DOUGLAS – The 2025 Wyoming high school fall sports season officially opened with a slate of golf tournaments across the state the second full week of August.
Torrington High School kicked off the season with strong performances at the Douglas Invitational on Wednesday and Thursday, August 13-14.
The Torrington boys fielded four athletes at the season-opener and took seventh place out of 11 teams with a two-day tally of 682 strokes. The boys shot consistently over both days with 340 strokes on Wednesday and 342 Thursday.
Senior Caleb Kelly led the pack in the boys division with a score of 163 strokes in two days. Kelly improved from 82 strokes in the first round to 81 in the second.
Wyatt Lynde posted a cumulative score of 169 strokes with 83 on Wednesday and 86 Thursday.
Junior Mason Unverzagt collected a total of 171 strokes in two rounds. Unverzagt shot 85 strokes on the first day and 86 the second.
Fellow junior Spencer Booth rounded out the boys’ division for Torrington with 178 strokes, progressing from 90 on Wednesday to 88 Thursday.
Sophomore Olivia Edmunds represented Torrington High School in the girls’ division. Edmunds shot 192 strokes over the course of both rounds with 94 on Wednesday and 98 Thursday.
“I was pretty pleased with the kids that we took to Douglas,” coach Jeff Halley said. “They all posted improved scores from last year and set us a good level to build from the rest of this short season.”
