[Music] We are back. The first pod together in what, three weeks? Two weeks. Adam, good to hear your voice. Good to see your face. Let’s talk some uh Southwind. Let’s I don’t know if I want to talk some Southwind, but we’ll talk some Southwind. Let’s talk some golf. Yeah, glad to be back. A few weeks ago, because as people who listen to the pod regulars will know, I’ve been traveling a little bit from New York to SF different times a year. I was going to be out here in SF. You can tell that I’m in SF cuz there’s no summer here. I’m outside with the the uh quarter zip zipped all the way up. Uh if anyone’s watching out at Olympic Club, uh it’s gray. I I don’t think I’m going to be able to make it over, but potentially tomorrow, Jar, I might be able to make uh my way over to the Olympic Club for Yeah. I mean, I just I literally just took the leaderboard. Uh Miles B comfy four under round today. Obviously, we’ll be in that uh round of 64. or do you have any uh US AM predictions or just Miles Russell all the way? Is he just taking it? I would say that and first of all before I say anything else, apologies to the listeners. Obviously, I want to be on the pot as much as possible. Shout out to Jur. Shout out to Matt for holding this down while I’ve been uh out here when you don’t have much time. You got to do prioritization and the site comes first. Obviously, the subs come first. Getting stuff on the site. Staying focused there. I haven’t been able to squeeze in the pod, but glad I was able to find some time to chat today. But I would say you would be screwed at the US and because it’s simply too cold. It’s simply too gray. Uh so I think the key for the round of 64 is strokes gained accepting the fact that you have to wear a winter parka in August. That I think that’s the key. All right, then my pick is officially Arie Spencson. Arie Spencson is taking it uh he’s played yesterday Viking Cup could be the key. Yeah, and we know that we have the Danish Golf Championship this week, which I’m sure we’ll touch on later in the show because that’s probably the key event of the week. But where do we want to start? We want to start with with Tommy. I do I do feel like because it was what was it? It was I was last time I was in SF when Tommy suffered uh what Tommy suffered at Travelers and you texted me I think I hadn’t seen your card yet. We were texting I think about Colin because I had saw the Colin had another caddy on the bag. I texted you call an unserious golfer. You texted me back saying you’re gonna hate my card this week. I saw thought to myself this is the most without Scotty market card I’ve ever seen in my life. But you you didn’t go to the without Scotty market. I saw Tommy at the top of the card. And I liked it. I wrote up Tommy at DFS. I figured Tommy would play good. Made sense. I didn’t see the final round. I was following it on my phone. I saw obviously what took place. How did it compare to Travelers? Which was worse? Which pain? Do you think I felt more pain or do you think you felt more pain? You for sure. That I mean he invented a new way to lose at the Travelers like like we talked about before that that shot on 17 out of the bunker should have been his downfall and he hit a great shot there ended up two putting a par. What he did on 18 at Travelers was was just a joke. But I mean on Sunday he started off pretty unserious was he was minting fairways all week and then he got into this zone of like just fanning fanning irons or pulling iron just not flushing them but he was in position like all all all round on Sunday. He made a long putt on the back nine. I think it was hole 11. Got himself back into back into the zone was flushing it again. And then 16 the par five middle of the fairway hits a flares it right. He tried to draw it in but he just flared it right. was in a spot that everyone was getting up and down from and he chips it over the green and then gets it up and down for par, but that should have been a straightforward birdie from there. Does the same thing on 17, a tough drive, but he’s in the middle of the fairway. He The the thing that made me pissed off 17 was he it was a front right pin and he was talking to Ian about picking the club. He chose a longer club, which I loved. They’re going to try to hit a a fade in there. We know Tommy’s not a phaseman. He’s he’s a tight draw guy. I don’t know why he tried to like hit a perfect shot and go out that front right flag. I got a question on on that actually because I texted to you I was able to watch I watched like probably the front nine on Saturday when Tommy got off to a little bit shaky start and Rose was getting dialed in. How much of Tommy’s situation do we blame on Strokes Gain? Caddy, we like no beef. We’ve said this before. Ian’s a great guy. We love him. He’s overcome some hardships. Like fully support him. But I it he he’s not inducing any confidence in Tommy. Like I think there’s just too many bad memories. How much do you percentage- wise do you think is Tommy and how much do you think is stroking K? And I honestly a lot of it I feel like there’s a lot of indecision and like a lot of I don’t guesswork. I don’t know because they looked so unconfident like on that shot on 17 and on that shot on 18 at Travelers. Like I don’t want to say 50/50 but I’m leaning towards more than we probably would have thought going into this season. like all the Tommy heartbreak we know in his career. But I think a lot not even we got a stand bag I saw I I don’t know if that was legit that was real a standag. Yeah, I tweeted that the stand bag plus the TP5 picks just it it makes it so good. Like you can’t be a serious hit winner with the standag and TB5 picks. But I I wasn’t I really wasn’t hurt to be I I wasn’t I it was Tommy Flootwood. I I figured he’d get in the mix. I dyed myself a sweat. I got a good number and it wasn’t the most painful is somebody what is a good number on Tommy because he’s never gonna win. So like we’ve had a segment before which is is there ever a bad bet over 