Hey golfers and welcome back to another live at lunch here on the second swing YouTube channel. Every Thursday 1 p.m. Central we go live and today we’re continuing our series of golf ball testing. We’ve got Kaspar say throughout that. Some things we expected, couple things that we maybe didn’t expect there. And now today we’ve got Callaway golf balls. And so another uh brand that’s kind of continuing to take a larger chunk of the market in golf balls. Um if you’ve played Callaway golf balls or or are playing one right now, tell us your thoughts and what you’re playing right now. Give us your feedback on it. Um we’d love to hear that because it’s always some good anecdotal feedback to have during these tests. Um, Kas, let me go to you now. I don’t know what you know about Cali golf balls. I don’t know. Uh, I know you play 1x. So, um, I I’ll toss this to you right now. And what we’ve been doing is hitting a few seven irons, hitting a few drivers to kind of get data on both. Um, the super soft is I don’t know if you could feel it, but I’ve got six golf balls we’re going to hit today, and five of them have a urethane cover. That one does not. So, it it definitely has a different feel to it. It’s going to be probably not going to be very close to what uh you’re used to. No, that’ll be fun. I’m excited to take a look at Callaway and and see how they perform. I think compared to other weeks, we’re kind of starting on the uh the not the lower end, but the non-our balls and working our way up to the tour balls. So, that’ll be fun to kind of see how that progresses in terms of spin, launch, all those characteristics. Uh for viewers out there, if you haven’t joined the past couple of weeks, uh I have my 7iron here. It’s some Muno Pro uh S3. It is uh the Modus 120X shaft in there. So, I play my clubs uh/ inch uh over length and uh about one degree upright. So, uh let’s take a look here. Yeah, let me get my data figured out here. And again, um if you have again, looks like Chris said he used to play the ERC. We’ll hit that one here shortly. Um, that’ll be a good one to get some information on because I feel like there’s a lot of questions about that one being a really good value ball. Sure. Um, so there’s these uh that’s I think that’s the piece that people are looking for here in addition to seeing how these um how these the kind of the tour balls compare because we got a few different tour balls to hit today as well. So, all right, the super soft. Yeah, let’s let’s give it a rip here. That feels funny. It feels funny. Yeah. I don’t know if I just missed that or what, but it felt sticky. It definitely has. I I We’ve This is now the third, you know, one of these tests that we’ve done and it to me that was as quiet as a golf ball has been. Yeah. There was almost nothing there. Feeling. All right. That wasn’t my probably my best strike, but interesting. Chris said this will be a marshmallow for freight train. Freight train. Chris is back. Oh yeah. Yeah, it does feel a little bit uh marshmallowy. Muted. Yeah, it actually like feel-wise it doesn’t feel overly soft. I mean, but it does feel muted. It’s not It’s not super soft. It is super soft. Yeah. It’s not It’s like uh It’s not like It’s clicky, right? But it’s just kind of thuddy. I don’t know. Okay. It definitely feels uh not like a urethane cover. Okay. Interesting. That one was That one was hit off the face there. Yeah. The other two not off the club face. Well, they were, but that one was that one’s more flush. Okay. So, yeah, here’s the sw the three swings. Um and I’ll bring up uh dispersion. So, there’s a dispersion. we were getting around 170 carry spin. I I feel like I’ve seen your spin numbers. That seems low to me right now. Um because in the past you’ve been kind of in that low to mid7000s range with your 7 iron. And so to me I feel like we’re going to see that number increase with the different golf balls today. Ag. So um one thing too I’ll be trying to track is ball speed knowing how um how much speed you generate with your seven and your driver. But to see I think the ball speed will go up too. That last one was obviously variation here that I think will get tighter. Yeah, maybe. Do we want to get rid of that first one maybe and just Yeah, might as well. Might not this. Maybe throwing a one better. One, two, two. I know that with a one two smash. I know that that’s not what all you can do there. So, give it one more. I pulled it, but I hit it hard. Yeah, that spin is low still though. Yeah, that’s really low. 61. Yeah, cuz I know I know you’re rarely you’re down in the low 6,000s. Um, and that and with a pole, obviously the spin goes down, but So that’s that’s pretty low. Yeah. So, okay. So, we got some numbers there with the seven iron. Let’s go driver here. And this is the super soft again for those joining. And um so we’re going to hit each golf ball a few times with an iron, few times with a driver, and throughout we’re going to talk about the feel. The look, not say the look, it all looks like a white golf ball, but the feel. And um we’ll kind of do a comparison. And we’ve got a bunch of Callaway golf balls to hit. Um kind of see what we find out here. Okay, that’s the shot you’re looking for. Yeah, I didn’t mind that. Pretty good contact. That’s the the kind of the, you know, pull cut almost. If you’ve