarter and 35 for the game. Week in and week out, Duncan faced the best big men of the era. Let’s clear out for TD against Nitzki. He got the contact. Gets it again. Five on Nitzki. Duncan to the line already with 36. In a time where Shaq and Garnett were in their prime. It was Tim Duncan who would put up the best season. Huge possession for the Spurs. Those guys can always be linked from your era, but also in their greatness. In the clutch, Duncan was ice cold. Trying to front him out of the play. Doesn’t make it. He dropped 53 on Durk, including the OT gamewinner. Count it. He’ll go to the line looking for the three-point play. Duncan season earned him recognition as the best player in the league. MVP. President Peter Holt presents the 2002 NBA most valuable player award to our own Tim Duncan. Tim is one of six players in NBA history to be named all NBA first team in each of his first five seasons. Congratulations Tim Duncan, NBA valuable player. The next season, David Robinson announced he’d be retiring after the year. Coming into this year, I knew this was going to be my last year. I just knew it. You know, obviously, I didn’t know what the outcome was going to be, but right from the get-go, I knew this, hey, if this was going to be my last go round, I was going to make it good. This would be the final ride for the Twin Towers. It was it it was some great basketball being played. I I think that’s for me that’s when that’s when I was asked for help. I remember that. Yeah, that’s that that’s when Tim really took it to another level. First staying in it with the three-point field goals. Looking for the back door. Steen Jackson and Tim Duncan for the win. 3 seconds. Yes, the Spurs win at the buzzer. The fall away by Tim Dugen over Carl Malone. What a great play. I mean, Carl Malone did a pretty good job of keeping him off the deep box. That was not an easy shot for anybody. And he just turned around and drilled that thing like it had eyes. I broke a sweat over it. A perfect picture. Youth from different corners of the world. Bringing talent and exuberance shown the ways of winning by veteran examples of perseverance. Though Robinson was on his way out, the Spurs now had a young Tony Parker in his second season as well as a rookie Manu Ginobi. [Applause] Here we go. Robinson and Garnett with the opening tip. He has been playing the last two weeks. She puts that down. Oh, good feet. KG was challenging for the title of the best big in the game. Their matches often provided fireworks, bringing out the very best in them. Duncan floats in another one. Tim Duncan four for four from the field. Shooting three-pointers. He’s second in the league. on the spin lob. Garnett puts it down [Applause] with a lob underneath to Duncan. Parker feeding Duncan was becoming a lethal combination. [Applause] It doesn’t matter. 18 for Duncan. They’re just too good. And Genobi was getting more and more playing time. Chernobyl caught from behind by Peer but into the hands of Duncan for the jam. Time and again Garnett’s T-Wolves fell to the Spursy out on the floor. Spurs now with a lot of shooters out there. Perr has joined the group. Genobi into Duncan. 7 seconds. [Applause] goes back at his own miss and kisses it down. [Applause] 20sec timeout and that’s just a guy who wants it off the mark and the Spurs come in for Orlando and steal one. We bestow with the title superstar. One man earns the title simply. He evolves, he improves, he dominates without TV commercial hype or histrionics, just grace. Tim Duncan’s 2003 season ranks among the most dominant years ever. Duncan locked up his second consecutive MVP that season. Congratulations, Tim Duncan. 2002 2003 NBA most valuable player. In the playoffs, the Spurs looked to send David Robinson off with another title. 2003, we played in the Western Conference semis. Um, and we ended our run. Remember that? Oh, I remember that. Like I’ve never seen nobody play like that, you know, especially against Shaq. Standing in their way was Kobe and Shaq. [Applause] Duncan has come alive. Tim figured me out. I used to do this little trick thing with Tim where when I would guard Tim puts it down. I always want him to go to the middle so I can have my hand on his hip. And it was a little trick I would do. And so the next year Tim started facing me. I’m like, I can’t do my trick now. Here’s Duncan again against Ory and the dish underneath D. I can’t grab my one and was just hitting shots. I mean, the dude was on a mission. MVP Duncan put on a clinic and outplayed Shaq. Duncan finds the handle and scor. You can’t stop him. You can throw everybody at him and then, you know, feel like, oh, we going to throw Shaq at. Uh, he too quick for Shaq, bro. He start doing hooks and little runners on Shaq. swept the Lakers during the regular season. They were up 2. The Lakers battled back to 2-2, but then it was San Antonio on Tuesday. And tonight, they do it in dramatic fashion over the three-time defending champion Lakers. How did you come up with that kind of performance? Uh knew they were going to come out here with this home crowd and give a great effort. Uh they want to push it to seven. These guys have been to uh had so much experience the last three years. We didn’t want to take it to seven with these guys. one of them tonight. At last, the Lakers were beaten and the Spurs road to a title was wide open to game one. It’s the New Jersey Nets, the number two seed from the East against the San Antonio Spurs, the number one seed from the West. In the finals, the Spurs took on the New Jersey Nets. The chance to say goodbye and thank you to David Robinson one last time. Duncan was a monster and the series was a one-sided beatd down. Harris blocked by Duncan. Just absolutely fabulous against Detroit. Johnson [Music] Duncan puts it in and again a chance to have Parker on the pick and roll. Back to Duncan. knocks it down outside. 