100 to one? What is the right number on Tommy? Actually you’re absolutely right. So maybe it was. Nonetheless, he gave me a sweat and I was there. Honestly, I had a really almost like a full cash out offer. I just happened to check when he was up two with three to go and I was thinking like should I just do this right now and I’ve never done that before but I should have obviously um up to up two with three to go kind of makes it hurt a little bit more but nonetheless it’s Tommy Fleetwood and he I didn’t look recovered from it today which we’ll get to later but did not look like he was ready it like it was crazy how much it was like travelers too and also I think like he is it TPC Tommy is that what we have to I remember cuz he’s anytime it’s positional TPC cuz it was the exact same thing cuz on Saturday what he hit like every fairway again except on 18 when he sprayed it right and made bogey. Same thing on travelers. Saturday he literally hit every single fairway and then Sunday like I was following the app and seemed like he got off to a slow start and then Scotty got in the lead with JJ and I was like oh he’s probably cooked and then next thing I knew he was Another question for you. What happened to Scotty? Why did he hit a T-shot 130 yards off of the tea? I that was right as I was checking the app and I was like, “Oh, Scotty’s tied for the lead or like right at the lead. He’s probably got this.” I click him, drops down, and it says like 40 yards to the rough to something to the hole. And I was like, “Is this a glitch? What What happened to Scotty?” Yeah, he hit two uh three-woods off the tea on Sunday and they were both pulled just straight left. First one he got away with. Second one obviously hit the tree and I believe he ended up making bogey there. But it was a insane second shot. But it was that three-wood that he hit uh just he gets like he had the left miss kind of haunted him all year. Obviously not enough to make him like have a horrible year. But that that caught up to him uh too much and I think they asked them about it in his pressure. I didn’t read the whole thing, but I saw a headline talking about his uh t-shot on that hole, but it was just he pulled two three-woods on on Sunday. Strokes game chaplain hasn’t worked out great for Scotty the couple of times uh we’ve seen that now. No, it’s it’s been tough. And Ted Ted Scott’s not there again this week. Um hope all is well in the Ted Scott camp, but um so he’s but he’s got Chris Kirk’s caddy on the bag this week who is an absolute stick from what I’ve heard and a winner. So I think that could work out well for I hopefully Ted Scott still has a job on the I basically the way I was following the tournament afterwards was catching up on your tweets from the tournament just and you described it as the most high dog playoff of all time. Obviously Jay Rose I think going into the week was 11th in the top global top 50 of the dog rankings. I think JJ was around 15 or 16. So top 20 dog guys sounded like putts were going in from everywhere. Sounded like a high dog situation. S I think you tagged me in a tweet. Somebody was asking for updated dog rankings. Give me what took place in the playoffs because I I still actually haven’t even seen the highlights of what took place. Uh but it sounded unbelievable. Yeah. So, first of all, I was actually I was watching the tournament with my uh with my friend Jack and I was telling him about how uh Billy Horchel got Aaron Ry across the finish line at the Windom, which we know he lended him the dog. And I was I brought it up like Rose is out of this. Rose out of this. Like, let’s see if he can give Tommy some of that dog. I know they’re best friends, but then Rose goes on a run birding four of his last five. Like, no. Imagine being on that guy. Like, we’ve never experienced that. Like, a guy doing that down the stretch. the only time I’ve experienced that because I also knew when Tommy uh lost Travelers that I would never hit a winner ever again. It was such it was like there’s no way to ever recover from this. It’s too painful. But just a few weeks later was Sam Stevens was charging home at the 3M and Kurt was like starting to slow down after Kurt was having the greatest birdie stretch in the history of golf and I was like this is this going to be the time where like somebody swoops it on 18 and no literally the announcer’s on 18. Sam Stevens hits it in the like perfect drive barely sinks into the rough. terrible live like this is horrible luck for Sam Stevens. like of course this happens but no I’ve never experienced uh what that run for JRose must have been like uh on yeah so I explained the situation maybe he can uh lend lend Tommy some dog obviously JRO was like all right this isn’t the case I’m playing with Tommy Fleetwood I’m just going to be myself and inject all this dog into the universe so he did that to himself birdied four of the last five uh JJ was down two going into 17 he birdie 17 with a really nice putt down the down the slope just was took about a foot a yard from going into the bunker and struggling for par, but he ended up making birdie. So, it was a big swing there. Tommy obviously makes that uh bogey. So, there’s the swing and then in the playoff it’s like they play 18, they have to switch the hole because they played too they played I think two holes. I’m a I’m a big supporter of the whole change. What are you on board? If you’re not gonna switch the if you’re not if they want to play 18 over and over again because the fans are there then yeah, switch the whole location. I think they started doing that in Canada and it was sick. Yeah. And like they should do it. The more holes they play, they add another hole and you can go to any other hole. Like it could just be like wherever you want to make birdie like end it quicker. But so they were just like hitting great shots. Rose was fully committing to the driver. He was sending it over the water. There was one time he cleared it by that much and then uh uh Spawn was hitting