Living the Colorado Dream – Dumpster Diving, Prayer Walk, Topgolf, Mountain Biking & Birthday Dinner

Today was one of those perfect Colorado days where adventure, faith, fun, and friends all came together. The morning started with a little dumpster diving treasure hunt, followed by a peaceful prayer walk surrounded by Colorado’s natural beauty — the perfect way to reflect and recharge.

From there, it was time for some laughs and competition at Topgolf, before heading out for an exhilarating mountain bike ride through Colorado’s stunning trails. To wrap it all up, I joined friends for a wonderful birthday dinner celebration, closing out the day in the best way possible — with good food and even better company.

Well, it’s looking pretty stacky over here. Bria, stop digging to China. You’re messing up my walking path. Now I got to get my boots. Bria, there’s nothing there. Oh, that’s a good shot. That’s coming back. Old town, Colorado. Pray big prayers. Don’t put God in a box. [Music] All righty. I hope you are having an absolutely fantastic day. And I think I just saw some divers. They might have been visiting somebody in the area, but I didn’t really see anything. I looked over and they were looking at something. I’m going to go to the complex next door first and then I’m going to mosey on over to where they were looking. Just see if I can get any little sneak peek. Obviously, I’m not trying to scare anybody off because I do not like it when people do that to me. Well, I’ve been diving so long I don’t really care. I might not film it, but I’ll definitely still grab it. Being beautiful. So far, we’re prayed up, but so far it’s a little slow. I’m going to be honest with you. Some of my normal complexes that do very nicely are a little bit slow, but we are not done yet. We still got a lot more diving today. All right, let’s come around and see. Sorry about the hair. It has been a little windy. Let’s come around here and see if that family is still there. I think they’re diving still. Car still there. Are they just grabbing cardboard? Are they packing stuff in there? I don’t know what they’re doing. Chucking stuff in there. Looks like maybe the parents sent them over there to do stuff. I didn’t see anything, but they’re throwing stuff away. Maybe their parents sent them over there to go chuck some stuff. All I saw was a couple laundry baskets and kids were chucking big old cardboard things inside there. So, probably the parents are like, “Hey, go throw this stuff away.” All right, let’s continue on cuz we need to hit Costco before they close. All right, we got some nice dining room table chairs. I might go in for a closer look. I might need a couple of those for the uh the ends. Let’s whip around. All righty. Grabbed two of those bad Johnny’s right there. There was three. I wish there was four. I grabbed the uh the best Well, you can’t really see them right now. They’re kind of tucked up in there. I grabbed the best two out of the three. And they’re fabric chairs. Maybe they got rid of them all cuz maybe one broke and it was only four. Regardless, what we’re looking at is we’re looking at really, really strong. So, something I kind of had an idea is because I found like two other fabric ones that were kind of like really really cool. So what you do is, you know, you have like matching ones, but you have like four. So you have like kind of like a farm table, right? And then you have two fabrics on each side or you have six chairs with two different sets. So I don’t know if that makes sense or not, but you guys have seen like the farm tables. You got like maybe a bench seat and then maybe like four regular chairs or something like that. You know what I’m saying? Like sky’s is the limit. You know what I’m saying? Like we’re just going to do it. We’re going to do it big and we’re going to do it real real strong. So, something I’m thinking about right now is I’m thinking about just doing it real strong. I’m doing a loop around this traffic circle, shaking people off my tail, baby. Hey, sky’s is the limit, baby. What you in a rush for? We’re going to continue on. I wish the commercial dumpster diving around here was better because again, there’s like the fancy stores, Apple store, Kraton Barrel, and I’ve driven by their dumpsters. I’ve just I’ve never seen like anything popping in there. Of course, I’m only going one day a week dumpster diving. California, I was going h twice a week. No, three times a week. I’m sorry. I was doing one week, day, night, both Saturday and Sunday. Like, I was going a lot and I was finding a lot. It was incredible. But you know what though? It’s going to be incredible today cuz I’m prayed up, baby. Lord’s going to bless it in Jesus name. The chairs by the way, Lord, thank you. Well, if you need some totes, hey, that might be a good one for uh Christmas ornaments. That blue one on the bottom. We might grab that. Well, it’s looking pretty stacky over here. Let’s go see what’s going on over here. Might have to poke around a little bit back over here. That looks like one of those like plop a little thing bobber in there for your work. Uh TV rack, old bed, a lot of iron, little