12 points, 12 rebounds for the big Duncan with Martin. Not his hit. Duncan, another tough shot. Eight this quarter. 16 for the game. The play to their weaknesses. [Applause] Duncan and he’s the fans erupted into cheers for their Spurs. [Applause] Everybody thanking number 15. This whole city’s Mr. Robinson’s neighborhood. Trust me, if he’s not an MVP, he’s an MAP. The most admired person. The San Antonio Spurs are your world champions. David Robinson received a proper sendoff, walking off into the sunset, a twotime champion. [Music] Duncan was finals MVP again and unquestionably the best player in the league. Congratulations, Tim Duncan. Where are you, David? [Applause] The celebration went on all summer. This is the paper that’s already out with your MVP on the front. Just one word, Tim Duncan glory. The city said goodbye to Robinson as a new era of Spurs basketball took over. This era would be dominated by Manu Parker and the big fundamental Tim Duncan. I used to get so frustrated playing against Tim Duncan cuz I could not figure him out. Is he the player you did not want to play? Like he was like the most difficult guard. Tim like he I couldn’t figure him out. What Tim Duncan lacked in Flash, he more than made up for with an almost machine-like consistency. It took them a year to really get rolling. Big Thunder missed the big fundamentals. Gave me like 14 straight points and then hit me on the butt and say, “You going to be okay.” I was like, “Man, don’t touch. Don’t root for me. I bust my ass.” That was the thing about Tim. You can’t even be mad at him. He was such a nice guy. You can’t even get yourself where you want to fight. To Duncan, he gets double shack all over him. He gets away. [Music] Heat. Heat. the long way. 21 for Duncan. Eight in the period just inside the arc. I couldn’t figure him out. And it was just like no matter how much strength I put into it or or or how much I shuffled or how hard it was. It was just like blast. Yeah. Inside Duncan. Great movement and the left hand. Jim with two on the shot clock. I heard he would like pat you on your butt like good reason right like bro talk some bro I I that’s meaner right by the 2005 season the spurs were back in control of the west puts him in his torture chamber to shoot he was the best player on both ends with candy again Duncan knocks it away spurs with the lead 65 salmon comes in to replace Tim Duck with the block of Iverson but rebound in a scarabic udri back to Tim. They became known for their teamwork and ball movement. Incredibly well coached. They were a level above most other teams. [Applause] [Music] Going to hit. Let’s see if we make a good hard cut. They can guard you against Detroit because we we had to go uh to a seventh game against them. One of the great turnarounds in NBA history in a game you can see in high definition. It’s back in the finals again. This time facing off against the Pistons. It was common for casuals to overlook Duncan’s game as boring. Shooting is picked up after that great start. [Applause] Oh, Timmy’s legendary bank shot had become an unstoppable weapon. These finals served as a reminder that despite not being as flashy as some other players, Tim Duncan was the best player in the league. [Music] Starts in all the way in. That was so close to the shot. Late in game seven, Duncan and Manu took over. Duncan. The wind cemented Duncan’s place among the alltime great. And the San Antonio Spurs with tough, tough, tough defense. and Tim Duncan answering a lot of questions and erasing any doubt about coming up big when you have to come up big. And for the third time in seven seasons, the San Antonio Spurs are the NBA champions. He was now a threetime champion and a threetime finals MVP. [Music] 13 rebounds and nine block shots. Incredible. I didn’t realize how great a defender he really is. We’re in his second Allstar season. Nothing. Nice fake. Gets inside the left. You had to face it. Why was he so good for so long? Duncan inside. Oh, Duncan comes right back. There were times when you could play him perfectly. He could still get his shot off. department one time guarding him, measured me with his shoulder and got his little shot off the glass and he was like, “That’s really good defense, man. I I I was just able to get to my third move.” And that’s what made him so good. In 2007, the Spurs would find themselves in the finals yet again. Cavs certainly don’t want to end what’s been a terrific season by getting stepped in the facing off against a young LeBron James. The Spurs were heavily favored to win their fourth ring. Oh, James on the slurs are NBA champions once again. Their fourth title in nine years. It was a clean sweep for Duncan and the Spurs and a fourth title for San Antonio. [Applause] Great job. These guys, this is going to be your league in a little while, but uh I appreciate you getting this here after that great start. Oh, he played in six finals total, winning five and securing three finals MVPs. Puts it down. He was a 15time all-star and a twotime league MVP. Spurs staying in it with a three-point field goal. He’s universally regarded as one of the greatest players in NBA history. and Tim Duncan for the win. 3 seconds. What Tim Duncan lacked in flash, he more than made up for with an almost machinelike consistency. Tim Duncan. Yes, the Spurs win at the buzzer. The follow away by Tim Duncan over Carl. Sadly, during the making of this video, I had an accident and injured my hand badly. Uh, I’m I’m fine, but it took a few weeks before I could return to work in a normal manner. That’s why this video is ending here. I definitely will revisit this video and complete it in its entirety in the future. Sorry, and thanks for understanding. Nobody brings it home like Joe is. Nobody. Make it so.