three-wood out there. They were both hitting great iron shots. Uh and Rose got it done. Made that putt on the new hole location. Spawn had a great look, but it was just good shot after good shot, flag after flag, putt after putt. Um, so shout out those two. Shout out JJ Spawn, like just the player he’s became this year. Obviously had him at Sony when he wasn’t that player, but is what it is now. And he’s hopefully a rider. Also, I I did see obviously I’ve also been trying to to keep tabs on the Discord as much as I can. I I did see because ultimately with Rose, we’ve talked about it a million times. Does he care or not? You were leaning last week that he doesn’t care update. Did he care or not? He turned out to care and I was gonna give I was going to address that because gonna give my honest input. I did not think Rose really cared too much about the uh FedEx St. Jude like he spoke about in interviews like I would trade multiple PGA tour wins for another major. We know what he was what he wants. But uh Rose can still compete. So shout out to him. I was wrong on you. Um and but always never mad to see Jay Rose get in the mix or or win nonetheless. And I Herz had a guy in there, but uh always a good good watch for Rose. Yeah, shout out Rose. High dog player at the end of the day. High dog player. Uh playoff winner. You never take that away from him. I I did uh in updating the model yesterday and updating the dog rankings. I bumped him up. He’s in the top 10 now. I think he was 11 or 12th. Uh belongs in the top 10. Billy Ho is holding his position. We’re we’re not going to touch Billy Hoe uh until he gets back, obviously. Um, okay. Well, I appreciate you giving me the lowdown on what took place at Southwind. The It’s unbelievable that we both have experienced Tommy at his best and his worst uh this year, but I’m excited to hear because you’re out there at Cage Valley. You’ve got a a boot surprise, you know, end of season boots. Would you consider this a home game? How I know it’s like you have a lot of home games anytime golf’s being played on the East Coast, but how much of a home game is this? And this is one of the reasons why obviously I had to had to make some time to to squeeze in the pod here. When we’re getting bent, I’ll be there. I’ll be on the pod when we’re getting bent. So I I’m curious, is this a home game for you or not? Yeah. I mean, like it was today kind of felt really cool driving past uh old Mustang Stadium where I played some some college football, college lacrosse. Like I haven’t been there in like five five or four or five years. So, I did spend five years in Owings Mills, Maryland. I know the town very well. Uh, saw some I already saw some people I knew back in college. It was I didn’t even just ran into them at at the gym. So, it was funny. But, yeah, I would say this is a home game. Been to Case Valley before, played a ton of golf in this area. And, uh, it’s good to be back, you know, I’m not the biggest fan of like of Baltimore and my city rankings. We know we, you know, we rank cities, but um, we’re here. It feels good to be back. little northeast and yeah, home game. I I’ll call it home game. I’ve actually been to Baltimore a few times. Better maybe than I would have thought. Definitely agree. Not in the in the top 10 probably of boot cities historically. But my question would be is there I guess did Space qualify because Strokes gained Under Armour could be in play here um as well. No, Jordan’s not in the field. But yes. Do we have any Under Armour players in the field? I don’t believe so. No. Are there any other Under Armour golfers besides Fif? I I don’t know why. I feel like Mav wore Under Armour shoes, but I don’t think that’s right. But I in my in my mind, I feel like Maverick wore Under Armour shoes at one point, but I don’t think Well, keep you’ll be because uh you’re getting the biggest key stat of the week. Who was wearing the Under Armour? Just report back. Get rid of anything you’ve written in the boost report and just put the Under Armour logo next to any player that has uh that’s all we need to know. Got not Yeah, Godup and Novak went to the Ravens practice today, so they’re getting in with the Under Armour with the Baltimore. So, that could be big. I mean, I I assume Novak’s just there for podcast prep, but um he was there nonetheless. So, we’ll see how that works out. So, my big question and and as we pod, my phone battery slowly whittleles down. So, we’ll see uh how long this goes on, but I was crunching the numbers last night. Obviously, there we played Caves Valley or the tour played Caves Valley in 2021, uh BMW Championship. Shout out Pat. Probably the most driver putter event in the history of golf. Like, literally has to be number one. Like I I wrote it up on the article. I I talked about it on the site. Like I don’t even know how else to describe it. It was the most driver putter event that’s ever taken place and it was even more like putter. Like it wasn’t even I think people think back of Case Valley because as Bryson was up there and hitting it long and straight and obviously Pat, you know, when he’s on is a great driver, but it was still even more putter. Like you could there was only two guys in the field who gained over four strokes off the TE. So like there was no penalty for wayward driving. every player was hitting the green and hitting it to like 20 to 25 feet because there was a lot of long irons. It’s hard to hit your long irons closed no matter like how good you are and then it just became a bent off of who could make the most putts. How bent is it out there right now? And is this going to be another bent off? Yeah. And especially with the elevation change like you know like you see a hole like damn that’s a bent hole. There’s a ton of that out here today with the uphill par4s. Um yeah up an uphill par4 and bent this is just so bent. So yeah, um definitely bent and and I I actually laugh because I didn’t read your write up until I was driving driving driving up this morning and I was