TaylorMade’s newly released Milled Grind 5 (MG5) wedges are their first fully forged design — but do they deliver the short game consistency they claim?

So one of the biggest things you’re going to hear from tailor made about the mill grind 5 series is the fact that they are forged. Now surprisingly few wedges are forged and you know a lot most of cast because it’s a slightly you know easier process to produce mass models different grinds and it’s more cost effective whereas going forged is a little bit dearer. Um but what it gives you is maximum feedback and maximum feel. So we all know forged irons give you the most you the softest futteriest feel out there. loads of feedback, loads of sensation for where you’ve struck it. And it’s that softness that’s the real key. And so soft carbon steel that Taylor made use for the forging here. But really focusing on that key word that from a marketing point of view is huge when it comes to wages because so few are even some of the biggest brands invokes for example, there is a forge model out in Asia, but it’s not available anywhere else in the world. So that’s an area that Taylor made are going to be hammering home pretty pretty re regularly through their marketing.

  1. I have played cast and forged clubs for around 60 years. This feel argument for the forged heads is something I have never felt. Maybe I am insensitive or maybe this whole "buttery feel" is marketing.