kids, like play table or something like that there. Somebody got some racing wheels. Let’s head on back over here. Obviously, this stuff is not for grabs. A lot of wood. That umbrella is still there. Over here on this side, big old uh bookshelf, some sort of thing there. Yeah. Kind of like a lot of scrap, but definitely that’s why you pop out and you check it out. It’s the start of something new. Can you feel it? Can you see it? Can you taste it? As Bria is digging up fresh soil, let me uh talk to you guys a minute about new growth. New growth. As you can see, the winter’s been harsh. It’s dry. It’s dead. And then now there’s green grass growing up where the trees are bare. And it just looks kind of cold and dead. I remember before I moved to Colorado, I would look at the winter time and you know, of course, there’s beauty with the snow, but it just looked cold and it looked dead, right? There’s a season for everything. Growing up in California, I didn’t know seasons like this. I didn’t know that trees, you know, just shed and fall. That’s why we call it fall. And then all of a sudden, all the leaves drop. And then all of a sudden, it’s bare. And let’s just show you my neighbor’s trees over here. those are full and thick in the uh spring and summertime and then all of a sudden, you know, right now it’s beginning of April and you start to see a little bit of growth as it starts to warm up. Now, here in Colorado, the city where I’m particularly at, sometimes we get some late snows. So, sometimes you do have to be careful with planting. You don’t want to plant too soon because you potentially could get frost and you could get snow that could, you know, mess up your planting of your beautiful flowers. Costco tries to push out their flowers pretty early and if you plant too soon, they could freeze and die. But let me just show you kind of this right here. Right. So you have dead, you have dead, dry, and then you have green grass growing up right here. And as again as it starts to get warmer, the buds come out on the trees and you start to see new growth, new life. And that’s a metaphor not only for farming analogies. Ever since I moved here, the Bible kind of comes more alive, so to speak, with farming analogies. And what does that mean, Chris? That means that when Jesus was talking about my yoke is easy, right? A city boy doesn’t know anything about cows and oxen and yolk and and plowing fields. And then you come to Colorado and you live a little bit outside of the city. Now, you know, not too far. I I sometimes say I live in the sticks, but here you have this big open field behind my house right here. And there’s literally wildlife right here. Not here. Let me see. Where am I? Where am I pointing to there? I’m pointing to over there. Uh those are not analopee. Um I can’t think of the name for some oddball reason. Cantaloupe. Cantaloupe. Analopee. Um prongghorn. They’re prong horn. There’s two prongghorns. I can literally see right there. But as you can see here now, this will all turn beautiful and green when the rains do come. So obviously God has to send the rain for it to come. If there’s no rain, then guess what? It stays dry like this. It stays brittle and that’s when you, God forbid, have your fires. But when the ground is moist, look at how Bria is just digging through the ground like that. You can pick the weeds, you can pick the thorns here. Let me just show you a small example here of this right here. Right. So when it’s nice and moist, you just literally pull that weed right out and you get rid of the weeds. So as I’m out here even today and just thinking about new growth and it was something that was so beautiful, especially living in Colorado, right? I’ve came, I visited, but when you actually see it, when you start to see it, you start to see what was dead come back to life and it’s dormant. Like the flowers, the trees are dormant and then they start to grow again. And that could be you in the season of life right now where you are dormant. You are waiting. You’re waiting for a season to end. All seasons end. All seasons in. No matter how long they Chris, I’ve been in a season 5 years, 10 years. They all end. They all end eventually. There’s a starting date and an ending date. And for you, my friend, the ending date is now. Believe by faith. But also know that there will be new growth coming out of your life even in the winter seasons. So sometimes that’s the way actually not sometimes but that’s the way the Lord designed it is to have dormcancy there to be rest in the land for there to be beautiful colors and then there for it to be new beautiful growth that comes from the soil. Bria, stop digging to China. You’re messing up my walking path. Now I got to get my boots. Berea, there’s nothing there. And that’s another metaphor. Why dig so deep when there’s nothing there? Ask the Lord for wisdom. Seow seeds where seeds need to be planted. But this could be a metaphor for maybe some work that you’re, you know, the Lord has asked you to not do anymore, right? Move on to the next business. Well, Lord, I put so much time and effort into it. I put so much sweat equity into it. And the Lord