I’m Michelle Smallman. CC and Ev on vacation. As we just talked about to open the show, and yes, we talked about an engagement to open the show. Taylor Swift, Travis Kelce, they announced their engagement yesterday. They posted it on Instagram. The caption said, “Your English teacher and your gym teacher, they’re getting married.” With a little firework emoji, and that was the inspiration for my power rankings today. We’re talking rings. And by the way, shout out to Travis for the ring. I don’t know, Taylor, but it seems like that ring looks like her, right? It’s antique. It’s It just felt like her. And I always love when a guy nails the ring and nails the proposal. Like he’s saying to his girl, “I see you. I see you. I made sure to get something that I knew you would like.” So, we love that. But anyway, here is my list of the top five quarterbacks that need to get a ring. Number five. Checking in at number five. Oh, actually, let me make sure that I sent the right email because I changed the list. Hang on. Let me make let me make sure really quickly. Nuno, I hope that I get this one right because I texted it to you. While you filibuster, let me say I got it. All right. Do we Do we love the Cristiano Ronaldo ring? No. More than Taylor. Okay. Okay. Great. I just wanted to I just want to ask. Okay. I I had changed the order here. So, Jovante, can I get the number again? Number five. Checking in at number five, Aaron Rodgers. Yes, he’s a four-time MVP and he already has a Super Bowl under his belt, but the way things went with the Jets is very bad. He goes into New York, they expect a Super Bowl, they expect a playoff run. Four plays into his first season. He tears his ACL or his Achilles, excuse me. Obviously, that’s not the way that he wanted things to go. It was just a disaster there. He left the Jets worse than he found him. Now, he’s going to Mike Tomlin in Pittsburgh where the standard is the standard and people expect playoffs. They expect playoff wins, even though that hasn’t happened in a while. They expect Super Bowls. And Chris Kanty, my co-host here, has brought this up a lot and I think about it a lot. He says if it’s a disaster in Pittsburgh, if Aaron Rogers is part of the reason that Mike Tomlin has his first lose season in his career, we may remember the back half of Aaron Rogers career the same way we remember his first half. How does he offset that? By doing what Tom Brady did, going somewhere other than the place he had success in his in his uh career would be Green Bay. Going to Pittsburgh, getting another Super Bowl as a big exclamation point to end his career. Aaron Rogers number five on the list. Number four. Number four, Dak Prescott. Yes, I know a lot of people don’t have high expectations for the Dallas Cowboys, but think about what would happen for Dak Prescott’s legacy and his career if he’s the quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys that brings a Super Bowl championship there for the first time in nearly three decades. It would change the way we view him. It would change the way we view the Cowboys. It would change the way we view Jerry Jones. He would be a living legend immediately. and he agreed to that four-year extension worth $240 million. At the time, it made him the highest paid player in NFL history. He’s getting paid to be the guy. We’ve seen him show flashes of MVP style play, but injuries and inconsistency has prohibited him. Dak Prescott needs to bring a ring to Dallas. Number three. Number three, Joe Burrow. Joe Burrow. Now, we know that the Bengals have never won a Super Bowl, and Joe Burrow has said that the window to win is his entire career. Okay, yeah, the window to win is your entire career, but you also have an inj injury history that I don’t love. And you play for a franchise whose financial approach I love even less. That window that Joe Burrow mentioned, it’s made of Mirano glass now because of how expensive this team is and how expensive this offense have gotten. Joe Burrow, T. Higgins, Jamar Chase, they all broke the bank and now they need to deliver. This group, this core, they need to deliver. Yes, Joe Burrow has gotten to a Super Bowl. He needs to actually break through and win one. If he gets a ring, he’s firmly in the Lamar Allen Herz tier because some people have Joe Burrow right on the cusp there. Yes, he’s been to a Super Bowl, but he hasn’t had the individual accolades like Lamar and Josh Allen have with the MVP and he hasn’t won a Super Bowl like Jaylen Herz has. Joe Burrow number three on the list. Number two, number two, it’s Josh Allen. Josh Allen needs a ring. Not only does Josh Allen need to ring win a ring because he’s undoubtedly one of the most talented quarterbacks in his era, but he plays Patrick Mahomes tougher than anyone in the AFC. Even though