How to EASILY Sharpen YOUR Wedge Grooves for EXTREME Spin #golf #golfshorts #golfwedges

This is how I sharpened my new wedge grooves to add some extra spin

It’s worth noting that doing this can cause your wedge to become illegal for tournament play if you make the grooves to wide or deep
.
To sharpen your grooves (which works better with old worn out grooves) you just need a few bits; including of course a groove sharpener, wd40 or something similar and some tape to protect the face
.
I started by removing the head as I was reshafting it anyway but I do find it easier with a loose head
.
It’s then I find a good idea to cover the edge of the face with electrical tape or something similar as you probably saw in the video it protects the face and prevents any scratches from going over the end part
.
I then sprayed wd40 as it just slackens the metal and makes it easier to remove metal when it’s soaked in it
.
Then using a groove sharpener (this multi one I find works a lot better than the single prong ones that you can find) I just started by making some light strokes moving towards myself to begin with.. once it started becoming easier I then started to apply more pressure and then started to move it back and forth as well
.
You should be able to see the metal being removed if you are doing correctly but you can also tell when turning it on the side as the grooves that have been sharpened will appear much more shiny
.
The best tip I can give for this if you haven’t done it before is to just take your time with it and don’t rush any of the process and this can turn your old wedges into something like new again