joking in my writeups about the driver putter stuff like that and then I I saw your stuff about how driver P it was it is so driver P out here and I testwise I was here in 21 I was here now driver P remains in play and like you look at the leaderboard Bryson Rory uh Pat that’s driver P. So, but even Sunj like I think that’s the thing where it’s like I don’t Sunj now is driver Pete extra. Yeah. Yeah. That’s the only way he’s keeping Did he make the top 50? Sunj is here. Will he was the first person I saw by the way. Rolled his window down when I was walking out. Who was the Cuz I like obviously when I was watching on when I was watching on Saturday, they’ve got the like who’s in, who’s out, but then I didn’t end up seeing who was in and who was out. Who was the most shocking player in the top 50 list? or when when you saw them out there, you were like, I can’t believe this guy’s in the top 50 because Sunj would be up there for me because his even come close to playing good in in Sanjay might make East Lake, which is crazy, but um Hogy being up there or in the top 50 was surprising. And who else? I I mean, not not surprising, but it’s still funny seeing Brian Campbell out there. Never seen him practice with anyone. He’s only practiced alone his entire career. Well, Pots isn’t there, so who do you practice? Well, Pots isn’t there yet. It’s only Pots or alone. So that the the driver boys. Uh yeah, but it was probably Tom Hogi who is always surprising. CD was the craziest in the top 70. We were texting about that last week. Unfortunately, he couldn’t ride the weight of his love of uh TBC Southwind to the top 50. But so you’re reporting this is no breaking news. We’ve got driver putter again. You’re not here. And we’ve said this before. We don’t go to boots with the intention of giving a contrarian take just for the heck of it. Think obviously at the open we had a contrarian view that ended up playing out but we also when it’s obvious it’s obvious. You’re saying stick to the driver P game plan this week. Stick to the driver P game plan this week. It’s a very long course. You can only hit it so close on so many holes. There’s obviously a few uh there’s like one and a half drivable holes and there’s a few like flip wedge holes, but it’s going to be mainly drive it long. And I guess we could talk about some of the course conditions because it hasn’t changed much from 2021. I do want to touch on the it’s called the preferred air system. I’ll double check that. But it’s a new it’s a new subair. It’s never I don’t think it’s been used before. Is it created by the same look this up because if we’ve got rivalry in the subair industry that’s interesting. Precision air system. I I don’t know if it was created in Florida. I don’t know. I can’t research it right now, but maybe I’ll put that in the report. Precision Air. It’s new. They they they tore apart like every single green here. Made the greens a little bit different. But I will say, I mean, obviously, we’ve talked about this before. Putting is the hardest thing to boots because we don’t It’s hard to see who’s going to putt. Well, if we did, we’d be unbelievable. Only Brooks. Only Brooks can be boots putting. Only Brooks. Yes. But, um, there’s a few greens that were different and there’s a few guys really grinding on the greens. Colin to be specific. Um, but nonetheless, the greens don’t look too tricky. They just look different. I guess than they were in the past. But I don’t think that’s really too much of a point because this is basically a new course for everyone. They saw it one time ever. So I think they’re just seeing some new greens and getting ready for cool. Yeah. And what I was what I don’t know if I ended up saying this or not about Sunday that like I know they or I guess this is the question. So they’ve lengthened it maybe like 200 yards. I think I saw obviously they changed the par from 72 to 70 but that doesn’t necessarily change the keys of the course. that may change the scoring or some of the difficulty. And it’s like I’m not thinking about this as like bomber putter. I’m thinking about it as driver putter. And even though that sounds the same, at least to me, I think about it more of like just solid driving. If you’re like always gaining off the tea, whether you do it with a lot of distance or whether you do it with a lot of accuracy and some distance, like just get the ball in play and then get the ball on the green and make a ton of putts. That’s a Yeah, I do. I do I do think that’s fair. I will say I’m definitely leaning distance over accuracy 10 times out of 10. There’s I mean obviously if you hit a wayward drive you’re going to be in trouble. That’s that that’s any golf course in the world though. But I really I saw a lot of reports about the rough being a problem. The rough being up three four inches. You can hit the ball out of this rough like more times than not. I’m seeing a little bit of reports on rain. I it’s it’s not 100% though. It’s a little wishy-washy with the rain. If the rain kicks up that will obviously make the rough a little bit thicker. make the golf course a little bit longer. But I’m definitely as of now heavily leaning towards uh distance heavily over accuracy because like you said with an iron from the rough with a long iron from the fairway, how much closer you really going to get it if you could still get it to the green. So I’m definitely leaning distance. I will say that not every golf course you can’t hit it anywhere because there’s that course we played in Oakland where you could literally hit it wherever you want off the T. So yes, there is that. And when you come when you come to the shore eventually hopefully shout out Bailey Thomas River New Jersey if you’re listening to the pod you played Bailey you know you could hit it anywhere there so you could have a potential field day at Bailey if we play it. about I on our own personal golf games. I have to note that I was back in Seattle this last weekend for a wedding and one of my roommates from college