Moses Itauma risks a legacy like Klitschko’s if he doesn’t fight this era’s stars (Anthony Joshua, Usyk, Tyson Fury). In this boxing breakdown, I analyse both sides of the story. Like Wladimir Klitschko, Moses Itauma is also entering a relatively ‘weak’ heavyweight division. Klitschko’s era had very few top, top level fighters outside of Alexander Povetkin & David Haye. So Moses Itauma may face similar difficulties in finding dance partners from his own era of heavyweights, that would score him points in the heavyweight legacy debate. Whereas, if Moses beat some of the ‘old guard’ of heavyweights before he retires… that could leverage his legacy. Particularly, if he gets accused of “looking dominant in a weak era” like Wladimir Klitschko faces criticism for. So does Moses Itauma risk a Klitschko-like legacy if he doesn’t make the fight this era’s stars and capitalise? Let’s break things down 🧠

  1. I don't think so . because there are guys that have beat the top 3 guys .. he just needs to beat those guys . eg. dubois kayo'd joshua … so dubois is the man to beat . dubois reign was short but he is still counted as the latest era . wilder, fury and joshua were the last era but there's already a small one after that one (dubois's short reign). wilder is still a name to beat . though fury ko'd him it wasn'e like how dubois kayod joshua. i think you can scrap joshua now , that's why they were even thinking of him fighting mma. usyk beat fury . so usyk is the new era. why is wilder still a name because parker just outpointed him no one really kayod him ok zhang did. but zhang got ko'd after.. so i guess kabayel is the guy to beat now. so i think all those guys are way past it now anyway lol . the names do look good though eg. whyte. i think its itaumas management rushing him though. he seems to actually enjoy boxing and learning boxing from the interviews i heard. he said he doesn't want to be a star. i think wilder is still a good name also because he still has power … thats the thing i dont like about fury. he says hes friends with everyone. he wont fight kabayel or parker. lol . but he fights chiosra who is also a friend. usyk beating fury was great but fury's always avoided boxers and it explains why fury put off fighting usyk as long as possible. i think itauma doesn't need any of the big names he just needs to beat all the top guys in the top 10 which he hasnt' fouight any or many yet. joshua is not really a name anymore imo. fury still has a name but he won't fight anyone , he just want an immediate title shot. if fury didn't retired he'd have to be fighting the top 10 … just think fury has been a hevayweight so long but usyk has as many title defences as fury !! .. so wilder has a name still sinply because of the power factor. though he's a shell of himself. so i think the past era are gone . they're good for the resume but they are really past it. i think right now its all up for grabs. even usyk is just an over achiever. despite him beating so many he doens't feel like a real heavyweight lol. he simply out hustled his opponents with heart and skills. but no real heavyweight power except vs dubois 2. but the past fighters will always be around like whyte to get one more pay day lol so he doesn't have to worry about missing th echance to fight them. even if he's 25 and is champion i'm sure fury and others would come back for a try and a pay day lol

  2. Usyk took advantage of slow ponderous heavyweights of his era we're always comparing era there will always be Fighters coming through when you least expect them Joshua Tyson are on their way out he doesn't need them for his legacy there is no weak era

  3. alot of stuff is politics and i think they know all these others are old. even hearn knows joshua is done. so they despartely need a new star $$$ even though itauma really hasn't fought anyone in the top 20 even i don't think. it's quite ridiculous . then you have zhang who ko'd joyce twice . whether it was his management or that he's old or not from the UK or america , with that kind of performance twice he should have already got a title shot. or maybe he just did a dumb strategy fighting too much eg parker and should have waited it out for a title shot. parker could be the last old guy that itauma needs to beat as he's still quite fresh.

  4. Comparing boxers across different eras is problematic and often misleading due to significant changes in rules, training methods, nutrition, equipment, and overall athleticism, making it difficult to conduct a fair or accurate assessment

  5. Way to early to say there are no big names he is just the first future star to emerge there will be others

  6. Itauma has one thing going for him as of now that Wlad did not have. And that is simply raw entertainment value. Part of what made Wlad's era so lowly regarded in my view is that Wlad himself, despite being a great puncher, fought with such a cautious and clinch-laden style that he turned fights where he could have annihilated the opponent into snoozefests because he wouldn't let his hands go due to his weak chin and low gas tank. HBO basically took him off the air for a while after the Ibragimov fight because it was so bad. Itauma, at least right now, doesn't have any issues pulling the trigger for quick knockouts. That may change once he faces some real resistance but even if it's an "easy" era for Itauma, as long as he can entertain with knockouts a la young Tyson, he'll get buzz.