been watching these the last uh couple weeks, you’ve seen that from K. That’s the go-to T-shot right there. That one will find 100 out of 100 fairways. Oh, little missile there. It didn’t track Trackm didn’t pick up all the information. Yeah, that was a It came out low, but again, I take it controlled one. Yeah. I mean, again, these are the way you you have you you found something with driver, and this is kind of outside of the golf ball conversation, but you found something with driver that seemed repeatable, right? Well, that’s the whole name of the game, right? Just hit something you know you can hit it. The driver, I would say it still feels muted just like the iron shot without question. Okay. Yeah, that one the spin jumped up a little bit there. Yeah. So, we got I will say the uh carry distance for each of those was basically the same exact thing here. And just depending on trajectory, how far it ran out. Yeah. But I mean, look at your uh carries. 271.2 272.2 271.3. And again, this is, you know, a little bit the second shot here is a little bit relative just based on it didn’t pick up all the info. So, some of that maybe is to an extent guessing, but um nonetheless, we got some good averages to start there. So, yeah, I think I could audio-wise there’s not a ton of noise from that golf ball. It was just soft. And I think we’ll see too. I’ve seen how your driver spin rates are and that’s pretty low driver spin rate as well for you. Uh I know you were, it seems like typically you’re in the higher 2000s or even up to 3,000 with your driver hitting that hitting that cut. So, absolutely. So, okay, let’s uh now we’re going to go to ball number two is going to be the ERC soft. Okay, this is one that Chris talked about. Um, this is the first ball that they introduced that triple track stuff with. Um, noticed that. And it’s actually I know it’s one of the better kind of value, you know, golf balls you’re trying not to to spend the 60 bucks per per dozen. Um, this is a really good one where it has that the premium field cover to it. Yeah. Um, but it’s still probably a little bit of a lower compression number than than maybe the Tour Ball. Yeah, it definitely feels like that cover, which is is important. Got a good good look to it. Oh, shoot. I got to put a seven in here, too. I almost messed that up. All right, ERC soft with the triple track, which by the way, it’s amazing how now Callaway kind of led the way there with putting a visual alignment on the golf ball now. And now you got everybody putting at least some kind of, you know, twist, their own twist to the visual alignment piece on the golf ball. I mean, feel-wise, that felt like urethane cover, which I appreciate. The spin number jumped up right away. That’s what I noticed on that one. The spin goes up. It’s I also just hurt a little bit more, too. Another good strike there. Yeah, that one was sweet. Spin back up there again. Closer to 7,000. It’s still a little lower though than I I would anticipate, which again, I think throughout this lineup, we’re getting to be we’re going to continue to hit like firmer um higher compression golf balls throughout here. And so I think that spin number will continue to go up for for the way you deliver the ball or to the club, excuse me. All right, man. That’s a really good golf shot. Yeah, that one felt good. Yeah, three good ones there with these seven irons. So, yeah, I mean, we’re at 173 carry there. Um, the carry actually went down a little bit versus the average. You’re aaging exactly 7,000 spin on those three shots with this ERC soft. So, um, the launch was pretty much the same. Peak height was pretty much the same. We just saw I think the big difference there being the spin going up a little bit there with the right and just and and I guess too for you know total and and and carry there’s it it looks like more consistency as well a little tighter dispersion you know so if you’re if you have a number in mind and and you expect the ball to do that on your strike or if you make the strike you’re expecting I think that’s an important kind of thing to look at um when shopping balls. Yeah. Yeah. That’s a big piece of it is also I mean and I think we’ve mentioned this before on a couple of these but we probably don’t give the golf balls enough attention uh just because um the golf ball is kind of the one piece of equipment that you you’re going to use for every single shot that you hit. Um you’re you so I know our fitters always say play the same ball no matter what. Correct. Um don’t switch golf balls because that’s the worst thing you can do. But it’s fascinating as we see throughout we saw it with Titus. We saw it with Shan. You’re seeing it already here a little bit with uh just two Callaway balls how much different things can be. Um we’re already seeing, you know, on average with a 7R we got about 400 RPM and that’s that’s a big difference. And I think too like it doesn’t matter how much you spend on a golf ball, but just golf’s hard enough, right? If you can have a little bit of controllable, you know, consistency like, okay, I know what this ball’s going to do X, Y, and whatever that is. I think that that at least removes some of the variable of the game of golf, right? And uh the more consistent we can be there, you can play better golf. So, oh, just mentally too, you