A very special start to this preseason friendly against AC Milan for Chelsea. Keeper Mike Manuel captains aside [Applause] number with Jamie Gittens on the left hand side celebrated his 21st birthday when he played on Friday and he’s won a free kick for the challenge by Ununice Musa there. It’s a lovely little step over move the ball quickly from that right hand side. I was just wondering if he was going to do a Benfica. Yeah, it’s a slightly tighter angle, but clipped it in instead. Oh, it’s gone all the way through and in. And Chelsea take the lead with 5 minutes on the clock. May well have been an own goal. We’ll have to wait for the replay to confirm that, but it was a devilish delivery from the Chelsea skipper and it’s taken no time at all for the Blues to strike first here. Matt, I’ve got no idea how this is end up in the back of the net. Yes, it’s a great delivery. And yes, they’re deep on the edge of the six shard box. Aren’t we looking for Mike Man to do something there? He’s stuck to his line. I think he’s got to come and claim that, man. Can we build on it? He didn’t manage really to build on it on Friday evening until late on. However, Chelsea come again. Tidy from Chisedo into James who’s moved out to Pedro Netto. Enzo Fernandez an option for him. Well, Sanchez didn’t know anything about the save and they didn’t have much time to react to the second opportunity either, but showing a little bit of something in an attacking sense in the last couple of minutes. The visitors. Yeah, that’s twice now. They’ve got through quite easily through the middle of the park. The shot comes in. Yeah, you’re right. It just he he he makes sure he doesn’t go to ground. I I don’t want to see that because we need minutes. We need we need 11 v 11. That’s not going to help us if he goes down. It’s pro. You tell what it’s borderline a referee. I don’t get that, Matt. Well, it’s going from bad to worse. Now, honestly, I don’t I don’t understand that. I’m not even sure there is a red, you know. I’m not totally convinced it is. I think that’s a poor decision from the referee. Well, it completes a miserable afternoon for Andre Kubis. He’s got an own goal and a red card to his name, and we not played for 20 minutes yet. Palmer and James the principal characters over the free kick here. Who’s taking this M? Palmer addressing the ball and bending it round and hitting the post. My goodness me. What a strike that was. Manon will tell you he had that covered. I’m not sure I believe him. No, it’s He bends it. He just can’t quite bend it. And oh, you can see the perfect angle we just seen on our monitor here. Bends it around the wall. Gets enough whip. Well, not quite enough whip. comes off the outside of the post. Mike Manuel has not got that covered, let me tell you. He he’s had a sight. He can only go that same corner that he did against Brighton. Surely it’s Palmer. Oh my goodness me. Well, Jason wasn’t the only person inside Stanford Bridge who thought that had hit the net. A whisker away from Cole Palmer. Wowers. Wowers again. Mike Manion. there was slightly closer to that one than he was the one at the post in all honesty. But if he’d done his homework, he’d know. I don’t know, Matt. If that’s going top, I’m not sure he gets that in all honesty. Just to finish on Palmer, by the way, on the ball now for all that talk of the dip that he had, he’s still got more Premier League goals and assists than anybody else for Chelsea last season. And Zo Fernandez looking for Pedro. And then Palmer had a scissor kick attempt, which ends up in the lower tier of the shed, but nearly saw Manon picking the ball out of his net for the third time in half an hour. should do better really. I’m going to be critical here of Palmer. Lovely play down the right hand side again. The width of the pitch to be used this time. Enzo just floats one in. Palmer then just the ball’s over the top of Xiao Pedro. Expect better from Palmer. Oh, great play here from Milan. They’re surely going to get a goal back. Somehow they haven’t. Everything but the finish. 10v10 at the moment. Dra Pedro. Oh, hit Giddens. He’s going to run for Palmer though. Driving on Cole Palmer. Finally, Jamie Gittens and Musa did enough to put him off. Well, AC man should score. There’s no doubt about that. They’re after a corner and the referee’s not giving it. Jamie Gittens and Palmer are both doing the international side for the the palms out shrug shoulders. But Reese does so well to get himself back goal side. Matt got a bit overloaded. Netto kitten’s urged to shoot and probably ought to have hit the target. Yeah, he’s uh little bit of an excitable puppy. Needs to have a little bit more composure in those areas there. Brilliant run down the right hand side from Pedronetto. Gins has a good first touch. Should hit the target. The goal’s gaping. He’s still out. Oh, drilled it low across. Beautiful ball. Shout for a penalty there as well. And it’s going to be given. Estab wrestled to the ground. Michael Solsbury had a thing and then pointed to the spot. Well, it’s a brilliant ball that still drilled across the face of the sixyd box. I’ve often said this, some of the best crossers in in the game on the center fors. They know where they want it. Drills it across. From this angle, I can’t quite see whether there is a foul or not. It’s hard to tell, Matt. Well, it’s only a friendly, but this is a pressure moment for Liam Dil in front of the Matthew Harding stand. Joel Pedro’s already scored today. Already got his first official goal. Now looking for his first at Stamford Bridge. Dilap versus Manong. Oh, he’s drilled it into the bottom corner. Brilliant penalty from Liam Dap. And look what it means to him. That number nine shirt carries a very very special weight. He’s just made it a little bit lighter on his back with that dispatch clinically. Chelsea three acutely right about the pressure because he’s seen what Pedro has done and he has to score and he does. It’s a brilliant penalty. Drills it hard and low to the goalkeeper’s right. He smashes it in actually. Great power. Now Chelsea’s dominance in this game reflects in the score line. Salamaka’s clever ball that real chance here and they do have a goal back. Yousef beats Robert Sanchez at his near post and 10-man Milan have some credibility to the score line from their perspective. And again Matt, there have been moments in this game where we have looked a little bit vulnerable defensively. It’s a lovely piece of skill. Some lessons to be learned in this game defensively, man. I I think that there are we do look a little bit too open at times when you’re in possession. The shape of the team is so different. Anyway, Chelsea on the ball. Estau into the box. He’s going to shoot as well and Steal brings a good save from Mike Man to tip it behind for another corner. Looking for his second goal here in a couple of days. Yeah, one thing on his mind. picks it up on the right hand side and cuts in on that favorite left foot of his. Oh, it’s another goal for Liam Dat just to put the cherry on top of the cake for Chelsea in the final minute of the 90. He’s off the bench to score twice and Chelsea have hit four as they warm up for the new season in the best way possible. Yeah, brilliantly taken. Not dissimilar actually to the goal that Xiao Pedro scored on Friday evening. Same corner. Similar distance. Just drills it, gets good contact on it. Really well crafted down the right hand side. It’s just a little flick inside. Who actually flicks it inside here? Matt Liam Dap at the double. That was the last kick of the game and Chelsea have won it by four goals to one. And this preseason, as brief as it’s been, has delivered everything that the Blues were hoping it to. Indeed, absolutely. Lots of goals. Very pleased about some individual and collective performances that we have seen in particular. Xiao Pedro in the end coming off the bench and getting his brace, but there will be stiffer tests ahead, that’s for sure. But yes, well done, boys. And uh a beautiful uh afternoon has produced lots of goals. What’s not to love? Yeah, preseason rounded off in style. A week from today, the serious business begins.
