The New Flightscope Mevo Gen 2 Launch Monitor! – Top 5 Features and First Opinions
Right guys, when I say it’s an exciting day down here at Golf Swing Systems, I am not joking this time. Flight Scope Mebo Gen 2 has arrived and we have one of the first units in the UK right here, right now. Now, today, this is my first time getting hands- on with the device. So, we’re going to have a quick top five features run through and then I’m going to give you an honest first impressions breakdown, whether or not I think it’s worth the money that they’re charging and where I think it’s going to develop in the future. Now, originally when the MEO Plus came out back in 2022, you were looking at about £2,200 for a MEO Plus. Without its Pro package, once you got the software included, you were looking at over £3 grand. Now, the Gen 2, it’s coming in right around £1,000, just over at £1,99. Now, that is an early bird pricing. I would be remiss to say these units have arrived today and they are selling out very quickly. So, if you want the early bird pricing, you do need to get in there quickly and it’s going to be running until the end of August. After that, it’s probably going to go up about £50 to £100. Now, what this represents is a much lower entry point to what we would call premium data. Now, Flight Scope’s data has been known for a long time to be super super accurate. So, for just over £1,000, you’re now able to access comparable data to things like Trackman, Foresight, and Unicor. Now, the second thing to talk about are the upgrades to the battery on the MEO Gen 2. Now, MEVO Plus is one of my favorite units. I use it myself, and my biggest gripe was always the battery life. Now, you’re feasibly looking at between an hour and a half and 2 hours of play time on Amibo Plus. Whereas a Gen 2, it’s not adding an hour. It’s not doubling it. It is tripling the battery life of AEO Plus at 6 hours of play time. Now, what does that mean for an average everyday golfer? Not much. You’re not going to be practicing for six hours. But if you’re a coach, that’s three, four, maybe five students all passing through your lessons without the need to charge the battery. Now, if you do need to charge the battery, if you’re a very, very busy coach or an extremely avid golfer, you’re going to be able to charge it with USBC. Insert Angel Noises cuz the Mibo Plus was a micro USB, something that’s a little bit out out of date and old-fashioned. USBC compatibility on the Gen two is a big bonus. You can use your phone charger, MacBook charger, whatever you need to grab. This is going to be able to be charged by that. Now, the third improvement is with your short game. Now, the MEO Plus was very good at chipping and patting and things like that, but if you got to the really delicate stuff, you know, little three-foot putts or flop shots and things like that, it started to struggle. Now, the Gen 2 with its much higher profile is going to be able to see those putts and the really short chip shots much, much better. And from anecdotal experience, having tested it, you can see it on screen now. It’s able to pick up some really, really delicate shots that to be honest, most launch monitors are going to struggle with, even camera units. If you’re able to get that ball to leave the frame quick enough, camera unit’s going to struggle. and the Gen Two had no problem. Now, next up on the chopping block is the data. Is the Gen Two’s data accurate? I can say yes because it’s using Flight Scope’s Fusion tracking technology. Now, Fusion Tracking came out with the MEO Plus and it’s basically where the radar and the camera are both looking at what’s happened and they kind of confirm to each other what they’ve seen, which gives a much higher level of accuracy. Now, in testing in America on some very well-known YouTube channels, we’ve seen numbers as close as half a percent variation from real life when testing wedges and six irons and 2% when you get up to drivers. Now, that is extremely accurate data and we’re going to have to verify that ourselves. So, we’re going to be heading to the driving range very, very soon to test that on our Meo Gen 2. Now, size-wise, the Gen 2 is just as easy to store away in a golf bag as Amibo Plus. All you have to do slide it in the big pocket and you can forget about it. It’s there when you need it. Next up in terms of convenience is subscription fees. With Flight Scope, as always, there are none. That is the best thing for Flight Scope in my opinion. Once you’ve bought it, you’ve got it. Now, you can add on some things like Badger AI. But the core thing that makes a Flight Scope a Flight Scope is included in a lifetime fee, which is fantastic. It means you don’t ever have to worry about renewing or paying a yearly membership. It’s just there. Flight Scope is yours to keep. Now, the final point when we’re talking about convenience is courses. A lot of people worry about annual subscriptions to things like GS Pro or E6 Apex. There’s all sorts of different subscriptions these days. E6 actually provide a eight course package that comes with the Mibo Gen 2 and it is a lifetime subscription to those eight courses. So, if you just want a little bit of a course experience, you can play it for free with E6 on the Mio Gen 2. If you want to go further with courses though, there are loads of options. For example, GS Pro £250 a year and MEO Gen 2 plums in exactly the same as Meo Plus. We can actually show you Mevo Plus working on the GS Pro right here, right now. Right, guys. So, that is our first hands-on top five features with the MEO Gen 2. And I have to say, the early bird pricing does only run during August. And the units that we’ve been shipped are already selling out very, very fast. So, if you do want one at the lower price, then get in quick.

How is the putting? Unreal Golf could not get the putting to work right while his Square works fine: https://www.youtube.com/live/D6jGj3nzhzk?si=AUlV91jXCe323qSo