kind of have another layer of confidence that you have this golf ball you can trust. You know what it’s going to do. All right, ERC. Oh, what’s the joke? One, ERC soft. I think we’re uh that ball speed on that one’s going to come down. Bring the averages down. It’s a fickle tea and ground. Okay. Yeah. Right away the spin goes up a little bit. Yep. That’s more in line with what we usually see from me. Yeah. Kind of higher. Yeah. Hovering around 3,000 where I think most times for you the the if you lose one out to the right, it spins a little bit over 3,000. Um if it’s kind of left of the center line, it maybe hovers right there or stays under 3,000. That one was off the toe. Off the toe. So, that spin’s going to go down a bit. I look at that smash factor. This is This, folks, is exactly why driver technology is so good these days, right? It’s also a reminder of if you’re going to miss on the driver face, miss towards the toe because you’ll get way more distance out of it. This is what they call gear effect. Um this is kind of the the club face corrects itself a little bit when you hit it off the toe. And so yeah. Yeah, that was a that was a I mean that was out there definitely out on the toe, but again playable. Oh yeah. I mean that’s spin drop just as far as your other one. Not as efficient though on the old smash factor. Correct. Oo, that was low spin, too. That one I got. That was not off the toe. How about that? Yeah, that felt really good. I’ll leave it up to you, Kos. Do you want to hit another one to replace that one or no? No, I think that’s that’s fine. Yeah, I mean it’s obviously a really good performer, so I’m not gonna Yeah, we got some consistency up there for sure from the driver’s perspective. Actually, the smash factor ended up being an average of the same super soft, which I think speaks to how we’re getting to a golf ball now. We’re progressing to something that’s a little bit more catered to your speed. I think you were overcompressing the super soft there because these super soft ones, you’re down to 142, 144. Your good swings here 146, right, with ERC soft. So, you’re getting you’re kind of matching, you know, the energy transfer is a little bit better. That actually I’m not going to lie to the viewers that that felt very nice coming from the Prov1X. Okay, that felt familiar. How about that? Interesting. Very familiar feel there. Well, let’s uh this is this will be another change of pace here. First of all, it’s a yellow ball. Um this is a chrome soft. Okay, so this is a a model or a gnomenclature that they’ve used for a couple generations here from Callaway. um the chrome soft and that’s actually right there that you’re looking at one that they you know they expanded their triple track kind of um design to be all the way around the golf ball. So that’s that is interesting. Does who does anyone play yellow out on tour? There are a few guys. Does Peter Malady still play? I know. Uh I think he does. I think uh Fred Couples does. Okay. Um, so there’s there’s a few yellow golf balls out there, but uh I still think the, you know, the majority are playing a a pretty standard white golf ball with some sort of marking on it for a line seems to be the the norm. But so this is the Callaway Chrome Soft. Yep. And once again, I almost forgot to switch you back to seven iron. Don’t mess your data up here, Drew. I know. All right. I’ve been using Trackman for seven years. I You should have it figured out by now, but there’s always something to learn. See that spin’s going to keep going up. Yeah, I like that though. Straight as a golf consistent, right? It’s about as straight as a golf shot gets right there. When you hit those, you just hope you were have the right align alignment. Right. Right. Okay. Oh boy, that that sounded like a clunky one. Yeah, let’s redo that one. Yeah, that’s that’s fine. We can do that. That came out of nowhere. Look at that. Already didn’t exist. We just went back in time about 10 seconds. How would that one feel? Uh, perfect. Perfect. Okay. One I’m noticing on that one is there a little bit of draw to that one. I know. Well, that’s interesting. That was I mean I do tend to be able to cut with a driver. I do tend to be straighter. Yeah. With the iron or and can more easily hit your curvature goes way down like Yeah, I see what you’re saying. The difference between the path and the face is is much smaller. Correct. But I I was just kind of illustrating that cuz that’s I think that’s why the spin went down a little bit there is cuz you had Yeah. I mean that one that one felt about as good as I can do numbers wise too. shot shape. No shame in that. All right, last one here. The little clunky. Okay. Yeah, a lot clunky actually. Well, more or no, that’s your call again. Uh, yeah. What the heck? I can’t end on that. After that perfect one, I didn’t like that. Okay. All right. Oh, yeah. Yeah, that feels really good. Turn it over a little bit. You like to feel that one, huh? Really good. Yeah, that’s outstanding. Chrome soft. It feels really responsive. You know, it it uh So interesting that spin went back down a little bit there. kind of between the super soft and ERC soft. Um, also of note, the you were more efficient there. I mean, yeah, you know, 133 smash. Again, we, you know, took a shot or two out of there. Um, but the ones you