who I then lived with after college has my old set of irons which I used to flush generationally back in the day. I have not been able to hit an iron good for like three or four years but it’s cuz I got a new set of stricks on. shout out wrist uh strokes gain dog stricks on has not translated to my iron game whatsoever. I cannot hit these things at all. You’ve seen it. It’s thin. It’s it’s not good contact repeatedly. And I’ve been thinking to myself, this is weird because the one like long game thing I always used to be pretty good at was irons. And now I can’t hit them at all. I’ve been trying to figure it out. I got these bad boys back in my hand flushing again. So, I like if I can combine the new driver that I got, get my old iron set back in the bag, and we know the short game’s there. I think that’s my path to being back. But you are legit back, or I don’t even It’s not even back. I think you’re so forward into something that’s never happened before. You had a generational round a couple days ago. Yeah. I mean, I I Well, first of all, I when you when you hit when you parlay shots together like you hit a great driver and a great iron, like it sounds like you played golf in your life and what you have, so you know what you’re doing. So, if you can get if you can steal them from your friend like or ask him like, “Hey, here’s a few hundred bucks. Let me get them back.” Well, there Well, the funny thing is at the end of the round cuz I took I had like a few clubs from home that I brought, but then I was just sharing his bag. I had my old wedge with me and it was still in my bag and he goes, “Hey, can I get my wedge back?” I went, “Well, technically, yes, you can because I don’t need it, but that is my wedge. Let’s not forget how this came to be.” Don’t forget where you came from. But um I remember we talked after uh we played at in in Ireland and I like had a few rounds where I was like, “Damn, I feel like I hit the ball really well, but like it was just so windy. I wasn’t like doing anything great, but I feel like I was like I I feel a good round coming.” And it came about two three weeks after my career low round, but I’m still volatile. Like I I I went 9375 on the exact same golf course two straight days. Keith Mitchell. Keith Mitchell. Yeah. So I I need to I mean this I I I’m never gonna be mad. I shot my career low round this summer and I’m trending in the right direction. Shout out Rrist. He’s really helping me. I’m grinding very hard. I’m practicing trying to get better. So um and Do you think you played the most golf of anyone in the United States this year? Over the summer. I do think I played the most almost too much. I I I’m starting I’m I get on like last week I played so much golf that I was like it was I couldn’t hit the ball. I was like this is way too much. I need and I was actually thinking about that professional golfers play so much golf and like do they like when you play so much like I don’t know how you really you just get in the stuck in these little swing fields and how do you break out of them? They’re just so impressive and honestly just another thing because they play so much golf. But I I also think that like we’ve said this before, like I would say a vast majority of PJ tour players seem like they love golf, you know, like they are they happy to play every day. But it’s not surprising that there’s guys we see out there and like you see them on TV and we’ve talked about them on the pod before who like it has to be a grind. They go like I was actually thinking about this weekend. I was talking to my dad about it like they could go four weeks in a row with we see them out there Monday practice, Tuesday, Wednesday, they play the tournament. Let’s say you came got into the mix. You like kind of had a feeling that on Monday you’re out there just going to the next course practicing like yeah it’s a great life and they make a ton of money. But it makes sense why some guys are just it is a job and it is and walking every day like I I needed a break from playing golf this past week and I was thinking like what you just said. It’s surely a grind. Okay. Well, I will be my I think I’m going to be acquiring a new set of irons before I come down to Jersey because if if we play a course where I can spray it off the tea and I get and the thing is I can this set of irons I’m using is probably like 2014 Callaways. So, I could probably buy these for like a hundred bucks online. So, I’m going to get these in the bag. Uh and yeah, it’s it’s going to be good. I’ll get down there and we’ll we’ll have a match. I don’t I think I might need some shots based on how often you’ve been playing and how good you’ve been looking uh scoring wise. But okay, back to uh Capes driver putter, bomber putter, depending on how you want to look at it. I’m considering we haven’t talked actually on the pod since you hit CY and first of all at tip on the call for CY. Uh unbelievable moment took down Nikki Nations. Everybody in the world, myself included, was on Nikki Nations. Great performance from Nikki. I have no beef with what he did in the final round. Like he he made that I only watched the beginning of the round cuz he was so far back. So let’s see if Nations can get into the mix. He made that long putt and got like hyped with the fist pump on like three or four and then see why made it right after him and then I was he kind of gave up. He was like it’s not going to happen. See why is playing too good. So shout out to you for that. I I believe he’s most tipped. I saw the chart moments before the pod. I’m considering single bullet CY based on anything you saw out there which you talked me in or out of it. I know obviously the chart you won’t be there but taking that away is my single bullet cy strategy reasonable. Yeah and we talked a little bit and I said Cameron Young looked very confident and he’s been looking more confident since he obviously since he won like he’s played great again last week. This is in a is in an absolute groove. This new caddy