The 2025 PGA season has wrapped up, and the next big event in the world of golf is the Ryder Cup at the end of September.

One of the confirmed players for Team USA, Scottie Scheffler, just finished up a dominant 2025 season, even if he sputtered out at the very end in the TOUR Championship.

Now that another season on the Tour has wrapped, it is time to revisit a conversation that has been coming up regarding Scottie Scheffler and one Tiger Woods.

Has The PGA Tour Become Too Easy?

Is Scottie Scheffler Approaching Tiger Woods’ Level Of Dominance?

Scottie Scheffler is amid the most dominant run the PGA Tour has seen since Tiger Woods was in his prime in the 2000s. But how do Scheffler’s last four seasons compare to the best four seasons of Woods’ career on the Tour?

Of course, we have to look at this from a sample-size perspective instead of comparing their careers as a whole, because Tiger has had a 25+ year playing career while Scheffler has had nowhere near that.

Tiger Woods From 1999 to 2002

The most dominant stretch of golf ever played by Tiger Woods came during the four-year stretch from 1999-2002.

During this time, Woods won 27 total PGA tournaments, including seven Major Championships, and one TOUR Championship. During this run, he famously completed the Tiger Slam, winning four Major Championship tournaments in a row.

Woods was also the number one-ranked player in the world for nearly all of this four-year stint, as he became #1 in July of 1999, relinquished the spot for one week a few weeks later, then regained it and never let it go until 2004.

Woods also had 20 other wins during this time, including wins on the European Tour, the Asian PGA Tour, and the PGA Tour of Australia.

Scottie Scheffler From 2022 to 2025

The last four seasons from Scottie Scheffler have been the most dominant stretch of golf we have seen since those four years of Tiger from 1999-2002.

Over the last four seasons, Scheffler has won 18 total PGA Tour tournaments, including four Major Championships and two FedEx Cup Playoff events.

During these four years, Scottie Scheffler has been ranked number one in the world for 154 weeks.

He has also won three other events during this time, including an Olympic Gold Medal, which is essentially another Major Championship.

The Verdict: Tiger Woods’ Best Four Years Are Levels Above Scheffler’s Best Four Years

All in all, Woods is definitely still the measuring stick. He dominated at a higher level in an era where all of the best in the world played on the same tour, and the results show that.

You could make the case that Scheffler’s last four years have been just as impressive because of his Olympic Gold Medal and FedEx Cup Playoff success, but context is important, as neither the Olympics nor FedEx Cup Playoffs were a thing for golf during Tiger’s prime.

However, Scheffler is just getting started, and we have to keep that in mind. Perhaps his next four years will be even more dominant than his last four, and if that becomes the case, it could possibly have a much different tune.
