WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The WKU women’s golf team wrapped up the first two rounds of the Boilermaker Classic, hosted by Purdue, on Monday in West Lafayette, Indiana. Sydney Hackett and Nina McMurtrey (playing as an individual) are leading the way for the Lady Toppers. WKU sits in a tie for 10th place and is two strokes back from ninth place going into the final round on Tuesday.
NOTABLES
WKU posted a 303 score (+15) in the first round a 305 score (+17) in the second round. The Lady Toppers are tied in 10th place with North Florida.
Senior Sydney Hackett finished the day 4-over after shooting 3-over in the first round and recovering to shoot 1-over in the second. She is tied in 21st place heading into Tuesday. Hackett is tied for the third most birdies in the tournament so far with nine through the first two rounds.
Senior Nina McMurtrey is also tied for 21st place as an individual player, shooting 4-over for the day. She came out strong with a 1-over score in the first round and followed up with a 3-over score in the second. McMurtrey is tied for the fifth most birdies in the tournament so far with eight through the first two rounds.
Sophomore Kaylee Dwyer shot 9-over for the day, tying for 38th place. She posted a 76 in the first round and a 77 in the second.
Freshman Leah Edwards posted a 10-over score for the day, sitting tied for 49th place heading into the final round. She had an impressive first round, shooting 2-over but posted an 8-over score in the second.
Freshman Reagan Ramage is tied with Edwards in 49th place after shooting a 79 in the first round and a 75 in the second.
Senior Averi Cline posted a 166 for the day, shooting a 78 in the first round and an 88 in the second.
QUOTABLE
“It was a tough day today,” said head coach Adam Gary. “We had a lot of birdies but too many bogeys and others. We have the first day under our belt and we’ll look to learn from it and improve tomorrow.”

The Lady Toppers will conclude the Boilermaker Classic on Tuesday with the third and final round. The tournament is set for a shotgun start at 8 a.m. (CT).
