Featured tee time for Round 2
If anyone thought Scottie Scheffler would take it easy this week and save his focus for the Tour Championship, they were wrong. The World No. 1 and FedEx Cup leader dispelled any notion that winning wasn’t the only thing on his mind early in the opening round on Thursday.
Scheffler came out hot, making birdie at the first two holes before adding a third red number at the 4th. He finished the day at four under which put him within four shots of early leader Robert MacIntyre.

In the opening round of the 2025 BMW Championship, Scottie Scheffler makes birdie on the par-4 2nd hole.
Rory McIlroy, who is making his playoff debut after skipping last week, played alongside Scheffler on Thursday, but McIlroy experienced a very different start to his round. The reigning Masters champ was one over through his first four holes, then fell to two over through seven. He fought back to finish Round 1 at even par.
After teeing off early for Round 1, Scheffler and McIlroy will switch to an afternoon tee time for the second round on Friday, teeing off for Round 2 at 1:38 p.m. ET.