were hitting good, it seemed like you were really being more efficient with those ones. And like I said, like when I I got what I put in, right, I mean, I know that’s for every swing, every golf ball, but it felt really responsive off the face. Like I I knew I knew instantly the feedback was nice with it. Got it. I think that. All right. So, the uh the driver chrome soft. There she is. There’s the butter cut. There it is, man. Right down the center stripe. Yep. But again, the spins up a little bit compared to some of those other I mean similar shot shapes that I hit. I think that was decently efficient. The uh smash factor there at 146 that seems to be which is a very good number by the way. Um that seems to be kind of where you’re at when you hit one solid is 146. I like it, man. Again, same thing. It feels responsive. Let’s see if we can keep it going here. How’d that feel? A little low off the face. Okay, that I think that’s why the spin’s up. Yeah. Yep, that makes sense. That’s another That’s another physical lesson for the viewers, but responsive. Like I I kind of sensed it right away, but I still trusted it and it it produced. That’s another thing for the viewers, too. Imagine the equator of the club face. If you hit it on the lower half, that spin goes like that, right? Yeah. So, you’re going to miss high toe is the play. Yep. You’re gonna I mean, realistically, missing it, I don’t know, quarter of an inch high toe. That seems like a big number, but like if you hit it out there, your your total distance won’t drop a ton. Correct. Especially on a firm fairway. Correct. All right. Those feel pretty good. Let’s uh hit one more here. Oh yeah, that was ripped. That was slightly toes side just for the audience to know. That’s perfect because then we get a little little bit of an average of both there. In terms of drivers, that is kind of falling in line there pretty well. It’s the highest spinning so far. Um but most efficient for you. I think we’re again we’re we’re trending towards I think with driver we’ll see you be more efficient and more efficient as we go here because now we’re getting to golf balls that are kind of designed to compress the best with your speed your speed. Um so I think we’ll see that here a little bit as we transition here to uh the Chrome Tour family. So we have three Chrome Tour models to test. Okay. Chrome Tour, Chrome Tour X, Chrome Tour Triple Diamond. So Chrome Tour. This is kind of almost like an updated version of, you know, this is now their latest tour ball. I think Chrome Soft had been kind of like the the go-to tour ball for Callaway for a few years and then they’ve they now calling it Chrome Tour. So, uh we’ll see what that uh brings for us here. But I’m curious though that that ERC soft in the mix there, Drew. That’s looking pretty good. You’re liking that one, huh? I I did. I mean, for kind of a value ball Yeah. Again, it’s it’s much less than uh it’s performing pretty aggressively. It is a good value. I know that. All right. Tour chrome 7 iron on the way. Oh, right away. Some more spin there. Oh, yeah. Big time. Wow. Big time. A good golf shot though by Yeah, I mean for sure. But where that’s that’s like enough of a spin difference where like that is that is going to make a difference in the distance. So you’re probably, you know, a half a club shorter in distance with carry because of how much more that spun. But it’s also not going anywhere. I mean, that thing basically hit and stopped, right? Correct. Yeah. Yeah. And actually on a if you get a soft enough green, that thing will probably come back a little bit. Correct. All right. Felt very familiar to like the classic tour ball feel. Yep. And look. I imagine that would be pretty similar with all these here. dimple pattern kind of overall look down at a dress very similar. Yep. That felt awesome. I think that was maybe my highest, excuse me, highest efficiency there. Yeah, it looked like a smash tractor. I don’t think I’ve seen 136 yet with your seven iron. So, I will say the tour ball difference for me, it just I said it I think in another video, maybe the title one just feels like it stays on the face a touch longer and you’re just kind of like you have full control over it. Yeah. Yeah. All right. Oh, yeah. Well, we see some differences already with the Chrome Tour. Um, namely in the spin. So, we go down here to spin. Here are seven irons on the bottom four here. We see nothing’s really touched mid7000s quite like the Chrome Tour has. Um, I mean, it’s all consistent, right? We’re talking about, you know, three yards in the deviation for carry-an total. That’s really, really good. We see some higher numbers down there with like the Super Soft. Um, and then, of course, the Smash Factory we’re talking about most efficient so far with that one. So, I imagine we’ll see that with driver where you’re going to be a little bit more. It’s going to be a better fit for for your swing and your speed. But I’m curious what I’m going to be very curious about this triple diamond ball when we get to it. Yeah, I’m very That is that what we’re doing last? Yeah, triple diamond. We’re going to save the most interesting or at least me the most intriguing for last. So, I’ll be curious to see where that kind of fits in the line here of the tour chrome. All right. Tour chrome. Oo, that