And while the HW future doesn't look to have to have the star wattage of the current era, there's at least one interesting player that will probably join the division in Jai Opetaia and the crew of Dubois, Parker, and Hrgovic should still be there for a few years. All of which I think historically will rank better than David Haye at Heavyweight. So I think if he's got the goods, Itauma should be safe from the Wlad legacy regardless of competition.

  7. Parker could be a good name but for me no. I never rated Parker highly till he got with Andy Lee. I rated Parker barely better than chisora and Whyte which both were out of the top ten for me. Parker is better now but how much better

  8. Good interesting video. I dont see Fury entering a fight unless he knows hes gonna win. Even if it's a cash out. His pride is worth too much. He's too rich to fight itauma if he thinks itauma is better at that stage of their careers

  9. Trauma's manager said recently 'Moses will not be rushed'. So, they don't care about people's expectations. Only about bringing him along slowly, so has sound foundations for a long reign at the top. Counter intuitively may prefer to wait until Usyk, Fury, etc. are gone to increase chance of longest ever HW champion record.

  10. Yeah but the kid's only 20 years old. He could have 15 years in the sport. We can't know what the landscape will look like between now and then. Why the rush? If you put him in with Usyk he's going to get hurt.

  11. Klitchko may not have beaten Lewis, but he retired Lewis. Klitchko's problem was he had an even more boring style than Lewis. And was maybe a little boring as a person too. Although he has youth and is potentially very marketable, Ituama would risk a Tex Cobb vs Larry Homes type distance battering if he faced Usyk now. The way to capitalise is give Turki Alalshikh a good fight and for that Itauma needs more experience. Usyk will retire before Itauma is ready? Not a chance.
    .

  12. Great as always. Tricky one though isn’t it?
AJ / fury will never fight Moses. They won’t take that risk. Parker would take the fight and Parker is no joke, it’s a great fight. A great win for both.
It would mean Moses is the real deal if he wins, and if Parker wins, it’s impossible for him not to get the usyk fight ??

  13. You might have been a bit generous to Klitschko. Fought Fury and Joshua but had no choice (mandatory & trying to regain title). Previously, stretched his reign by avoiding challenges, insisting on fighting in his own back yard ( 'home cooking' judging), rigged rings (extra spongy canvas), always jab and grab (refs allowed it), etc.

  14. I think we have a deep heavyweight division, with Usyk and Fury aging out, it’s not as deep, but there is still a great pool of heavyweights compared to most eras of boxing

  15. Very good points here, as always in your videos.

Joe Louis, Larry Holmes and Klitschko all reigned in pretty weak eras, but were formidable fighters. All top 10 heavies.

Itauma could have a reign like that. I dont know how the next era will be, but I agree that it looks to be a bit weaker than this. You could have Justis Huni, Jalolov, Dubois, Anderson, Parker could have a few years left. Hrgovic is still pretty young. And it might come others. So it could be very good.
If Itauma could Get a win over Usyk in Usyks last fight that would be awesome for his career. And if he also is the first to beat him it will be very good. He will already have an all time great on his resume at a young age.

Joshua and Fury will not fight Itauma, too high of a risk, Fury will only fight Usyk for a third time it seems and Joshua doesnt seem interested in fighting. I dont know if they will fight again at all.

I think Itauma should try and Get Usyk in the ring in summer 2026, if Usyk fights Parker in december, which is most likely, he can fight Itauma as his last fight in 2026. Itauma Can then Get 2-3 fights before Usyk, he needs it.

Compared to Klitschko Itauma seems to have a much higher entertainment value, he will probably be much more popular in the US especially. He is fast, powerful, explosive, takes chances and has a killer instinct. The americans like that.
