STANDISH, Maine – The Saint Joseph’s College men’s golf team is set for a full 2025 schedule featuring 15 events across seven weeks, highlighted by the annual John Queenan Memorial and Monks Invitational – the program’s annual home events – at Point Sebago, as well as the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) and New England Intercollegiate Golf Association (NEIGA) championship tournaments in Connecticut and Massachusetts, respectively.
Led by third-year Head Coach Don Flanagan, the Monks open their fall schedule on Friday, August 29 at the USM Tri-Match, hosted at Riverside Golf Course in Portland, a familiar venue where the team will return multiple times this season. Just five days later, Saint Joseph’s will host the 22nd Annual John Queenan Memorial Tournament (Sept. 3) at Point Sebago. The event holds special meaning for the program, honoring the memory of John Queenan, a 2003 Bow (NH) High School graduate who tragically lost his life in an automobile accident prior to the start of his freshman year as a Saint Joseph’s student-athlete.
The early stretch continues with another date at Riverside Golf Course on September 6 for the USM Cup (Scramble)—a unique event featuring a Ryder Cup-style format in which pairs of golfers play six holes of best ball, six holes of scramble, and six holes of alternate shot. From there, the Monks head north to Bangor to compete in the Husson Eagle Invitational at Bangor Municipal Golf Course on September 13.
From mid-to-late September, the Monks will test themselves with five events in just eight days, beginning with the Albertus Magnus Invitational in New Haven, Conn. on September 18. The round doubles as a valuable preview of New Haven Country Club, which will serve as the host site for the 2025 GNAC Championship in mid-October. The demanding slate continues with back-to-back tournaments at Waterville Country Club, where Saint Joseph’s will compete in the Colby Invitational (Sept. 20) and the UMaine-Farmington Invitational (Sept. 21).
Other September highlights include the Maine Maritime Mariner Invitational at Augusta Country Club (Sept. 23), the UMaine-Presque Isle Invitational at Presque Isle Country Club (Sept. 25), and the SMCC Seawolves Shootout at Purpoodock Country Club in Cape Elizabeth (Sept. 30).
October opens with a return to Riverside for the USM Husky Classic (Oct. 5), followed by the University of New England Invitational at the historic Cape Arundel Country Club (Oct. 9).
Saint Joseph’s will host its second and final home event, the Monks Invitational, at Point Sebago on October 11 and the postseason begins shortly after, with the GNAC Championship scheduled for October 13–14 at New Haven Country Club. Featuring a roster with plenty of new faces, the Monks look to improve upon their runner-up finish in the 2024 GNAC Championship.
The fall season concludes with the NEIGA Championship at The Captains Golf Course in Brewster, Mass., on October 18–19, where the Monks will compete against a large regional field to close the campaign.
