ROCHESTER, Mich. – The reigning Horizon League Champions Oakland Women’s Golf team is ready to hit the fairways once again as they release their slate of matches for the 2025-2026 season.
They start the fall portion of the schedule in-state with a two-day trip to Mount Pleasant at the A-Ga-Ming Invite at Central Michigan (Aug. 31- Sept. 1). The following week, they will head to Ann Arbor for the first time since the 2022 NCAA Regionals, as they participate in the Wolverine Invitational (Sept. 9-10).
A day trip to Indiana for the Clover Classic at Notre Dame (Sept. 28) is next on the slate before a return from last season to Bradley University for the Bradley Coyote Classic (Oct. 5-6), and a fall season finale to Coach Fortushniak’s alma mater, Kansas State, for the Wildcat Invite (Oct. 19-21).
The Golden Grizzlies head back to Bradley after a third place finish in 2024 at the Coyote Creek Golf Club in Peoria, Ill. The women collectively shot 67-over-par in two rounds, while finishing with four top-20 finishers individually.
As spring sets in, Golden Grizzlies will wrap up their campaign with four regular season tournaments, kicking off 2026 at the Western Michigan hosted Rio Verde Intercollegiate in Arizona (Feb. 20-22). OU will then head down south for a pair of matches at the “More Than Golf” Invitational in Aiken, S.C. (Mar. 1-3) and the NKU Spring Julie Invitational (Mar. 23-24). The women’s golf team will compete in their final match at the Delores Black Falcon Invitational (Apr. 11-12).
Oakland hopes to close their season out just as they did last year, looking to repeat as Horizon League Champions as the league tournament will be held Apr. 25-27 in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla.