says, “No, move on. I have greener pastures for you.” Then stop digging. Stop digging. Stop trying to claw your way. Stop trying to toil the soil and let the Lord direct you with the wisdom he’s already given you. So, mound the holes, flatten them, mark out a path before you, and walk with the Lord as he leads. You just walk the straight and narrow. See this right here? This is what I cut straight and narrow. Don’t go off this way. Don’t go where Bri is going. You walk the straight and narrow. Follow the Lord. He’s already given you wisdom. If you’ve asked him for wisdom, he’s already given it to you. He’s not going to reject you, but you have to be obedient to him. Just like in James, you can’t be weward. You can’t be wishy-washy. Don’t expect anything from the Lord if you’re wishy-washy. If your heart is following him, you’re obedient to him, ask him for wisdom. He’ll give it to you. He’s not going to reject you. He loves you. You’re his child. You’re his son. You’re his daughter. But new growth. New growth. Let the new growth come up. And again, when the ground is perfect for picking, pick the weeds. Yeah, I didn’t get the root on that one. But that’s kind of another metaphor right there. You might have to come back and get that root the second time. Purge that. Purge that sin out of your life. Repent and give your life to the Lord and don’t go back. See how Bri is walking. So, let me give you another analogy that my brother came up with this one. Off leash. And so, now just hear me out on this one. So, as the Lord leads you, the Lord allows you to be off leash. And don’t don’t take this in a weird metaphor sense. Just listen to the words I’m saying. So the Lord gives you liberties, but you’re being obedient to him. You’re listening to his voice. And so the Lord just like off leash with a dog, right? But now if I were to call to Bria, Bria, see, she knows my voice. And I call her back in. So if you’re walking your relationship with the Lord and you’re using the wisdom he’s given you and he allows some freedoms, he allows you to Yeah. Try that. Yeah, try this. Try that. But then if you go off a little bit too far, guess what, Bria? You know the Lord’s voice. And and he says, “Listen, no, not that direction. Let’s hone it back in.” Just like in the Bible, I’m paraphrasing, but we know as the sheep, we know the shepherd’s voice. We know the Lord’s voice. So, as we walk with the Lord, we know the direction. As he says, “Chris,” and I home back in. I go off a little bit this way. Chris, no. That’s not quite the business I want you to do. That’s not quite the work I want you to do. That’s not quite the the way I want you to do life. That’s not quite the way those those liberties. Just like when I was having a glass of wine at night and Chris, no. Let’s hone it back in. That’s uh taking a little too much of your time. And I want you to give that up. Okay? Let’s hone it back in. Just like off leash, we know the Lord’s voice, but we must be obedient. We must listen. Huh. Just like Berea. She’s my ride or die. I love her. Anyway, I hope this short walk. I want to do more of these. Give you farming analogies of my yoke is easy. My burden is light. But there’s four seasons. Winter, spring, summer, fall. Don’t know what season you’re in, but know that every season starts and every season ends. God bless you guys. Just like this out front of my house right here. As it was very beautifully warm and these start just coming up and there’s literally going to be I don’t know if those are tulips, but they have bulbs that come up and it’s absolutely incredible. And they don’t last very long, but as you can see here, even in the little bucket right here, new growth is coming up. Nice little summer salad. Here we go. Hey, that’s Hey, that’s good for me and my score. Dingy. That’s a net on that one. Birthday dessert that big. I didn’t think the sundae would come with a huge light. Well, ladies and gentlemen, I got my baby girl next to me, Maria, as in my pub. And we are going to go for a nice little shred ride today. I’ll tell you what, we’re looking absolutely fantastic. Sun is shining. Oh, goodness gracious. I don’t even know what it’s going to be in the city, but it feels beautiful. So, I’m going to be meeting up with my broski and pastor Jay and we’re going to go rip ourselves Stratton Trail today. This, of course, we’re going to be doing uh we’re going to be climbing and then hitting lower shoots. It’s one of my favorite rides in Colorado Springs. Pineries is that direction there, but I’m heading into the city. Pineries is more of an XC trail system where it’s not like crazy hoof about. You still, you know, get some good heart rate repetitions, but it’s more of like a XC. It’s more of like a roller coaster type of a thing with a little climb out, little climb in. It’s a really nice trail system. I always take Bria there. There she is right there. She’s getting ready to rip. I got some water for her. So, as we’re entering in mountain bike season, typically with the sun, especially when it starts getting hotter, like in the middle of summer. Let me hold on. Let me show you this new build that uh absolutely has gone up so