Why? Because Reed didn’t just bring a scorecard to Augusta. He brought baggage. Old college teammates had accused him of cheating and stealing. He’d been kicked off the University of Georgia golf team. Even at Augusta State, where he led the team to two national titles, he reportedly wasn’t exactly winning popularity contests. Reed’s own family wasn’t even invited to the tournament.
