Road to Mallorca Ranking: 96↗️53
Vince van Veen climbed 43 places in the Rankings with a third-place finish last week.
With the leading 68 players heading to China for back-to-back events next month and the top 45 then qualifying for the Rolex Grand Final, there’s all to play for.
Yeah, very pleased. Um, I felt like it was a long time coming in a way because I did play myself up in a position for for a good finish. But, you know, on this level sometimes you kind of need to figure out how to pull it off. And I think the yeah, the lessons learned definitely helped me uh last week to to continue to play that well. I think the form is already there, but you know, in this game, everybody can hit the ball, but uh yeah, you just have to stick to what you’re doing here. And I think sometimes with uh yeah, with all the good players around, you’re kind of distracted in a way and looking too much at what other guys are doing in a final round and that way you get distracted from your own game and not not continue to do your own thing. I mean, I spend a lot of time on breath work on tournaments, so I think that for me is just really important. uh you know going forward by by doing that because it actually relaxes me a little bit more into shots and uh I think also you know while playing you have all sorts of thoughts uh but it’s whether you take those poor ones seriously or not and I think by accepting the way uh you are thinking so sometimes there might be a thought of oh you know I don’t want to I don’t want to go right trying to focus on what you actually want to do and um yeah when you get more into that you in more sort of a flow state which is helping me to execute better and gaining confidence from that too. Sometimes when I get a little bit amped up or get a little bit adrenaline in the system, I just want to make sure that I’m still breathing from the stomach and not too high because when it goes too high, I get a little bit locked up around the shoulders and not making a free move. So, um yeah, it goes in bits and pieces. It’s not like I spend hours on it, but uh I usually do like 10 10 to 15 minutes a day. Uh it’s either while reading a book uh or just laying down on the bed with no screen and and nothing. So just in a quiet room. Yeah. Trying to relax. Past week was one huge hurdle of getting out of uh the the 96 spot uh into a much higher position. So I think for me now it puts some sort of relief uh in there. So now I can just focus on continuing to do what I was actually doing all of last week, but in a maybe a bit more of a positive way of having that huge hurdle of trying to fight for your status for next year. That’s off the shoulder. So now my first step is to get into the top 45 first. Um yeah, hopefully can continue this form and yeah, pick up another couple top 10 or maybe even win.