fast. It’s so beautiful. Let me get you Let me see if I can get you the shot of that house right there. That’s the one I’ve talked about in my videos being built. It’s gorgeous. It’s gorgeous with a Jeep. So, as it starts to get a little bit hotter, we typically either will ride super early in the morning, which I’ll do a couple of those, but I’m not the biggest fan, to be honest with you, of like waking up at like 5:00 in the morning for a 6:00 a.m. bike ride. I mean, I’ll do a couple of them, but the problem is it’s just it’s too early for me. Even if you go to bed early, I just I can’t go to bed at like 8:30 at night. So, whenever we do like early early morning rides like that, I always got to go back to sleep and grab like a few more hours and it kind of messes up my day to be honest with you. I’ll do a couple of them cuz it’s really nice to see a sunrise, the crisp clean air in the summer morning. Typically, I only do like one or two of those the entire summer where these guys in our bike crew, they typically go every week all summer long. The other idea is I’m a bigger fan of is nighttime rides, right? So the heat of the day goes down. You start in the evening time and you either do a night ride or you start like after dinner so that the crew with kids can get back home, tuck their kiddos in bed. And so sometimes the light is still there. But then sometimes if you start at like 7:45, you know, end at 9:30, man, you’re having a good old time. Nighttime ride. I love summertime nighttime rides. Get the bike lights out. Have yourself a little stew right up there on the trail. I’m talking about like I’m talking about right next to the porta potty. You just make yourself a little campfire. Have yourself a little stoop. Lot of developing coming happen happening. Reminds me I always talk about this. Reminds me of Back to the Future these entryways and then all this big machine equipment. Remember back to the future where like he goes back and it hasn’t even been built yet. And he’s like what in the world’s going on? That mountain off in the distance that’s Pikes Peak 14,000 footer. Not quite like the Shaman Valley but we will be back. Shaminee, we will be back. God willing, buy some real estate, Airbnb it out so you’re making a little bit of money on your investment. Go at least once a year. Maybe alter between summertime, springtime. Buy yourself a chatau in the country. Your kids are bilingual. You’re bilingual. I’ll tell you what, God is good. Nothing’s guaranteed, but pray. What does what does what does Jesus say about prayer? Jesus literally gives a parable parable parable of the persistent widow meaning pray and never give up. Read it. I think it’s in the book of Luke I believe the parable of the widow. She goes to the uh ruler or king of the area and she asks him and requests things of him and he says no no no no no. She keeps coming back. No, no, no, no, no, no. And then she comes back again and the ruler says, “I don’t fear God nor people, but this woman is driving me crazy with her constant requests. I will see that she gets justice.” I’m paraphrasing so she stops bothering me. And this is Jesus literally telling of the parable of the and he’s giving this parable in regards to the persistent of prayer. And so what does that mean? That means going to the father, asking on asking in the name of Jesus every single day, multiple times a day, and he will grant your prayer. Especially the more you pray about it and the more your heart is obedient to him and his will is your will, he will answer your prayers in his timing. If you are not obedient, if you’re not walking, if you’re in unrepented sin, I wouldn’t expect anything. The Lord disciplines those he loves. But if you’re walking in righteousness, if you’ve repented and turned from your sins, if you’re seeking the Lord truly with your whole heart, he will answer your prayers. But it’s by faith in him and him alone. So with that said, pray pray big prayers. Don’t put God in a box. If you’re well up there in years and you’re praying for children, if you’ve had miscarriages and you’re praying for children, keep praying. The Lord can and will do miracles. He is still in the business of miracles. He is the same God that was yesterday, that was 3,000 years ago, 2,000 years ago, one month ago. And he can do anything. He is the creator of the universe. Not you, not me. You didn’t manifest it. You didn’t do this. You didn’t do that. Guess what? The Lord did it. And the Lord allowed it to happen. And if it wasn’t the Lord’s doing, it sure wasn’t your doing. Then guess what? Unfortunately, you’re working on the behalf of Satan. I’ll tell you what, there is a devil. There is a heaven. There is a hell. And I pray that you give your life to the Lord. It’s a rich and satisfying life. And with that said, let’s go rip some Let’s go rip some ropes. Rip some trails. My last nighttime ride here was October before it snowed. Absolutely incredible weather. I do love the Stratton trail system. Watch those tight turns. Watch those tight turns. Here we go. Oh boy. Afternoon sun is hitting down, but obviously not me. It’s like 5:40 right now. 5:36 p.m. Absolutely