Golfing With A Stranger for $100 A Hole | Walk on Wagers

Sometimes the best matches come out of nowhere. I got paired up with a complete stranger on the first tee, and before we even finished the first hole, we were playing for $100 a hole. He came in as a +4 handicap and definitely had game—but then he made the mistake of giving me seven strokes. That decision turned this casual round into one of the most competitive and entertaining matches I’ve played. Big swings, pressure moments, and a whole lot of pride (and cash) on the line.

Was he good enough to back it up… or did he bite off more than he could chew?

giving me seven strokes for six holes you’re that confident i don’t know about that i’m just feeling a little bit generous today i’ll give out seven so what do you want to play for i’m not stepping off the T- box for less than 100 bucks oh you want to play for 100 bucks 100 bucks six holes six holes excuse me sir what do you do for a living i’m a Marine actually fun fact 100 hole yep are you sure mhm okay let’s get to it you heard it here i could totally be sandbagging you right now and you’re just like pulled up in sweats a hoodie ankles out ankles out they got to be out it’s Ramadan isn’t it ramadan actually it’s actually Oh really okay okay I’m going to wait for him to clear cuz on a good day I can get it there especially in the wind 2 hours later so we’ve waited now 10 minutes for the green to clear you’re in sweats and a hoodie you’re willing to play me for 100 a hole mhm so if you don’t hit this green you’re toast off the road all right do you want to do a side bet uh yeah 20 bucks says that I am on the green or at least 30 yards off of it i mean 30 yards off of it 30 yards off is pretty generous okay 20 yeah 15.5 okay 15.5 okay 15.5 you know that was pretty terrifying that’s short i think that’s 15.5 though wow that’s definitely 15.5 when I saw that start line I was like there’s no way strategically I would never pull driver but now I feel like intimidated into pulling driver so that’s what we’re doing here oh good ball that’s going to get a good kick too yeah good shot sit sit chip off i don’t know what I got myself into today this is a bold this is a very bold choice what do you think 15.5 yards or so yeah i I think you got the side bet that’s too much sauce right there all right nice shot i don’t like this position i’m a little short-sighted i have to put it into the rough and just kind of like leak it that’s so good that was such a bad bounce out of the rough that’s pretty good though targeted to do yeah you’re downhill yeah does that make you a little nervous a little bit [Music] yikes 8 years it’s not a long time to be a plus no I uh I picked it up pretty quick luckily did you play baseball no I was a soccer player a football player basketball pretty well-rounded athlete oh yeah good par in for par and that means you’re down down one already that’s not good down 100 not one you’re down 100 actually 80 cuz you won a side yeah do you feel like your odds going into this there’s a lot of golf left a lot of golf left not really but sort of i hope you have deep pockets wow that’s an incredible apex kick right nice shot thank you that’s what I need right there yeah that’s that is what you needed it’s all right that’s basically your T-shot up there yeah that’s so bad seven strokes i have made a mistake i have a 3-wood this club is not very good for me usually this rough is hard i’m going to hit down on it and I can’t top another one that was so thick whatever i have to get up and down now that’s all we’re doing you might as well take out your putter right no like a little touch shot here with a wedge can’t go still yeah uh 58 okay i got uh 85 wind playing a little down downhill lie going to play a little left spin right that was a good strike oh that’s so lucky bucker isn’t a bad spot to be in though i’m sure you’d like that come back no good shot that is atrocious i just wanted you to give me the line yeah that exactly what you’re trying to do so you’re putting for par yes which is basically birdie mhm oh boy this is uh not good in or out um out would be great actually thank you this spot’s straighter than it looks i think if it goes past a hole it goes right but it Oh you like that oh my gosh oh great par birdie sorry I had to whip that out on you so this is like a must make oh I saw you did it i thought you made that thank you great putt thanks feeling confident still with your bet i am i like to hear about comeback stories i uh would love to be a part of one right now so we’re going to we’re going to make some ground right now stay tuned i haven’t even hit yet dude laughing at me already so the wind’s coming off the right here and down a little bit so I’m probably going to aim towards the middle of that left greenside bunker and just let the wing kind of peel it over to the pin the miss here for me is is left because the more right you go uh with driver in hand the more it kind of brings that creek into play and the car path and all that stuff so okay i was just seeing if obviously you knew there’s a creek there but I’m seeing what your play was yeah I don’t usually I mean even when I play back there I don’t hit driver but I’m two down so I I got some ground to cover i’m glad I put some pressure on you cuz I felt pressure on the first hole was full driver like I would have never pulled driver on the first hole but I felt like I was a little like You had a good drive too it was pin high i mean I got away with it it was a low burner i hurt my back so I’ve been like kind of playing a little bit of a weird shot oh really yeah like I’ I’m like kind of getting through it really funny so so I really need to beat you you’re hurt yeah I’m two up like I wouldn’t play like the forward box if I wasn’t hurt it’s like Tiger Woods 08 to What are we doing i don’t know just taking a little four iron nothing crazy that was really bad that’s going to be perfect though which sucks i hit a chunk i’m dead car says 98 yards i’m going to take my 100 club little 52 have someone in my back nothing crazy here how’s the weather back there shut up be good yeah good shot that That was as good as That was nice all right see what Joe Schmo’s got all right he’s got some soft hands thank you i don’t know if that’s a compliment or feel great to not have a must make putt every hole like me you’re the one who told me you’d give me seven for six i won’t even taking a sh of hole makes me play better oh that was so baby plenty of meat on that bone yeah that wasn’t my best how many different stops have you qualified for now what were you saying i’ve only qualified for one Monday qualifier on tour um but I haven’t played in any yet cuz the Marine