one. Look at that. That was a bullet. Again, toe side. Sure. If you keep missing there, that’s fine. Yeah. Nothing wrong with that at all. By the way, I don’t know if the viewers could see that, but his tea Almost touched the ceiling. Hit it. Oh yeah. Is it up there? I see it right here. Yeah, but it flew like directly straight in the air. That was fun to watch. You get hazard pay, I think, for that. Low low off the face. So the spin’s going to jump. You said low face there. Yep. Okay. That’s lining up pretty similar with the Chromeoft. U Chris is asking in the chat about the Xmile. Next ball we’re hitting is Chrome Tour X. Yes, sir. So, we’ll be hitting that one next. So, that is the most efficient so far. Spin is kind of a little more in your money zone. Again, we had a couple different strikes there. We had a kind of a toe one. We had a heel one or not a heel, but a face. U but overall tracking for total distance at 292, which is up there. You know, doing pretty well. It matches up. The ERC soft right now is still the best driver performer. So, yeah, just hanging out. We might be we might be finding a new golf ball for cops here with the ERC soft. He’s loving that one so far. Uh he gonna save some money versus the the Proby ones he’s playing currently. So, um we’ll see. We got All right. So, the Chrome Tour X. So, kind of lines up, you know, in terms of the differences between like, for example, Prov1 Prov 1X. Um TP5, TP5X, right? It’s there’s there’s those kind of differences that are common across the board there. And I think that’s kind of how these line up. A little different, but in the Callaways, the X model here, more spinning or at least done in theory. In theory. Um, but uh we’ll see. We’ll see. And uh unfortunately, we didn’t have a Chromeoft X, so we had Chromeoft. Oh, excuse me. Uh no, Chromeoft X. This is Chrome Tour now. Chrome Tour X. So, little different. Um, unfortunately we didn’t have one of the Chromeoft X today, but that would have been interesting to see. But these Tour on my go-to ball. That was I blocked that one. That wasn’t very good. Yeah. But let’s see. Look at that spin. That’s a That is a lot of spin. Did you hit that good or was it No, I cut I mean I kind of blocked it off. Okay, we can uh That’s a lot of spin though. We can reevaluate here after a couple. I mean, you hit a 128 smash. Not like you absolutely missed it. You hit it decent. Wow. So, that was a good one though, right? Yeah, the spin’s still way up there. Spin is going way up here with the chrome the Chrome Tour X after a couple swings with the seven iron. That’s that’s way up there. I mean, that’s that’s like 4 500 from some of the the top. This is way up there. So, this is why we do this testing because the super soft average spin with a 7 iron was in the mid 6,000s. Correct. We are now in the well into the 8,000s with two shots with this one. I thought that first one was just an anomaly, but that one was I mean 132 efficiency. Very similar numbers for carry total and that that spins way higher. Yeah, way higher. Wow. I hit that one pretty solid again. 133. Yeah. Wow. That spin. So, cuz at first I was like, how how bad did he hit that one? Hit 8,900 spin. Me, too. Um I mean, it was a great hit. It was cut, but those other two were well struck. Yeah. So, we’re looking down here at the seven irons. You can kind of see how much higher spin that is, man. That’s crazy. That is really crazy. Well, cuz what the the Chrome Tour 70, it’s almost a thousand more RPM. Yeah, that’s wild. And again, it’s uh we’re almost 2,000 RPM from the super soft down here. Um Okay. You know, and Chris makes a good point. The tour model, the chrome tour ones here that we’re hitting four piece or there’s extra layer that kind of the proven one X has. The chrome soft is a three-piece. And so again, the four piece for you is probably better for how much you’re kind of compressing the golf ball. But for a guy that is, you know, needs a little spin. Yeah. You know, this ball Yeah. This ball is going to just add it. There are a lot of people out there that need spin, that need the ball to go up in the air and stay in the air. Um, there’s a lot of golfers out there that are in that category. So, I’m I’m nerv if I get one out to the right here. Yeah, this could spin a lot. The way you hit this could be 5,000 RPM or something. The way that you swing, this could be interesting. I’m I’m fully intrigued here. Oh, boy. She’s leaning. You’re kind of feeling the feeling the heat now. We don’t know what we’re gonna see here. Good. I know. I feel like I got to get on the toe. All right. Okay. That’s a good drive right there. Yeah. Look at that efficiency though. 