COEUR d’ALENE — Playing on their home course, the Lake City High boys and girls golf teams won the Lake City Invitational on Thursday at the Coeur d’Alene Golf Club.
Led by Wesley Adams and Tanner Collins with 1-over-par 73s, Lake City’s boys shot 302, 13 strokes ahead of Lewiston.
“Very proud of the boys and the work they put in to get the win today,” Lake City coach Nik Bjurstrom said. “Playing on your home course is always great and it is nice for both boys and girls to get a win. The team is excited and ready to keep putting in the work for the season.”
Lake City’s girls, led by Danika Thompson’s 91, shot 383, finishing five strokes ahead of Lakeland.
“I’m really proud of the girls and their progress they’re making,” Lake City girls coach Corey Owen said. “It’s always nice to take advantage of playing your home course. Super excited for the boys and girls to both get it done today.”
Mack Kelly of Coeur d’Alene was girls medalist with an 86.

for medalist in Nampa
NAMPA — Coeur d’Alene freshman Emily Stiller finished tied for medalist with Rocky Mountain’s Maggie Uran with a 2-under-par 69 in the 6A State Preview Tournament at RedHawk Golf Course.
Coeur d’Alene’s girls finished second with a 314. Rocky Mountain of Meridian won with a 292.
Coeur d’Alene sophomore Ben Focke tied for third with a 3-under-par 68, leading the Viking boys, who tied for fourth with Meridian with a 305.
“We learned a ton about RedHawk over the past few days,” Coeur d’Alene girls golf coach Jeff Lake said. “We can’t wait to be back down here for state in October.”
Mountain View of Meridian won the boys team title with a 284.
Coeur d’Alene competes in the Mike McCready Memorial Tournament on Sept. 9 at Jug Mountain Ranch Golf Course in McCall.