Joe Burrow has beaten him and Jaylen Herds beat him in the Super Bowl, Josh Allen feels like the guy who is Patrick Mahomes true rival. And I want Josh Allen to win a Super Bowl because I want him to avoid Marino Road. And I say that as someone who’s probably the biggest Dan Marino fan you’ve ever met. But I I don’t want Josh Allen to be one of those guys who’s an MVP caliber player, one of the best quarterbacks we’ve seen, one of the best quarterbacks of his era that never breaks through. And think about this, ladies. He needs to do it for Buffalo. What franchise has more of a painful history than the Buffalo Bills? Four straight Super Bowl losses in the ‘9s. Josh Allen can completely rewrite history when it comes to that franchise. He checks in at number two. Number one, there’s only one number one, and it’s Lamar Jackson. I know that this is not a surprise that Lamar is on the list, but when you’re this good in your career this early, the only thing that we’re judging Lamar now against now is whether or not he can win a Super Bowl. In the regular season, amazing twotime MVP. We know how dynamic of a player he is. In the playoffs, not so much. Lamar has fallen short. But when you look at everything that he has around him, he’s out of excuses. He can’t blame his play. He has a Super Bowl winning head coach. He has an offensive coordinator and a scheme that fits him. and Todd Monkin. He has weapons around him. Hello, Zay Flowers. Hello, Dererick Henry. He’s got a dominant defense. Lamar Jackson, it’s time for him to break through. It’s time for him to put some hardware on his hand. So, ladies, that is the list. We’ve got Aaron Rogers, Dak Prescott, Joe Burrow, Josh Allen, and Lamar Jackson as my top five quarterbacks that need a ring. I like it. That’s a good list, Michelle. I mean, I list there’s there’s definitely parts of it that write itself. Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson being two and one respectively. Um, or you had Lamar number one, Josh Allen number two is the guys who need it the most. That makes sense because Patrick Mahomes has been in their way in the AFC. Both of them have been in the AFC Championship game the last two years and neither of them have been able to get through Arrowhead and get to the Super Bowl. Um, the only other quarterback I would say should be on this list somewhere and and call me crazy, I think it’s Jared Goff. He’s been there before with another team and obviously a vastly different point of his career. I think from a confidence standpoint and from a production standpoint. We remember it was very lowcoring Super Bowl Rams and Patriots. But you revitalized your career in Detroit. You were in the NFC Championship game two years ago. You were in the divisional playoffs last year. Are you just going to be invited to the big dance but not the prom queen, prom king, or are you going to like, you know, be able to, you know, win that popularity contest for lack of a better metaphor since 5:30 in the morning? I’m trying to think of this off the cuff, but I think that Jared Goff should be on that list somewhere because the expectation has been you are a different quarterback in Detroit. You have one of the best teams in the NFC. In the eyes of some, they are the biggest contender right now to the Philadelphia Eagles. Can you get there? Can you win a ring? Because you didn’t do it in Los Angeles. You got a chance to rebirth your career in Detroit and you’ve been on some pretty good teams the last couple years. Can you get over the hump? I just think uh who’s never going to make it to the dance or the Dallas Cowboys? At least not anytime soon. So, you wouldn’t you wouldn’t have would you not have Dak on your list or you just think? I mean, I I think right now given the situation of where we’ve seen the Cowboys, I mean, it’s been almost 30 years and it’s also just it seems like an incredible incredibly hostile environment and it’s not working. Their systems aren’t working right. Like we’ve seen injuries, we’ve seen drama, we it’s it’s just like a really bad soap opera that you can’t stop watching, but you almost wish it would just stop. It’s not producing anything. They’re paying out, but not producing anything. So, it’s just like a show that won’t get cancelled, but they just keep dishing out money and losing money on it. Well, I think that’s over Dak. But to to Michelle’s point of that, that’s why Dak needs the ring. You paid him. I don’t think he will. Yeah. I think there’s a difference between guys who need the ring versus the re reality. This is the guy need emphasis on the only other player I’d say, Michelle, on this cuz I love this list. I don’t think Rogers needs one. I know. Oh, see I do. 2010. We can dive into that on the other side, Courtney. There’s more meat on that bone.