  1. I think it really helped Duncan to have a star, in this case, like Robinson who is a good guy and unselfish who helped him grow. You nailed it, minimal ego!

  2. Yesssirrr!! Love your work bro!

Please do one for Manu Ginobili please and thank you 💪🏾🙏🏾

  3. People forget… that Spurs dynasty is arguably the greatest dynasty in all of North American pro sports history. 1989 and 2019 (31 seasons) they missed the playoffs only once. Winning 5 chips over their peak 15 years. During Magic, Bird, Bad Boys, Jordan, Olajuwon, Stockton & Malone, Shaq & Kobe, Lebron & Wade, was the San Antonio Spurs winning 60+

  4. I'm a Larry Bird fanboy, and wouldnt be too butthurt getting Timmy instead of Bird in a fantasy situation.

  5. I wouldn't love the game of basketball if it wasn't for Tim Duncan Mj is the goat but Duncan will Forever be my Favorite player

  6. Hey Lefalco fans this is what greatness looks like. He retired with Five Championship Wins not just appearing and bragging about failing. And no even tho LeBron had the most All-star teammates, Timmy toke advantage of who he had and the opportunity to be the best. It's ok when kids say stupid thing like LeBron is great, but when you're an adult for Lefalco to be your guy it just screams mental health issues 😂😂😂.

  7. The Spurs and the Big Fundamental never got the big recognition because despite winning 5 titles they never went back-to-back.

  8. Tim Duncan 🏆🐐🎯🙏🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆

  9. For anyone wondering, the Spurs did not win the game on that shot at 1:30 despite there only being 0.4 seconds left😅
