Good morning Reddit. Monday night we lost my father. He loved golf. He told me within the last few weeks the only time he truly felt happy during the week was when he was golfing. So please for me, go golfing in his honor this weekend. Pour one out for him and rip your drive off the first tee. Go with your son or your father or both if you can. Hug them each tightly for me. My dad would always say “tee it high and let it fly” so do just that. Thank you r/golf.

Sorry to hear about your dad. I’ll get out for a round this weekend and think of him when I step up to the first tee. “Tee it high and let it fly” is a great line.

Make sure you get out yourself if you can manage it, youll probably find it emotional but will be good to get some fresh air and maybe even crack a couple smiles from memories gone by

Keep your head up bro. Live a life your dad would be proud of. Hopefully golf can bring the same happiness to you and you will always feel connected to him while on the course.

    RIP, pops.

Lost my father 28 years ago. Golf, fishing and hunting were always a good time. The tips and encouragements will always be with you.

    Little white ball…find that hole!

Went on a golf trip with Dad and brother at horseshoe bay Texas. 6 months later dad succumbed to acute leukemia. So glad I had that last great moment with him. Cherish them while you can.

I had no idea how much I’d regret not golfing more with my Dad.

RIP, Brets Dad. I tee off in 90 minutes, I dedicate todays round to him and my own pop.

Next time i hit one into the trees (which will be next time out) I’ll consider it an offering for your pops. Sorry for your loss.

I lost mine a few years ago. He was my golf buddy and taught me at 8. I don’t play a round without missing him. Luckily my 13 year old has been filling in for him.

    Sorry for your loss brother.

My daughter is 7 in September and will be playing her first tournament. I hope she has as fond memories of us as you do of your father. Keep your head up and remember him fondly!!!

  12. Very very sorry for your loss. The last time I had visited and spent one on one time with my father before he passed we played golf and he beat my ass good as always walking 18 holes. He was patient with me and looked for every errant ball I hit while he told me to drop and keep playing. He died a couple months later in his sleep at age 72. So wish I played more with him prayers to you and your family.

I always use your dad’s line whenever a friend asks for a tip on how to hit driver. Will definitely be letting a few fly for him asap!

Man I lost my dad in April and I think about him every time I’m out. My condolences friend. I’m playing today and will think of him on the 1st tee!

RIP. Lost my dad at 17, really wish I wasn’t such a punky teenager and golfed with him back then.

His jokes, advice, and wisdom don’t go away. Hang in there, friend!

Got to play with my dad this past weekend, which we don’t get to do as much as we used to since he moved 6 hours away. Its one of my favorite things to do. I would like to think we were premptively honoring your father. RIP and may your memories on the course with him be a light in this dark time.
