[Music] Hey everyone, Kyle here. Welcome to Golf Untap. And in this video, we’re going to be taking a look at Ping’s new Moonlander carry bag. Let’s do it. So, if you’re new to the channel, first off, welcome. Thank you so much for clicking on the video. I’m just a guy who absolutely loves golf and makes YouTube videos down here in my garage about things I find interesting. And in this case, we came across the Moonlander lightweight carry bag from Ping. And everything kind of has to have a story. I recently went on a trip to Hilton Head. Absolutely beautiful. I played Heron Point and I got a walking caddy with me. It’s the first time I ever did anything like that and it was a really cool experience. But when I got there, they said, “Hey, I I think your bag might be a little bit too heavy. Uh, we’re going to go ahead and swap out, you know, your clubs for a lighter bag.” In my daily carry, like I absolutely love to walk the golf course, but I’m also at that age and where my body is like, “Hey, this kind of freaking hurts all the time.” And it kind of got me thinking, maybe my golf bag is too heavy. Maybe I maybe I should look into lighting this thing up. And who better to do it with ping and a welltimed marketing ad in the old email inbox for their new Moonlander bag. So, we’re going to um go through this bag, have a look at it, and then ultimately swap everything over that I think needs to fit in here, weigh them, and then uh do some encourse review with it, too. So, first off, let’s have a look at the bag. We went with just traditional black. We kind of got a theme going on with our clubs lately, aside from one of them over there. And we are all blacked out. Traditional four-way top here. It does look pretty small, and we will be putting 14 clubs in it. So, we’ll see how that works with pulling clubs in and out and all that stuff when we do our Encourse Walkabout. Bag kind of hanger here for rangefinder, towels, brushes, umbrella loop there. It does come with a rain hood as well and a little pouch here on the outside. Um, we have what looks like to be kind of like a valuables pouch right there. It’s not felt line though. It’s just still kind of the same material as the bag. Um, carrying handle. Good sturdy carrying handle. You have a landing spot here for your Velcro on your glove to kind of put it on the bag if you want. Other exterior pouches. Longer side here. Pretty deep. Looks like you can probably fit some waterproofs in there if you really want to. Um, you have a lanyard for your keys, it looks like. And there’s also a uh more kind of stretchy pouch in there as well if you want to maybe keep something a little bit more secure inside that pouch. That’s that’s pretty nice. Pretty deep pocket. You have a long water bottle holder here. Looks like it can fit a pretty deep good size water bottle. It’s stretchy as well, too. So, probably good size bottle. I already put that magnet there. I was toying with something a little bit earlier. Other side of the bag, we have another longer pouch here. Again, pretty good size pouch. Probably can fit some good amount of stuff in there. Another kind of Well, that’s just the mesh that stretches it out. So, there’s no other pocket inside this pocket. And then finally, you have one last pouch here on the outside kind of a thing. Probably put balls and whatnot in that one. So, as as far as the straps go, we have it set up right now as a double strap. So, two straps. I think you can convert this to a single strap if you want to. I most definitely will not be doing that. I’ll leave it as the double strap. And then, yeah, stand back. See how it deploys. Pop. Yeah, just fine. I guess all that’s left to do now is kind of figure out what we want to take out of here and uh put it in here. So, we got the new bag all set up. And I tell you what, I’m really liking the way it’s looking. Now, it’s not a complete onetoone comparison. You know, we did edit out some stuff that I don’t think we really need to be carrying every single day. And the goal is to save weight, but I tell you what, it’s kind of like, you know, when you’re going on vacation and you tell your significant other that you have extra room in your suitcase, how that always kind of tends to get filled up. I think that’s kind of how it works with some of these bigger golf bags. Not only do they weigh a little bit more, but there’s more pockets. They’re bigger pockets and things just kind of find their way into those golf bags all the time. But initial impressions, it feels really nice. It’s a lot lighter than the previous bag. I’ll tell you that. And hey, what do you think? Bag drip? Does it look good? How we looking? Comment below. Hot or not? I don’t know. Yeah, we actually did weigh the two of them. The differences between how I had it before and how I was carrying it before to, you know, what I’m going to be wearing now. So, you’ll be seeing that on the screen right now. And it’s got to be a significant amount. I can tell you that just just from feeling it here. More testing on this on