SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – Seton Hall University Director of Athletics Bryan Felt announced on Monday the hiring of Jackie Mullens to become the third women’s golf head coach in the program’s history.  Mullens returns to the Pirates after serving as an assistant coach in South Orange for three years, helping Seton Hall to a runner-up finish at the 2018 BIG EAST Championship.

Mullens rejoins the Pirates after serving the last four years on the staff at the University of Delaware.  She was promoted to Associate Head Coach in November of 2023.  No stranger to New Jersey, Mullens is a native of Mendham, and enjoyed a stellar playing career at Rutgers University before her graduation in 2016.

“We are excited to welcome Jackie back to the Seton Hall family to lead our women’s golf program,” Felt said.  “Jackie’s familiarity with our team and extensive experience as an assistant coach makes her the ideal candidate to lead our program into a new era.  We believe Seton Hall women’s golf is in good hands for years to come.”

At Delaware, Mullens coached both the men’s and women’s programs, helping lead the Delaware women to immense success, including four team tournament titles and five individual medalist honors.  The Blue Hens won their third CAA Championship in 2024, advancing to the NCAA Tournament, and golfer Lilia Henkel became UD’s third individual to claim the conference title.

“It’s extremely exciting to be returning to Seton Hall as the Head Women’s Golf Coach, Mullens said.  “To have already worked for such a prestigious organization and a program with such a history of success, I know that we can continue to be a force within the BIG EAST and compete for championships.  “Thank you to Bryan Felt for trusting me to take over this program.  “I’d like to thank Patty Post, my Director of Golf at The University of Delaware for developing me into the coach and individual I am today… your support and mentorship has been invaluable.  It is amazing to be coming home to NJ and rejoining the Pirate Nation!”

Mullens was a part of one of the more successful periods in Seton Hall women’s golf history from 2018-21.  During that time, the Pirates achieved their highest national ranking in program history, No. 54, and the team won three tournament titles, including coincidentally, the Delaware Lady Blue Hen Invitational in October of 2018.  Her influence helped catapult former Pirates Mia Kness, Carolina Ronchel Salas, Lizzie Win, Sarah Fouratt and Maddie Sager towards the top of the BIG EAST Conference.  They rank third, fourth, fifth, seventh and ninth respectively, all-time at Seton Hall in career scoring average.

Mullens and the Pirates will open the 2025 fall season with three rounds of golf at the Georgia Southern Invitational at Forest Heights Golf Club in Statesboro, Ga., Sept. 8-9.

“I am incredibly proud of Coach Jackie as she takes this exciting next step in her career.  During her time with our program, she brought passion, leadership and a great knowledge of the game that made a lasting impact on our student-athletes.  There’s no doubt she’s ready to lead her own team, and we look forward to watching her succeed in this new chapter.”

Patty Post, University of Delaware Director of Golf Programs

“Jackie has worked tirelessly for this opportunity.  When we worked together at The Hall (2018-2021) her passion for coaching was evident.  She brings an elite knowledge of the game and cares about her student-athletes.  Jackie will continue to thrive for excellence, which will help elevate the program to new heights.  I am extremely proud of Jackie!  It brings me comfort and excitement for the future of the women’s golf program! Go Pirates!”

Natalie Desjardins, former Seton Hall Head Coach

“Congratulations to Jackie and Seton Hall for selecting her has the next Head Coach of the Pirates!  Jackie was a Scarlet Knight when Rutgers transitioned to the Big Ten Conference.  She worked hard on her game and in the strength room to earn a starting position and posted one of her best college events at the 2016 B1G Championships.  Jackie is competitive at everything and always brought a lot of fun and enthusiasm during her time “on the banks”.  It has been great to watch Jackie’s coaching career develop as she sharpened her on course coaching, leadership skills, recruiting and coaching philosophy over the last ten years.  I am excited for Jackie and this opportunity to return home to New Jersey to coach at Seton Hall.  The Pirates have a lot of tradition and I know Jackie will bring a fire to keep them in the hunt for BIG EAST Championships.”

Kari Williams, Rutgers Women’s Golf Head Coach
