I finally managed to get my hands on one of these legendary clubs. I joked with my friends I'd get one before I learned how to hit driver and I managed to do so. If I can hit it it will replace the 1iron in the bag. Going straight to the range after work today to experience all 12 degrees in all its glory.

Take a video lol. Man I met a dude that was a low single digit handi and only used a 1 iron for driving and man the sound and the trajectory on that thing was an experience to behold

I used to help out at our local chapter of The First Tee and all these old clubs and stuff gathered in a shipping container, including one of these. My dad randomly threw it out while doing some garage cleaning figuring I didn’t need it anymore. Shame because I’d like to see how I hit it now that I’m older and bigger / stronger than I was in high school.
The 1-iron similar to that had a steel shaft and slightly more blades and that thing was hard to hit but you could do it and the face was HOT. As where this thing is just insanely hard to hit.

Try the older gooseneck blades – like those played by Laura Davies. I had a set (yes, I’m old), and center strikes were sublime. Off-center? Even like, a half-inch off center? Pins and needles to your elbows.

I had a friend who hit his 3i on a rock many years ago(swing, not in anger). I have no idea how, but the whole thing bent just a tick. I swear it looked like a 1i. Anyway, he always hit that thing a long way after that. Weirdest club I’ve ever seen, and to this day I don’t know how he bent it or hit it after that
If you’re ever caught in a lightning storm on the course just hold that club up in the air. You’ll be safe as not even God could hit a 0 iron.