the course coming at you now. Pulling clubs out, playing around, logging some miles with the new Moonlander golf bag. So that’s coming at you now. We’ll see you out there on the course. Okay. Well, we spent some good quality time with our Ping Moonlander carry bag. Roughly eight rounds played, which my course is about an 8 and 1/2 mile walk. So, we’re talking like around 69 miles uh walked or so with this thing on our bag. And first off, I just have to say it feels so good to just be walking the course and carrying a bag again. I have a remote buggy that I used previously and it’s all fun and techy and all that good stuff, but I don’t know, there’s just something about carrying your bag that I just prefer. I might be weird, I don’t know. And even one of those days we did 36 holes. So we had a gap in front of us, had some extra time, and we just kept pushing. Played 36 holes that day with this on our back the entire time. And my L4 and L5 survived, and I was actually functioning the next day just fine. So I think that’s a big win in itself. But that’s to say that this bag obviously isn’t perfect, right? It’s a small lightweight carry bag and that does come with some sacrifices because ultimately, you know, it’s a small diameter at the bottom. My clubs have the MC uh plus4 grips on there and even still from time to time I have to play the, you know, the club jiggle to get them down or in or out of the bag. You know, it’s just something that you’re going to have to live with. Um especially when they’re kind of sitting at the 45 degree angle. Sometimes they just kind of get stuck in there pretty good and you got to got finagling of getting in there. It’s just it is what it is. When you have a smaller diameter bag, it’s just something that you kind of got to live to deal with. Ultimately, you kind of find a system that works for you. One thing that I do wish that the bag had initially, which I kind of found a workound, was just some type of landing area like while you’re wearing the bag within your hands reach to do things, right? So, what I like to do, and I kind of made a system here, is I put my rangefinder on a hanging magnet here, and then I, you know, put some Velcro on my rangefinder as well. So, that way, you know, as I’m, you know, walking down the course, I’m approaching my ball, I can, you know, get my glove off. I can get my glove ready. Then, I get my distance to the hole. Bang. Boom. We’re ready to go there. Then, since it’s always generally easier to get the clubs out of the bag when it’s standing upright, I know what club I’m going to hit. I can get it out of the bag. And even still there, you can see I had to kind of get that one out. Then I can go, you know, get hit my shot. Boom. And then we’re ready to pick up and go on. So, we get the club back in and we move on. Happy days. So, as far as it carries, it it carries really well. Like I said, I played 36 holes in one day. You know, it felt great. It still feels lightweight even picking it up now. And I feel like it’s even gotten better since I’ve carried cuz I’ve, you know, I’ve gotten used to it. One of the things that I’ve read online that people are kind of not too happy about is that here on kind of the backside, there’s not really any type of like landing area or foam or anything for where the bag kind of impacts your, you know, lower back and hip area. For me, not really much of an issue. You know, I feel like it sits comfortably. I feel like I have it, you know, strapped and weighted very well to where, you know, it’s evenly distributed. And having foam right there, I don’t feel for me makes that big of a difference. You know, it hasn’t really bothered me. I feel like it sits comfortably and with my documented back issues on on some of these videos, I think it’s okay. But that’s just me. So, you know, take that for what it’s worth. Um, other things, too, the storage on there seems fine. The uh first day I actually took it out, it was raining pretty hard and yeah, I had enough room in the bag to keep my waterproof jacket in there. And I was actually really, you know, low-key impressed with the rain hood. It was very easy to put on. Probably the best rain hood I’ve used, you know, in my golf bag history of this one. It was very easy to put on. It’s lightweight. It’s easy to get the clubs in and out and manipulate it. So, it it was a success. I was pleasantly surprised by the rain hood. So, that worked out really well, too. And ultimately from there, you know, this bag did exactly what I wanted it to do, and that’s allowing me to get out there, get on the course, get my steps in, carry, get a little bit better fitness in, and uh yeah, just enjoy my golfing experience a little bit more. So, yeah, it’s a it’s a good bag. I don’t know what else to say about a golf bag but than that.

Do you think this bag could easily ride in the back of a cart? Also with midsize grips do you think 13 clubs would fit? I ride most rounds, walk sometimes, and I’m looking for a very lightweight simple bag with limited pocket space