he’s got in his bag is absolute great vibes. Shout out to him, by the way. I need to I’m gonna get his name before the pod. Very nice guy. Always like gives me a nod when I’m out there because I think I saw him in one of his first two weeks. And I think he thinks I’m I have a bigger role around the PJ tour world than I actually do. Is a pretty serious role. So, I mean, it’s um so the vibes that they have is really unbelievable. And Cam is in the tempo. You guys know Cameron Young’s swing and tempo. It is at a different level right now. It is so in rhythm, so in routine and uh he will be on the on the Brder Cup team. We uh I think things started to or at least we started to get signs of life when we saw him at Truist. We saw the things were looking better at Truist. It obviously didn’t wasn’t great that week, but it’s just like if we’re talking driver putter and in an event like this where there’s only 50 golfers, it’s hard for me to get excited about betting a bunch of guys to try to beat Scotty and Rory because I honestly when they’re in the field that would say what there’s a 70% chance that Scotty or Rory wins. Like I know that’s not maybe what the odds or the percentages would say. Like in my heart that’s how it feels sometimes going into a week with such a small field and in the form that they’re in. There’s not that many guys right now in form who fit driver putter mode and CY fits it perfectly. Like he’s literally putting the best he ever has. The driver looks great. Outside of CY, I know he’s on the chart so you won’t be there. Give me some more driver putter guys whether you saw them out there or not that are like on the tip of your tongue this week. Also, his name is Kyle Sterinsky. Played college golf with him at Wake Forest. So, shout out Kyle. Wanted to get get your name right there. Um, but Kirk Kittyama playing some good golf as well. Um, he’s more of a a high-end ball striker than a driver putter, but we know what he could do in terms of driving distance and strokes gain off the tea. Gets hot with the putter is really a question mark, but he’s been playing some good golf. And if Kurt wins this week, that adds a question mark into Beth Page. Yeah. So, Kurt and I I noted today Kurt I felt like Kurt is playing on house money right now. If you see the boot report, you’re gonna see the exact same write up. Playing with house money right now looks very happy to be there and looks very stressfree and just like out there to have a good time. And playing with house money vibes is dangerous. Like that just keep parlaying uh good vibes. And he was playing with JJ like absolute great vibes. Just cool guy. West Coast chillsman. I loved what I saw from Kurt. Um, Ryder Cup really quick because it’s been obviously a few weeks since we’ve potted. I’ve been on the record since May, early May, that if BG Ben Griffin is not on the team that I’ll be rooting for Europe at this point. If he’s not on the team, I will root for Europe forever. It won’t even this will won’t be a one-time thing. This will be a full switch of allegiance to European side. I mean, it was crazy to me that even two weeks ago, there was still like going into Windham, it was like, “Oh, he needs to play well.” Yes, it obviously it makes his chances now like all but guaranteed because he’s had close to top 10 results the last two weeks. I still will be like I’m still kind of just surprised that throughout the summer BG wasn’t getting more. But you’re you’re on board that it’s a it’s a lock now. Like if he’s not on the team, do we riot? Like what what happens? We definitely do riot. But I yeah, I definitely believe he’s on the team. Like he was like six in the FedEx Cup in the and like a question mark going into the playoffs which was which was funny. But yeah, he’s definitely on the team. I what is your like what is your team right now? Um I was I was thinking do I do a tweet but it’s really like who is those last few guys? Is it Pat? I don’t think God’s on the team but I was strong. I was like I had my opinion after he won that he wasn’t going to be on the team. Um I do think it’s Pat only because like we’ve we saw Pat and Keegan playing in Ireland. They’re playing again today. Really? And you see Ricky’s quote today. I don’t know if you saw PGA Tour posted it like Ricky had the interview today and I don’t know why it got I didn’t listen to the whole thing. I don’t know why it got brought up. Um it was something along the lines of if I’m the captain Patrick Canler is one of the best players in the world. So it just seems like they’re trying to cover up and get get Pat will be on there like as you said. I’m not mad about it honestly like we’re Pat guys but I think Pat is that last guy and then I guess that’s the Colin question. What’s your thoughts on him? I’ve given a lot of Colin takes this year. It’s almost like it’s it I think I talked maybe a few weeks a couple months ago like it was fun to make fun of Colin. I’m actually I don’t enjoy it anymore. I like it’s it’s kind of getting hard to watch. He was like when I watched on Saturday, what was he doing? What I don’t understand. He was like the only guy over par of anybody in the top 30. A new caddy every week. Does he have the same caddy this week or is he on to somebody new? Yeah, it’s uh he has a new caddy. Tony’s old Caddy and like you’ll see the report on Colin. I’ll I don’t want I’ll leave for the subs, but um if I’m I don’t need Colin on the team. I don’t like the thing about Pat is Pat has a history of doing sick stuff in team events. So like he can have and he’s like he’s playing not great, but it’s not he’s playing terrible either. He’s got a top playing he’s not playing bad golf at all. He’s just not like getting in contention and winning golf tournament. He’s playing good and he might get the boys paid this year. like get him on the team. Well, it’s been my take since the end of the last round that Pat should be playing captain and should get a sponsorship for the team and pay 25 million for if we went on the