148. That’s the highest I’ve seen. Yeah. I mean, it did. The spin isn’t ridiculous. It does feel a little higher than similar shots with other balls, but Sure. And that’s point, you know, I’ll note too for people that maybe just joining, that’s where you kind of live in this high 2000s around 30,000 with driver because of this kind of cut you play. Correct. Um, you know, I think sometimes people see 3,000 like, “Oh my gosh, that’s insanely high.” But that’s where you live with the shot you play. Correct. Again, like I said before, just finding that consistency. If I know what it’s going to do, I have a good chance out there. Right. There we go. That was low and a little cutting. There’s some spin. I will say though, the smash factor is still up there quite a ways. So that was Yeah, that was definitely low off the face. So we’re going to have those spin numbers increase a bit. Yeah, the ball speed for this. I think from that perspective, it you’re getting as much ball speed as I think you probably can out of Callaway ball with this one. Sure. Okay. What was that? 38 39 almost four. That’s a lot of spin. That is, but again, I I mean, I take That’s why I actually I think I think you’re going to get really good stuff out of this triple diamond. I think it’s going to be a really good fit for you. All right. Yeah, that’s that’s a 150 smash. Yeah, I hit that one solid. Yeah, that it had to have been solid. But yeah, look at your ball speed here. Comfortably the highest ball speed and actually you swung your driver at the slowest. Interesting. Um, so far in terms of club speed, right? You’re in that low 110 or 110s, call it. Yeah. But um, so I I mean I would want I would want less spin then if I’m producing 140 or whatever 150 and my swing speeds up, my ball speeds up, I would want maybe even a little bit more of that in terms of carry and total. Yeah. And this is also the importance of driver spin. Um because right now from if we cut everything off and look at total on left, you would say the Chrome Tour X is by far the best ball for you. Correct. Where you know you’re this is the ball that’s going to generate the most speed and therefore most distance. However, because the spin is so high, it’s actually the shortest uh distance-wise both carry and total. Yeah. Interesting. So that and that’s with driver and we saw the same thing with the iron where the spin is so high for you. Well, that’s why I’m excited about this last ball because um the Chrome Tour Triple Diamond is uh designed to be a low spin ball for full swings and then it kind of falls in between the Tour and Tour X as far as greenside spin. So, um so it could be a great fit. So, it I think I think you know if if if there if what Callaway tells us is correct about these golf balls, which so far I think everything has been pretty has lined up pretty well. I think this will be a really good fit for you. But we’ll see. That’s why we do the testing, right? That’s why that’s why we hit the shots. I am noticing, too, all three of the models look the same as far as the graphics. The Callaway with the with the red number. Yep. Right. The side labeling is a little different, but the sheen, the look. It looks like a tour ball for sure. Yep. They give you the look. They give you the feel of it, too. All right. The triple diamond. Okay. Felt fast. Yeah. Felt very fast. What I like about that, and we’re going to see how this goes because um you know, if you end up hitting one with a fade or something and see how that spin was, but that I like that as a spin number for you because it’s a draw that didn’t drop way down. Nope. Sometimes when you hit a draw, it like will that spin rate will kind of crater. Did not happen here. Huh. Oh, great. Oh yeah, I compressed that one. Nice. How does this one feel? Really good. Really fast. Yeah, it feels like it’s just exploding off the face. Really? That’s good. 70 61 for spin. That was I think if you’re uh I mean we had another We have some shots to hit, but I think this is the Callaway golf ball fit for you. So, I missed that. Let’s see what happens. How did you miss it? Uh, it’s a little chunky, maybe. And now on the toe. Okay. Well, I will say the spin. I’ll just note that um that shot was what 8138 spin and uh I believe that’s higher than all of the Chrome Tour X shots. So, yep. Chrome TX was in here. Oh, we got Yep. No, it’s it’s that the chrome TX is higher than all than that one. Sorry. That’s what I meant. Um, so yeah. Do you want to hit one more? Yeah, maybe just just to get a full full feel. Yep. Yeah, that that seems more uh representative of Yeah, that’s a great feel. Great ball. Kind of mid7s on the spin. Yeah. Here, I’m gonna grab and I’m gonna grab that one shot that we uh gonna take out of there. So, we’ve got, you know, our we’re living in the kind of call it average of about low to mid7,000s, right? 7423. Um, I like that for you. 133 smash, which with a seven iron is uh is that the highest? No, we had a chrome the chrome tour was actually a little higher, but um nonetheless, is 175 about your your seven iron number? Yeah, I like that. Yeah, that seems about perfect for you, huh? Because I know you like to be you kind of like to be a little over 7,000 with the spin. That’s what you’ve said before. Um to hit the shot that you need. That seems like it’s right up your alley. That was great. So, like that a lot. All right. Now, let’s go to driver. This I’m curious about here. So, um Oops. We’re gonna All right. I got three three good swings in me here, Drew. Yeah. Okay. That’s towy. Oh, interesting. Yeah, a little towy. That’s interesting. Interesting that it cut back. You didn’t expect that to cut back, did you? No, I thought that was so far left. Okay, it actually turned out all right. Toe miss always plays. Okay, it’s actually I mean carry, smash, spin, it’s right in line with what we’re looking for. That’s a really I mean that in terms of pure result that is about as good as it gets, right? Okay. 116 height, too. Okay. All