Viktor Hovland’s sharp irons spark BMW Championship run

Viktor Hovland credits precise iron shots and a playoff mindset for his opening round success.

Robert MacIntyre kept up his hot start at the BMW Championship. Can he keep it up to pick up his first win of 2025?

The 29-year-old from Scotland followed up his first-round 62 with a 64 in Round 2, staking him to a five-shot lead heading into the weekend. He’s still got work to do, as world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler is the one closest to him. Ludvig Åberg and Hideki Matsuyama are right behind the PGA Tour money leader, with Tommy Fleetwood, Maverick McNealy, Viktor Hovland and Sam Burns among those on the trail.

Also included in that mix are Michael Kim and Harry Hall, who need a strong finish to break into the top 30 in the FedEx Cup points standings and make next week’s Tour Championship. Taylor Pendrith, Jason Day and Rickie Fowler are also looking to crash the party.
