Any Garmin users out there? I'm wondering if anyone uses this and has also paid for an official handicap. Was it worth it for you?

It’s not about accuracy per se. The handicap calculation is standard. If you put in 20 scores, your handicap should be the same in any app you use. The differentiating factor of the official handicap is precisely that it’s official. In the tournaments I’ve played in, they grab my handicap information straight from GHIN. I don’t have a way of giving them a non official handicap even though in theory it’s the same. But if you’re just playing casually and not entering tournaments, the Garmin handicap should be accurate.

Depends. Are you plugging in the course information, so it can grab all relevant data? If not, are you playing the same course over and over? Either way, it’s going to be fairly accurate, but if you want an official handicap, you should use GHIN.

Mine is exactly the same. I like having a Ghin to have something official, but if you’re not playing tournaments it’s close enough.

Depends on tees your playing, slope and course rating but without that information at a glance this looks wrong. If you are averaging 84 (assuming par 72) I’d guess you’d be closer to 9-11 handicap

    Edit: 15 handicaps don’t often break 80
