President Trump announced on Monday evening a final decision on attendance at the 2025 Ryder Cup.

The 2025 Ryder Cup is being held in President Trump’s home state of New York. The 79-year-old President of the United States was born at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center in Queens. He attended a private elementary school before enrolling at New York Military Academy for high school. The Ryder Cup is being held at Bethpage State Park in Farmingdale, New York – roughly 90 miles from where President Trump attended high school.

President Trump announced on his social media site, Truth Social, that he will be in attendance at the Ryder Cup to support the American team. The 2025 Ryder Cup begins on Friday, Sept. 26 and runs through the weekend, with three days of matches between America and Europe.

The President of the United States will be in attendance on Friday, Sept. 26.

“Keegan Bradley should DEFINITELY be on the American Ryder Cup Team – As Captain!!! He is an AMAZING guy. It will be a great Ryder Cup. At the invite of the PGA Tour, I will be there on Tournament Friday!!! President DJT,” he announced on Truth Social.

President Trump wants Keegan Bradley to be a playing captain

Keegan Bradley, 39, is the youngest American captain of the Ryder Cup since Arnold Palmer in 1963. Palmer was 34 years old at the time and he chose to be a playing captain. America has not had a playing captain since. President Trump wants that to change.

Bradley, who has won eight PGA Tour events, including the 2011 PGA Championship, is currently ranked No. 11 in the Official World Golf Rankings.

While Bradley has yet to make a decision, European star Rory McIlory disagrees with the idea of having a playing captain. He’s been offered that gig by Team Europe and he’s shot it down. McIlroy believes there is too much responsibility that comes with being a captain, it would be too hard to focus on playing, too.

“The idea of me being a playing captain sometime soon has come up, and I’ve shot it down straightaway,” McIlroy said during a news conference Wednesday at the BMW Championship at Caves Valley Golf Club on August 13.

Bradley, who is 10th in the U.S. team’s points standings, has said that he would only choose himself if “I feel like I’m going to help the team.”

“I definitely think he’s one of the best 12 American players right now,” McIlroy said. “That’s why everyone is so interested and it’s such a compelling case. I’m just as interested as everyone else to see how it all plays out.”

Ryder Cup schedule

The Ryder Cup, played every two years, is always a big-time golf event. It’ll be even bigger this year, with President Trump in attendance.