right. Triple diamond. That one was high on the face and way right. Wow. Can I just say though, the spin didn’t go up as high as it probably would have with Well, yeah. You hit that shot with the with the X. Yeah, that might be in the 5,000s, but maybe hit a couple more just because uh it also didn’t pick up all the info here. So, that’s ripped. Yep. Yep. Take that all day right there. One. That’s the shot. I mean, that is the shot that you’re looking for. 2600 launch around 13. Yep. Okay. Let’s see if we can get that club speed up to 115 on this one. You know, I think I I remember you doing this last week and you got it up there plenty good. So, he tells himself, “All right, I’m going to rip one.” And then he does it. So, we’ll try it out. Try not to hurt myself. Big fourball event uh coming up, you know. I gota Oh, yeah. Hell yeah. US qualifier or No, just the Minnesota. That’s right. That’s next week. MGA fourball. No way. Actually, it’d be a curious case. I really try to go after that. I almost got it up to 115, but I missed it. That is uh you know what that the best I mean that’s going to be doable on the golf. That’s like that’s like a bubble and move. You’re just hitting a couple extra clubs into the green. All right, let’s let’s do one more real one and then uh I think we can compare. That one can that can go away. Yeah, I think so. Oh, wow. Wow. Look at that one. Take that. That’s a great golf ball right there. All right. Really good. So, we’ve got some data to look at here, folks. That data. We’ll start with let’s see how should we start here. Should we go driver first? Yeah. I mean really my favorites just anecdotally here are are the the ERC soft. I’ve really enjoyed that and that last triple diamond I think was very consistent. Yeah. Seemed like uh that was the best one for you. All right. We’re we’re clicking on stuff here what we’re doing. And so what I’m going to do then is uh bring up that bring up the map here. Let’s see what we got. All right. So here’s our carry dispersion for the golf balls. Unfortunately, we kind of we doubled up on a couple colors here. So I’ll try to highlight them as best I can. Here’s the chrome tour triple diamond. To me, that’s the best dispersion up there. Yep. Agreed. Um and again we’re this is a small sample size. So um you know this is obviously a scientific test would include a lot more shots but you know for as as good as the freight train cost Barnett is here we don’t want to put him through 300 golf swings but that to me is the best set of three shots up there and it’s also the furthest up there in terms of carry distance at 278. Nothing is close to that. Nothing actually within six yards. It’s because that spin rate is the best up there and and the most consistent plus or minus 139. Yes. Compared to I mean the next closest is the the X which spun a lot. Yeah. And the other ones are 500 plus. Yep. And uh you know Chris makes a comment here after seeing the other two ball videos he’s watched. He says I will say Callaway doesn’t make his ball. And I know you I mean you’re playing a prov for a reason, right? Um, you know, but I think out of these out of for driver for sure, I think Chrome Tour Triple Diamond would be your ball. I think we saw the the issues arise with a couple of these, especially the Chrome Tour X. Um, way too spinning for me. And I think you made a great point, too, is like if someone needs more spin or they’re realizing, I think today so much with irons especially, some of them are strong lofted or, you know, players are hitting the ball too low with too little spin. Um, but maybe you just you love your club so much you don’t want them to change. One way to do that is to switch the golf ball to something that spins more. And it looks like in the Callaway lineup, the Tour X is one that can give you more spin. And for you, it was great. I mean, it was super efficient. It gave you a bunch of ball speed. Uh, it was just the spin was the big difference. Correct. Um, and so from that perspective, I think, um, I mean, I I think we got to go with we got to go with the triple diamond. Triple diamond. Absolutely. Again, we had some really good It was a really close race, honestly, with the driver up until the triple diamond. So, let me see here. I’m going to flip the screen and just uh go this over here. Then I’m going to I’m going to we’re going to recheck some boxes here. But in the meantime, I’m going to ask you, Kas, about feel with the driver with these. Did you have a preferred feel um with like They they all felt they all they all felt similar in terms of the cover and the feel. Uh the triple diamond obviously stands out, performed the best. Uh but feel was very consistent I thought through all the tour balls. Okay. Um yeah, I mean the tour balls are as we talked about the the construction layering materials are all very similar throughout. So there probably isn’t a whole big difference in feel, I guess. Um I mean compared to the the super soft or whatever, I mean that there’s a difference, right? So, if you’re looking after that feel, if you’re sensitive to that feel, um, at least get yourself into a ball that has a urethane cover that maybe gives you some of that feedback that you’re looking for. Yeah. Right. Right. Now, in terms of the the seven iron shots here, so this is interesting. We