The gap between Tiger Woods and everybody else in his sport was so vast and so great that I cannot ignore. They did so much to the course at Augusta to stop Tiger that a course that never had any left-handed champions just started having left-handers winning all over the place. The course had not gotten too easy. The course was as hard as it had ever been. It was this one dude that showed up. That was the metaphor for we got to work twice as hard. A statement that Tiger Woods probably has no idea the origins of. It is unforgettable to me. 1997. He shot a 40 on the front nine in the first round, which is terrible. He shot a 30 on the back nine, which is unreal. And it never stopped from there. It did not stop for 12 years.