Corps is pretty restricting on what you can and can’t do but we’re getting down to November so I thought you ended me right there that’s good this is a must for me not really but let’s pretend like it is so I can hurry up i’m going to put it the left side no blood you’re really happy for a push i’m happy for a push happy for a push that is a small victory that is very telling that is all I need right now that’s a momentum swinger well we have a par three that I pop on so I don’t know how much momentum you’re going to get right there well I’ve jarred it for an ace on this hole so I think we might be all right all right back pin he’s not worried wear a skirt and play from where you’re playing i mean this sucks this is trash 185 change the way you play you said what the skirt’s not going to change the way you play we got 186 playing 194 which the wind is probably playing I don’t know maybe a club or so so I’m going to try and play it at like 200 203 oh that’s not what I need to see that’s so short i think I shot this earlier at 124 i’m going to play it smooth nine i know there’s some wind [Music] it’s definitely there yeah good shot all right we’re up there two putt wins it this is like one of the harder chips on the course but I think I have to it’s up the hill two slopes the pin is I don’t know two paces off the back slope wow that was really good thank you this putt is really really fast for you so it’s turtle speed got it no taken oh god want to see that i do want to see it i respect that i’ll mark and wait okay actually no i’ll just go [Music] sorry fever gets bad out here [Music] down 300 oh god through four you still confident you do installment plans with like no interest i take after pay okay yeah I do that’s fine we’re not out of it yet but you know I got to start planning financially no I should have thought about like the tea difference before I gave out my strokes but Oh so now you’re making excuses okay here we go he’s 610 and he’s over here upset that I’m playing a little further than him he’s 6’10” 20 years old probably on testosterone and just upset wow all right i need a big drive here i think it went past the bunker yeah oh is that even Okay left side it rolls everything rolls right what’s your favorite course you’ve played there’s a course in Eststerero Florida called Old Corkcrew uh Jack Nicholas Design that’s a really really good track it’s really hard uh Bear Creek up in Marietta really good track another Jack Nicholas course um and of course Tori love Tori yeah good ball thanks good a ball my back is loose and limber am I getting my ass beat on my home club i sure am i don’t even know if I should hit 3-wood here just know that if I would have hit 3-wood I would have got on i invite you to go for it i think that you’re strong enough to go for it why not i don’t know if I have the height to get it over there listen you have a really good apex just Just trust it i’m not going to let you influence my shot i take pride in being a strong mental player i thought you were going to say independent man woman that’s true nice shot thank you good play you know I want to give him a chance so I’m just going to take the wood you know I’m already up on him and it’s I don’t want to embarrass you too bad at your home track look how pretty that water on the right is it’s gorgeous f that’s not even good okay that’s in the bunker oh what the bro you want to walk that one huh this is the walk of shame right now uh and that’s for albatross every shot that I stand over is a must make i don’t want to say it’s the best feeling but it’s good it’s good uh good pressure practice um 84 yards into the wind i’m going to do a little knock down 54 hopefully it goes in that’s the only living chance that I have go ball go all right you got to put on the fringe it’s a little janky because I hold out so on the right there’s a little slot what’s going on here i see i actually see the slot too yeah I tried to fix it but I messed up this hole well I think this is going to help me out it’s going a little right to left up the hill you’re sensing the theme here everything’s a must make so uh let’s hope this one goes in can know at least I tied one hole i will take that i thought you got the right home i mean I didn’t negotiate stripes with you at all like if anything I took less you were going to give me seven for six which like didn’t even make sense like yeah if you were a terrible car salesman I would have bought the car he was buying the car no matter what this is probably the whole I play the worst on this course oh another excuse no this is a a fact i don’t know why but there’s like a magnet for me in those houses over there so you’re going to aim this way and play a big hook like that wow that was nuked it bounced you’re fine are you not i just wanted to go over the aggressive line over there cuz you what wanted a 60 in hand instead of a pitching wedge like No I’m going to have a 50 do you usually play people for money at this course oh yeah so do you show up like this to like disarm them yeah the ankles are usually out yeah the ankles being out is a little like last hole got to beat Mr ankles here going to take this over the bunker on the left hand side this is a dog leg left correct it’s a dog leg right correct mhm the answer’s going to be yes whatever I say right now god damn stopped now it’s swirling i’m going to hit a seven and just hope it gets close and that’s not close 27 left i’m taking a nir iron looks like it’s a little right to left wind get in the bunker no god that’s still bad i’m chipping good miss not good this section of the course has like US Open rough but hey we’re here um US Open weeds yeah I’d say about 30 yards i’m going to try to get a little little loft under this one [Music] where’s that loft you’re talking about no that’s the thing i think it had a lot of loft what’s even better now is this lie is like that might be a better lie honestly it’s too fluffy okay take two i hate to see that i’m starting to uh play like the little engine that could but couldn’t sit all right i’m so glad that didn’t go in i There was a chance that I would have felt bad if that went in honestly like I do have like a soul i didn’t bring my putter not out of uh confidence just cuz really doesn’t matter at this point it was out of confidence it was out of confidence that’s why he doesn’t bring his putter which way is this going is this right to left it’s on like a spine this is real advice i’m not trying to Yeah it’s on like a spine so okay i’ll read the putt that kills me i go straight at it that’s what I was thinking yeah this is for a final win no sure all right well it was a pleasure i got you four holes mhm and technically a professional
