San Francisco, Ca. – Augusta University golfer Bo Blanchard II finished play at the United States Amateur Golf Championship with rounds of 72-78 for a final score of 10-over-par. The championship is being held at the Olympic Club Lake and Ocean courses in San Francisco, Ca. The top 64 players after two rounds of stroke play advanced to match play, but Blanchard was not among those golfers.
Blanchard started strong in the opening round on Monday posting a 2-over-par score on the Lake Course. His round consisted of two birdies, a bogey and triple bogey, but was still inside the top 90 at the end of the opening day.
On Tuesday, playing the Ocean Course, he had two bogeys to start the day. He was able to settle things down and made six straight pars before another bogey on his ninth hole of the day. The round got away from him on his final nine holes, but did manage to make a pair of birdies before completing play. There were over 300 golfers playing in this year’s U.S. Amateur.
Blanhard received his invitation to the tournament by winning the Georgia Amateur earlier this summer. That followed a big junior year with the Jaguars where he won the Southland Conference Championship and finished eighth in the NCAA Regionals.
He now returns to Augusta as AU opens the college golf season Sept. 5-7 at the Visit Knoxville Collegiate, hosted by the University of Tennessee.
