let’s go over the things that make it slice Number one would be a poor grip If you rotate your hands over to the left side like this you’re making the club face open to your hands So if I took the the club like this and I turned it to the right and I gripped it and then turned my hands back so the club face was square This is an open face grip Okay the crease between my thumb and forefinger right here is pointing to my left shoulder The crease between this thumb and forefinger is pointing to my left shoulder Everyone starts slicing it because of the poor grip Okay Then the face gets open in the back swing and then they come over the top You’re not going to fix your slice if you fix the over the top first You’re going to slice it the rest of your life You have to fix the grip first and get the club face more close to your hands So that’s the bad grip Let’s talk about a little bit better grip So typically what we do to help people slice or stop slicing the ball you’re going to put your right hand underneath more and your left hand so that the back of the left hand’s facing the sky more We’re going to get these creases between these thumbs and forefingers pointing more to our right side of our body Notice as I do that my right arm is going underneath my left And what’s happening is I’m closing the face to my hands and then gripping it So the club face is closed to my hands So those V’s and creases you can see are pointing more to my right shoulder And now that club face is much more closed to my hands That’s going to help a great deal The other thing you might want to check is it in the palm of your hand like this you’re not going to be able to leverage the club and twist the club if it’s in the palm Make sure it’s in the base of your fingers with the heel pad of the club on top This right here is your heel pad down the pinky right here You can actually see the wear mark And my glove is in the appropriate spot If your glove is warmed the wrong way you probably got a hole right here down the palm That wear pattern should be down here in the base of your fingers So it’s in the base of my fingers The heel pad is on top and those creases are facing my right side of my body the right arm is under the left So let’s go into some other things in the setup So if you fix your grip you got a much better chance The second thing I would do is I would check your setup In that big slice that I hit my shoulders were aiming way left and my right arm was way on top of my left And what that’s doing is I’m setting up my body left of my club face That club face is open to my body or right of my body We don’t want to set up where the club face is open to our body We want to set up where our club face is closed to our body So we’re going to do the opposite We’re going to get a good grip and we’re going to try to get our right side back and our left side forward And we’re going to try to get our right arm under our left You can actually see a little window here between my right arm and my left versus the other one There’s a window the other way We want to see a window in between our left and our right Left uh right arm underneath the left arm Okay The second thing that’s happening is I’m turning my body to the right and tilting a little to the
