So I think I had this problem.
Instead of pivoting your hips to generate the movement, you’re moving your hips sideways

You’re doing what most players do to get power, throwing your body towards the target. Assuming you’re a righty, when you swing your left back pocket should be moving behind you, and your hips should be turning. When people slide, they usually tuck their butt underneath and push hips towards the target.
