US President Donald Trump has actively attempted in recent weeks to prove he’s a good golfer with a series of social media posts, both from his account on Truth Social and the White House’s official account on X.
On Friday, Trump simultaneously praised his patriotism and his golf game, suggesting claiming another win – although the exact number of wins has come under new scrutiny – was not his priority.
“Winning the Senior Club Championship and the Super Senior Club Championship last weekend at Bedminster — But my heart wasn’t into it. My heart is only for the U.S.A,” the American President wrote.
Trump attracted cheating claims both from his games at his Bedminster Golf Club — where he allegedly captured the 2025 Men’s Senior Club Championship — and at his Scottish one, where he was greeted by a sea of protestors. It comes after Joe Rogan recently doubled down on his Donald Trump assassination conspiracy theory.
The American President has claimed he’s already won five golf trophies this year. While that number feels gaudy, the 79-year-old has spent roughly 20 percent of his second term at the links.
In Scotland, a viral video emerged of a caddie dropping a ball near the fairway after Trump’s drive clearly landed in the bunker. A similar video surfaced from Bedminster of a caddie dropping a ball haphazardly onto the green before a Trump putt.
In an interview with the Daily Beast, longtime PGA coach Craig Normansell praised elements of Trump’s golf game while admitting the President’s claim of having won so many club championships is far-fetched.
“He can clearly step up to a ball and strike it, but when it comes to the short game, he looks like he’s going to be found out sooner or later,” Normansell said. “It certainly doesn’t look like the level of someone who’s won 18 club championships.”
