One of my favorite courses has a very large, very nice, house behind the ninth green and I’ve hit my ball into that yard plenty of times. They have a somewhat similar sign but next to it is a little bin of lost balls that are free to grab

Owners probably tired of picking up golf balls. Or finding them with the mower.

I would put something like:
> Local rule 28.3:
>Move ball to closest point in-bounds and drop within one club-length. No penalty.
Because you know some people will still try to play it out of your yard.

A real one.

This is the way it should be.

I think I may have said “retrieve, but do not play it, from our yard”, because you’ll always get that wanker who wants to take that mile.

Nice, people who actually understand they bought a home on the golf course. We have a women to the left of 14 down the fairway right where a good bit of us probably pull one. She has her treadmill upstairs in the window facing the course so whenever someone walks over to go find it, she is banging on the window screaming to get out of her yard. Some people just shouldn’t socialize at all I guess.

This is a *very* reasonable and appreciated position. I’ve always taken care to be respectful of people’s property along golf courses (and elsewhere of course), but seeing this would motivate me to be even more so.

Playing league last night and the guys we were playing against told us how he had a gun pulled on him last week by an older lady, and sure enough when we got to the hole by her house she was out there staring us all down. Lady, the course was there 30 years before any houses. Relax!

Smart, but also one of those instances where you kinda hate that a sign is even necessary for a pretty common sense thing. I can’t even imagine taking a cart into or hitting out of someone’s yard but I have no doubt it must happen enough to warrant a sign…

The coolest ones have a fence but put chicken wire along the bottom of the fence to keep balls from rolling into their yards.

Owners are tired of them running over their sprinkler heads I’m sure

My Dad lives on a golf course and he finally had to put a small fence up. People retrieving their ball wasn’t the issue, carts driving into it and breaking sprinkler heads were. Fence is low enough to step over, just prevents carts driving back there.

There are a lot of yards that extend into “in bounds” on my course. If it’s a super nice yard and the game is for fun, I generally move out of their yard at least a little, if it offers no advantage, so as not to divot some dudes backyard.

I only see “private property” “no trespassing” and “you are on camera, keep out” signs where I play.

Ive seen these types of signs on neighborhood courses.
