SAN DIEGO — San Diego State men’s golf head coach Ryan Donovan has announced the schedule for the 2025-26 season. The competitive slate includes three tournaments in the fall and seven in the spring before the postseason begins.
The Aztecs are coming off another banner season that saw them win their fourth consecutive Mountain West championship and earn a spot in the NCAA Tallahassee Regional, where SDSU tied for seventh out of 14 teams, two spots from advancing to the NCAA Championship. Recently, former Aztec J.J. Spaun (2009-12) won the U.S. Open, June 12-15 at Oakmont Country Club. Along with a pair of major wins last season by Xander Schauffele at the PGA Championship and The Open, a former SDSU golfer has won three of the last seven majors. Both Spaun and Schauffele will represent Team USA at the Ryder Cup next month. Recent San Diego State graduate Justin Hastings (2022-25), meanwhile, was the low amateur at the two of the three majors competed in in 2025, including the Masters and the U.S. Open.
The Aztecs open the season, Sept. 6-7, at the Sahalee Players at Sahalee Country Club in Sammamish, Washington. SDSU next plays in Utah’s Wohali Classic at Wohali Golf Club in Coavlille, Utah. San Diego State closes the fall slate at the Marquette Intercollegiate, Oct. 5-7, at Erin Hills Golf Club in Erin, Wisconsin.
The spring season begins Jan. 26-28 at the Southwestern Invitational at North Ranch Golf Club in Westlake Village, California. The Aztecs follow with the John A. Burns Intercollegiate, Feb. 12-14, at Ocean Course Hokuala in Lihue, Hawaii and the Southern Highlands Collegiate, March 1-3, at Southern Highlands Golf Club in Las Vegas.
SDSU returns to America’s Finest City to co-host its lone home tournament of the season with the R.E. Lamkin Invitational, set for March 9-10 at San Diego Country Club in Chula Vista. San Diego State won the tournament last year by 16 strokes at 43-under-par.
The Aztecs are also slated for three tough tournaments in California before the MW Championship, including the Pauma Valley Invitational, March 16-18, at Pauma Valley Country Club in Pauma Valley, the Goodwin, March 26-28, at Stanford Golf Club in Stanford, and finally the Western Intercollegiate, April 13-15, at Pasatiempo Golf Club in Santa Cruz. SDSU captured its first Western Intercollegiate last year since 1960 by five strokes over Stanford at -6.
San Diego State looks to make if five consecutive Mountain West titles before leaving for the Pac-12 in the 2026 season when the MW Championship takes place, May 3-5, at Omni Tucson National in Tucson, Arizona.
The NCAA Regionals takes place, May 18-20, at one of six courses with the NCAA Championship set for May 29-June 3 at Omni La Costa Resort in nearby Carlsbad, California.