stunning. Stays late longer. I got my workstation, my mobile workstation right here. New laptop. Cool little vibe to uh downtown. It’s growing. It’s developing into kind of, you know, like place where you uh go grab some good dinner, some good little uh little treats. You got the Olympic Museum over there. So, if you’ve never been to Colorado Springs, it’s kind of divided up into a couple different areas just like any other big city. So, we just literally were 60 seconds ago were in downtown. Now, we’re in what’s called Old uh Colorado. And a lot of cutesy little areas here. a little bit uh you know I mean they’re you know kind of putting some money into it. Some places are a little bit older than others but there are some new restaurants popping up down over here and we are going to a friend’s birthday or I should say I’m going oh there’s summertime where we went last year for his birthday and this year we’re just heading up the street a little bit more and we’re kind of heading towards Manitou Springs if you’re wondering where the incline is if you’ve ever heard of that. If you want to go burn your lungs and your legs go to incline Manitu Springs. All right we’re still 1.4 four up here. So, it’s like it’s definitely in the heart of old Colorado. Again, cutesy like Victorian homes. Some of them, you know, are are facelifted. Some of them, you know, a little bit more run down and then you have some newer condos being built up around here as well. What’s cool is you can rent scooters, bird scooters in downtown. Whip around downtown on your little bird scooter. And you’re like, Chris, man, you’re dressed up. This is true. This is true. We got a little gussied up this evening. And this place is called Base Camp Restaurant. Base Camp Restaurant. I looked at the menu online. They got some nice tasty treats. Doesn’t look too expensive, like moderately priced. Of course, everything is more if you start getting appetizers and all that other stuff, but their steak dish, I think, is only like 25. So, not crazy expensive. Not crazy cheap either, but I mean, I mean, come on. What’s crazy cheap these days? We got.7. So, yeah, this is up there. If you ever want to go to a different place, right behind us is a place called uh Summertime Summertime. It’s more of like a small, you know, kind of like these little share little kind of portions where at first you look at the prices, you’re like, man, this place is cheap. And then the portions come out and they’re pretty small. Now, Oldtown, Colorado does have a really nice Goodwill right here on the corner. That place is popping. That place is popping down over there. Kind of a cool little vibe to a little park right here. And then you start getting into some old buildings, which is really cool right here. Okay, I’m coming up to the left, so I better pay attention where I’m going. Found him. Base Camp restaurant. I think you got away somehow. Did you get away somehow? I think you got away somehow. Now, if you are in downtown old Colorado, Parapuchinis Italian joint is hot. And then uh there’s some coffee shops right here. Careful the car, folks. Zero proof beverages. That’s pretty cool. So, it’s this whole entire So, what I was saying, really cool concept. Absolutely no alcohol in their beverages and it’s this whole like like motif. A really cool little vibe to it. So, a really cool concept. Again, zero alcohol and you just hang out at a place and have yourself a little drink. Next thing you know, you’re having a little stew. All righty. Base Camp restaurant. Really delicious. The bison meat, the steak and fries, which I actually got the steak and mashed potatoes. Very delicious. Pretty good helping of bison meat as well for 25 bucks. They do have like different courses and kind of a a a menu where they just kind of start bringing stuff out, but sometimes the portions can be a little bit smaller. But again, everyone loved the steak and frittas, but he was able to substitute it for mashed potatoes, which again were very delicious. I got mine medium rare. Beautiful tasting. And then we also got I think like a buttermilk biscuit or something like that. That was $10. Do be careful of that. I thought it was free, so I actually ordered another one for the table. Those are about 10 bucks a pop. So, do be careful about that one. But delicious nonetheless. Really cool atmosphere, really cool servers and service. And then the place we went to was really cool. I totally spaced on the name, but I put it up, you know, obviously in the uh while filming. So, all of the drinks are non-alcoholic. And it has like just a cool place where you can go. And the place was packed for a Friday night. And every single drink doesn’t have alcohol in it, but you could still go out and socialize. It’s like a coffee shop at night time. It was really cool. I really liked it. Uh the drinks were delicious, but they weren’t that uh weren’t that cheap. You’re looking at about uh $12 a pop for the drinks that uh that we got or $1250. I can’t reme really remember, but it’s really a beautiful night out. So, if you’re in Old Colorado, definitely check out those places. And you literally walk from one to the other.
