In a stunning display of golfing prowess, Dustin Johnson and Sergio Garcia have emerged as the leaders at the Live Golf Tournament near Chicago. Both carding impressive rounds of 67. The leaderboard is a veritable who’s who of golfing royalty with Brooks Kepka, Phil Mickelson, Bryson Dashambo, Tier Hatton, and John Rahm hot on their heels just one stroke behind. This is the kind of leaderboard that live golf organizers must have dreamt of when they launched the circuit four years ago. As the 2025 Liv season draws to a close, the top names that were initially lured to the league are putting on a show at Bowling Brook Golf Club. Dustin Johnson, who recently finished last at the Live Golf UK event, and Sergio Garcia share the top spot after their rounds of 67. The list of golfing greats continues down the leaderboard with Kka, Mikkelson, Dashambo, Hatton, and Rahm all in the mix, just one shot off the lead. For Johnson, who has been struggling recently, this wasn’t a case of making major changes, but rather making small adjustments. I feel like I’m always close and it only takes a couple of shots here or there where my game just clicks back and I start playing good again, he said. Got off to a little bit of a shaky start today, but then started hitting some quality shots and rolled in a couple putts and kind of turned it around and finished off with a nice solid day today. Despite his struggles, Johnson has shown flashes of brilliance, and he’s hoping that this is the start of a resurgence. To be honest, even in the UK, I did not play nearly as bad as my score, he said. I know my score was horrible, but I actually hit a lot of good shots. I felt like every time I hit a good shot, it was a foot off from being really good and ends up in a bad spot. Obviously, those greens and that golf course is pretty tricky. just scored horribly. While Johnson has had his ups and downs, Mikkelson has been a model of consistency and he’s in a great position to post his best LIIV season finish. On Friday, Mickelson was five under heading into the final two holes of the day and was a top the leaderboard. He made a pair of bogeies coming home, but he’s still in a great spot as the weekend approaches. I really want to finish the year off right, he said. I’ve played well this year, played consistent, and have had almost with one or two exceptions, I’ve been in the top 24 each week, so I’ve played consistent. At 55, Mikkelson is proud of his consistency, and he’s hoping to finish the year strong. I think that’s a cool accomplishment, and I would love to finish this year off right, move back up the list, and have two more solid finishes before we go to the team championship. He said that’s more of just a personal goal of mine that I think to play against competition like this Ram and Bryson and Brooks and DJ and Cam Smith and Jooko and these guys and to be able to hang. I think that would mean a lot to me. The leaderboard is a testament to the talent and depth of the Live Golf League and it’s sure to make for an exciting weekend of golf. Will Johnson and Garcia hold on to their lead, or will one of the big names make a move?