road. So, I’m still I need Pat on the team this year so he can be playing captain in uh Edora Mayor. I’m good on Colin. I don’t need Colin on the team. Colin doesn’t have the that track record where I can think of of him doing sick stuff in team events. But who like I don’t have the team up in front of me, but it’s like JT will be there, BG’s on the team. Who like who else would is making who else are the like lock captain picks? Let me pull up my the standings right now. So I mean Xander qualified today. So Russ qualified, Bryson qualified, Harris England Harris is probably going to qualify. That leaves Colin BG Keegan Mav Novak Harmon CY. It’s It’s between Kantlay, Burns, Cy, and Keegan probably. And and Colin for four out of those last five spots. Who gets left off there? See why is on. Burns I think should be off, but he’s going to be on. Burns will be on. And at least like Burns can get hot with the Potter. Is Keegan gonna play in captain or not? I this is this is I think it’s going to depend on this week like if Keegan top 10s I don’t think he can leave himself off but if he he’s starting to play a little bit worse but like Keegan has won twice in in a year he deser and he’s played fine golf and he has so much dog and heart like he he should I don’t think anyone would be mad if he picked himself over like these guys who are super super fringe like Kings won more than any of these guys. Yeah, like we loved BSB as much as anyone, but I don’t I don’t think I can get there unless BSB won. Like you to me, if you’re kind of a random guy, again, no beef to our boy BSB. Novak, I guess he did win, but now that we’ve seen what happened with BG, I’m giving that win to BG and half of a win to BSB. Uh Mav, I’m good. I don’t need Mav. I think the the random guys who can like with a win or on like not not the Collins or the Pats, a Mav or a Kurt win get them on this week. I’d rather have Kurt than Colin. They’re boys from Vegas. Give me Kurt. Yeah. No, I I I agree with you there. But I think those out of the two actually no. The random guys, uh, Novak, Mav, or Kurt, if they win this week, they’re on the team, I guess. or november winning this week, but I if I had to pick right this second, if if the if it started tomorrow, give me Kurt. He’s driving strapping beyond belief and he fits Beth Paige, I think, the best of those guys. But we’ll we’ll probably have plenty of time uh between now and the Ryder Cup to to dig in more there. And what honestly, more importantly, we’ll need to uh break down the European side because I don’t have those standings in front of me either. But obviously important there. Danish championship this week. Uh, that’s going to be unbelievable. That’s going to be certainly special stuff. Did you watch any next though? Because Trump Aberdine was flashing from from what I heard. Yeah, I actually meant to ask you, do we give out a major there because the scoring there was if they would have had it open there that week? It would have been a that place is awesome. I cannot imagine that you were there and you played that place like well the funny thing was I I’ve played it and then we’ve talked about in the open pod Royal Aberdine is just down the road and Royal Aberdine is the second link course that exists but now maybe they should have a dual open where they play one round or they go back and forth between Royal Aberdine and Trump uh Aberdine when I played it I guess it was a few years ago and it opened up somewhat recently so like it wasn’t playing like a Lynx course it it was kind of just like it looked like a Lynx course kind of but it wasn’t so I didn’t expect it to be as sick as it was. I didn’t watch much. I just saw there some highlights and saw the scoring. I didn’t expect it to play like a true Lynx, but then I saw our boy Connor sign put it at 100 yards off the green. And if that’s not links, then I don’t know what is. Yeah. I mean, and who else Connor sign to do that? One of the true BSBs. He is a BSB beyond belief. I saw people I saw people tweeting like like at DraftKings like investigate this guy for like point shaving. Like people were like this guy’s like this is intentional. I was like you don’t know Conor son. This was not intentional. This was just a bad half to speed wrong. But it was it was I did watch it. I don’t even think I had anyone to I had uh Dave Bryant off to a good start and uh Jack Senior there on the weekend because I was if you were under par weekend, you could have won it. So I was a little bit but it was just a great a great viewing experience to to watch some of that that golf tournament. Strokes home game. Shout out to Grant Forest. I wrote up actually on the on I didn’t finish my DP World picks uh yet, but honestly, you kind of put me on this. Playing for Pride and Nation on the DP World Tour is the strongest like stat you could have it. Oh, I bet you per year probably per year 40 to 50% of the events are home game winners. Yeah. And like we talk about home games all the time in the PJ tour never works out. DP home game works. And obviously this is a massive home game week for the Danish golf championship. So, could be fun. Who are all the Danes? There are the Hosas playing. Yeah. Oh my god. Okay. That Raasmus Negard Peterson’s home course. Okay. And it’s it checks out with the the way the style of golf he plays. It makes sense as to why that’s his home course. You’ll once you dive in, you you’ll get you’ll get you’ll see. Okay. Yeah. I uh I’ll be looking at that later this evening. Uh more driver putter guys. Sam Stevens is a driver putter guy and I’ve I’ve mixed with Sam Stevens a couple times over the summer. Uh I don’t think he can win this week, but I’m confident that Sam Stevens plays well enough. I think he’s 31st. It’s not going to take much for him to get into the top 30. I think Sam gets to East Lake. And you did you end up having a conversation with uh the bag man? Yes, I actually did end up talking to him on the range. Um, I do think this is a very high floor golf course for Sam