got some different dispersion patterns here. Um, we got the super shot. Those dots are highlighting right there. pretty big dispersion. We also saw this actually, weirdly enough, the furthest ball you hit today was with a super soft and I think that’s primarily because of low spin. Um you see this one here, the spin rate is 6100. Yeah. And so that in terms of spin, we got as low as 6100. We got as high as I think this one here, the Chrome Tour X, which was 8,900. Yeah, that’s nuts. That is a humongous dispersion. And I think, you know, again, we can talk about strike location and things like that, but the golf ball construction makes a world of difference there. And so the result was this. This one here, this is you just hitting seven irons. We had a 165 carry and this one here was a 185 carry. So the golf ball can be a difference of 10 15 yards with seven iron. I mean, this is someone like like you, you know, you’re you’re swinging it. You’re a really good golfer. You’re swinging it consistently. We saw these average carry distances change quite a bit here. Um, but I think the big piece was the spin. The Chrome Tour X lines up with what we saw at Driver. A lot of spin. Um, and the result is it’s actually the shortest one up there. You can see the dots jumping up and back and forth there or jumping up and down, I guess you can call it. Shortest on the map. Um, you know, we saw the chrome soft. It’s actually really good dispersion for you on there. That the spin is way down. You can tell spin is way down. Um, which again, some players want lower spin. Some players spin it a ton and they want it lower. That’s a really good option for them. Uh, here’s the ERC soft, which is one you liked as well. Some really good numbers there. Exactly 7,000 spin. Um, I mean, this is kind of a tossup in terms of seven irons. I know we liked one we loved for sure with Triple D with driver. I think it’s a little closer race with a seven iron. Agreed. The X is out. Obviously, I think it’s just too much spin. Uh, super soft, I don’t think it spins enough, right? But if you’re looking at the the Triple Diamond, uh the Chrome Tour, Chrome Soft, uh ERC soft, I think they’re they’re kind of right in that right in that wheelhouse for sure. I think all these are pretty close together. And I think I think a big part of that is they’re all, you know, trying to they’re all designed or not, you know, designed for lower full long game spin is kind of the is a common theme with these. So um and they’re all they’re all consistent, too. the the spin rates were consistent on all of them, which is another good good piece. So, um yeah, this was uh this was fascinating. We saw some things that we were surprised. The the increase in spin on the Chroma Tour X is just the wildest thing to It really is. I mean, 80 8600 or whatever was the average like so we got I mean it was out of nowhere. You hadn’t hit anything in 8,000 all day. No. And then you got to Chrome Tour X and you just were almost near 9,000 on one. And again, you you didn’t hit it perfect 128 smash, but it was like smashes are right there. Yeah. And my thought was, okay, well, maybe he’ll hit a couple solid ones and it’ll go back down to the 7,000. Nope. 8 8305 8524. So, that to me is the biggest takeaway is how much the Chromaturur X can spin. And if you need spin, it’s a great ball for you. Um, then the Triple Diamond brought everything down exactly where you want it. So, um, well, sweet. Any other final thoughts from from CS Freight Train Barnett today? Freight train here. I do think um my biggest takeaway, like I said, the ERC soft. If you need a a budget golf ball, I really liked the feel. It felt familiar coming from a Prov1 or a Tour Ball. Um and and the Triple Diamond uh was a kind of a dark horse. Hadn’t hit it before, and I think it was uh the sweet spot for me and a little bit about what my game’s all about. So, those are the two the two takeaways for sure. But, uh, nice lineup across the board and lots of different options for really any golfer out there, uh, looking to play a Callaway golf ball. Yeah, that’s that’s that’s what all these companies do. They give options and, um, it’s up to you to go test them out. We do a ball fitting as part of our tour fittings at Second Swing. So, uh, consult with your fitter about the golf ball you’re playing and, uh, we’ll help you dial that in as well. So, um, we got a question from Chris. Is Bridgestone next? um potentially next week that it will not be Bridgestone Ever because next week we have Frederick Wadell joining us from Titalist. He kind of directs the the R&D on the golf ball side of things for Titus. He’s going to join and talk to us about the the tech uh behind the Titleist golf ball lineup. So that’ll be a really good conversation. So join us 1 p.m. next week for that. Uh unfortunately we will not have Kas Barnett the freight train hitting swings for us next week, but I think we’ll get a ton of information from uh Mr. Wadell. So uh K, thank you so much. That’s that’s the end of the live at lunch today. Join us next week, 1 p.m. Central on the Second Sing YouTube channel.

Hope you do the same for Taylormade balls
Impressive performance by the Chrome Tour TD!
Would have been good to include Warbird given its popularity and comparability to Velocity from prior Titleist video.
