Though Elin Nordegren kept a low profile both during and after her ill-fated marriage to Tiger Woods, her fashion choices still have us fascinated. The beauty (who doesn’t have any public social media accounts and rarely gives interviews) usually sports stylish and appropriate numbers no matter the event, and had all eyes on her whenever she stepped out to watch her now ex-husband play golf. In fact, Nordegren could have taught fellow golf WAG Paulina Gretzky — who’s had a few outfits that missed the mark herself — a thing or two about how to dress for a day on the course.
But even though Nordegren, who’s totally transformed since divorcing Woods, is usually on point with her ensembles, not everything the Swedish stunner has worn has been a fashion hole in one. In fact, she had a few outfits that were downright bogeys. And that includes more than one missed opportunity to have fun with her wardrobe at glitzy events, plus a few odd accessory choices.
Her mix of corporate and flirty at the 2002 Ryder Cup made no sense

Elin Nordegren had us scratching our heads when she walked hand-in-hand with her now ex-husband Tiger Woods at the opening ceremony for the 2002 Ryder Cup, because her outfit served business on the top and party on the bottom. Her blue roll-neck sweater and black blazer gave very conservative, business-esque vibes, while her black maxi skirt with a thigh-high slit and knee-high, heeled boots gave a spicy and flirty aesthetic. The result was an ensemble that felt confused and incohesive.
Elin Noregren’s cream wrap aged her

Elin Nordegren was in her mid-20s when she appeared at the Tiger Woods Learning Center dedication ceremony in 2006 – but her outfit aged her. Though we appreciated her respect for the event, dressing conservatively to ensure the focus was on the cause, her cream wrap felt dated and was an unnecessary addition to her otherwise all-black ensemble. We would have suggested she instead add a pop of color with a structured bag or strappy shoes to make her outfit more exciting in a youthful way.
Her simple gray dress showed the outline of her bra

Elin Nordegren isn’t famous for spicy and revealing looks, so her basic, roll-neck gray dress over black tights and boots felt on-brand as she posed with Tiger Woods, Heidi Klum, and Seal in 2008. However, this look missed the mark because the material appeared cheap and (unintentionally) semi-see-through, as the outline of Nordegren’s white bra was visible. White undergarments showing through dark material is a common fashion mistake, and could have been avoided had the star opted for a gray bra to match her dress.
She wore a sporty, Nike headband in an odd way

In 2008, Elin Nordegren was in Florida watching her then-husband Tiger Woods play golf. She was dressed in a simple, black tank top and pants, but we were distracted by her Nike headband. The practical sports accessory was designed to be worn by athletes to push their hair away from their face. However, Nordegren placed it over the top of her side-swept bangs, which not only missed the point of the accessory, but likely also flattened her locks and made her head even hotter in the Sunshine State heat.
Elin Nordegren’s black shawl swamped her body and hid her dress

When Elin Nordegren was snapped in Ireland in 2006, she was wearing what appeared to be a black waterfall cardigan pulled over her left shoulder like a shawl. Though the garment was popular at the time, it swamped her figure and completely covered the top half of her red, black, and white patterned dress. Instead, a structured jacket or blazer (which was also trendy around 2006) would have offered her warmth while still letting her dress be the focus.
She missed an opportunity to have fun on the red carpet in 2006

Elin Nordegren posed with her now ex-husband and “Desperate Housewives” star Teri Hatcher at the Tiger Jam IX Benefit Concert in 2006, but her basic, black, long-sleeved dress felt like a missed opportunity to have fun with fashion. Though a simple LBD can be a safe fallback outfit, we’d have liked to see Nordegren experiment with more color or texture to celebrate the fun occasion. Compared to stars like Stacy Keibler, who attended the event in a leopard-print, embellished mini-dress, Nordegren faded into the background.
Elin Nordegren’s chunky black belt ruined her island ensemble

A chunky, black belt isn’t the first item we’d think of packing for a sunny trip to Hawaii, but Elin Nordegren clearly didn’t get that memo. Her dark accessory ruined her otherwise light and airy look as she took in the Mercedes Championships in 2004. She wore a light blue, wide neck top and white pants that gave us island vibes, but her angular belt was front and center and looked too dark and out of place, ruining her summery aesthetic.
Her fedora at the airport felt unnecessary

There are a handful of accessories you should think twice about wearing to the airport, and unnecessary hats are one of them. Though we understand why Elin Nordegren added a fedora to her ensemble at LAX in 2011 (they were totally trendy at the time), it felt out of place seeing as she was indoors and about to get on airplane. It also felt too formal considering her jacket and jeans gave us more casual vibes, and we can’t help but wonder what she did with it when she settled into her seat.