Stevens. You mentioned the driver putter. That’s kind of what he is. And he’s performed well on these courses where you have to drive it long and straight. He’s not the longest hitter in the world, but he hits it far enough to uh get in position to hit hit iron shots close enough. And he looked looked apart out there today. It looks confident, which I love. And I think Sam Stevens knows he’s not close to winning, but just close to taking that next step and getting into the mix possibly at a big event. I also have like one more guy that I think can fill like that void. Like not win, but get into a m get into the mix at a big event and that’s Jacob Bridgeman. Um he is I really like this kid. He’s growing. Is he bent enough? I don’t think he’s bent enough, but he he won Memorial, so possibly. Okay, so Jacob Bridgeman, he impresses me all year long. He’s playing with his best friend Chris Gddarup. He also played today with Russ and Sam Stevens and was up money on them. I don’t know how the match ended up, but they were playing for $10 a bird or bogey. Thought that was funny because they’re these guys are make all the money in the world. They’re playing for 10 bucks unless it was code for something else, but um Jacob Bridgemond was was winning that match. Uh, important question for you at the top of the board. Does Caves Valley qualify as one of the famous courses that Rory wants to win at before the end of his career? Had this conversation, I think, with my buddy Dom last night. I I I don’t think so, but I there’s definitely like a it could see both ways. I think Rory is so carefree this week, like he’s there that it could be great for him. Free his mind up. I have a hilarious Rory quote in the Bootch Report that it’s so funny that I’m going to leave it for the subs. And um so but I don’t think the this golf course is worthy of checking a cool course enough list for him to hang hang on his uh Hollywood Golf Club mantle. So I’m out. A Caves Valley poster in the Hollywood Golf Club shop though would be special. It would be special. So I’d hyper you to see this work. It’s funny. Yeah. I haven’t I haven’t seen the report. I’ll be taking a look at that shortly. Couple more minutes here. I’m trying to think if I’ve got any other questions for you from being out there today. Oh, you mentioned Tommy. You said the vibes. It looks like Tommy hasn’t quite recovered from what took place. Uh obviously tough scenes there. So, the scenes are still not not But at least he’s out there. I guess it’s Tuesday. What day is it? Is it Tuesday? Tuesday. Today’s Tuesday. Yeah. Something with Tommy. I al I thought that Did you So, you didn’t see his interview post round, I would assume, right? I did actually go and read the quotes because I needed Oh, first of all, shout out Tommy. Both of these losses, he’s given quotes afterwards. We know that that’s not always something somebody does. I did read the quotes, but I didn’t get the energy behind the quotes because it was being read. So, his interview with Damon Hack, like literally like 10 minutes after the round, he did like a little like off the off 18th grade interview, which like shout out him for doing. I thought he was a little too positive then. Like, feel it, Tom. We would not we would not be upset if you like were like a little bit down. He was a little bit too positive again, which I was like, “Come on, bro.” But today, he did not look like he wanted to be there. He was like with with these the BMW championship every year. It’s sponsored by the Western Golf Association and they always have like the Western Golf like children caddies. Yeah. Caddy carrying the bags. And we know Tommy’s very upbeat, personal guy, but like the vibes in the group, it was like a little girl, Ian Finnis, and Tommy just walking up the fairway. He was chipping like did not want to he was playing alone. Did not look like he really wanted to grind really hard. But I mean he was hitting good golf shots. The energy just was was not there. I will say uh for Tommy that each time one of these losses happens it’s only increasing the chances that he goes 5-0 at the Ryder Cup with some of the like most clutch unbelievable shots in the history of golf. I don’t know why that is, but the worse it goes for Tommy at closing the door, I am expecting some historic clutch shots at the Ryder Cup. Just change the vibes and Tommy will deliver. Yeah, I totally agree with that for sure. Um, all right. Anything else uh that you saw out there that I should be aware of uh going into the Um, yeah, nothing really to write home about. There’s going to be some unique stuff in the Brute Report, but at the end of the day, it’s it’s driver putter. Don’t overthink too much into Caves and what we saw in 2021. I wouldn’t buy into the rough narrative too much. And Adam’s phone died, so I’m just going to close it out. Um, yeah. So, it should just be pretty straightforward. Driver, putter, bomb it a long way, and then make your 20footers. Um, DP World Tour, you back. You back. Your phone died. I’m back. Somebody called. Can you hear me? Yeah. Okay. I think I’m coming through the phone speakers now. Somebody called me. Uh, and everything went crazy, but we’re we’re wrapping anyway. So, I didn’t hear what you said. I’ll listen to the last couple minutes. I probably sound bad now because I think I’m coming through the phone, but uh glad that we could pot. Apologies to the listeners. I I this I’ll be back in New York on on Thursday, so hopefully clean potting for a while. Uh everything’s up on the side. Shout out to everybody who supports uh the content and shout out to you Jers for holding it down uh for the team while I’ve uh been out here in NSF. Yeah, thanks for hopping on longer than we thought. So enjoy the rest of your day and we’ll catch you guys next week with Tour Championship stuff. Peace.

  1. I think Keegs should give up his spot unless he smashes this week. However i do LOVE CAPTAINS Competitivness and His Swag he Plays with in Team Events as opposed to Burns or Colin.
