Event 12 of 13 in the Live Golf League season and we are underway. This is the first team, the two favorites for the league title. It could go to the wire in Indianapolis next weekend, but Waco knows that he can seal the deal right here in Chicago this weekend. Pretty stiff breeze straight into them here at the first. It’s a long par four, but that’s a beautiful T- shot. And even into the wind, he gets 25, 30 yards a run out of it. Whilst that was happening, Dustin Johnson played his second at 18. DJ at 18 for birdie. Here’s Sergio. His second shot into 18. Beautiful. Back to one and WCO. He’s actually left himself a great spot. Chipping into a slope into the wind as well. See him fighting this down. Lenn about halfway. Let it skip a couple times. Just trickle the hole. Neman for his par. Lucas Herbert on the tea at 17. Lucas in ninth place overall. He had a tied second finish in Mexico City but has finished outside of the points in the last four events. We take you to the T four and Patrick Reed who is two under par already today. Fabulous shot. 234 yds over at 16. This is Charles Schwarzel for Birdie up the hill. Just collapses in the left edge. Beautiful. Euben Jang from Korea is in the relegation zone. He needs a couple of very good weeks to take his live golf career beyond this his only season so far. That was his second shot at the par for eighth. Of course, he made birdie there, but he then bogided the ninth, so he’s level par. Sam Horsefield for birdie at seven. He would make this. And then sadly for Sam Bogid, the eighth. He’s the highest place. Majestic in 37th in the standings. The other three, Stenson, Westwood, and Pa in real danger of being relegated. Schwarzel at 17. just seemingly solid week after week down the home stretch of the season. [Applause] This was Sergio and his second shot at the second hole. [Applause] He makes birdie [Music] This is Mark Leechman from the left edge. Well, that’s the way to clean up after a dodgy short iron. Martin Kimmer has joined three others on two under power in the early going after this birdie at eight. Lucas Herbert second shot at the first. He’s chopping that out with a hybrid or something. What a great shot from a difficult line. The rough right at the flag. A huge couple of events for Cameron Tringali who in the standings is 25th. He’s two under par. Started very well to tie the second place. Lucas Herbert has tied for the individual lead. This was for birdie at two for the Australian to birdies at 17 at 18 and then at the second for Lucas who is three under path. Back to the fifth fairway and John Rahm’s second shot. You do need to land this about 10 ft short. You want to be below this hole. He’s gone up with that. Looks like he’s going to land in the right spot. Yep. Very simple putt from there. I haven’t seen many people do that thus far in the early going here. be able to stop that short of the hole landing on the green. Bubba for Bardy at five. A hard thing to do when you’re putting downhill, but then you got to add for the wind to actually hit it. It’s hard to get yourself to actually hit it harder downhill. Looks like he got it there. Oh, [Applause] second shot at five here for Sergio Garcia, captain of the Fireballs, who’ve had a solid start, one behind Cam Smith’s Ripper GC in the team competition. Here’s Phil at eight. He’s got a little draw stance. Ball slightly above his feet. That’s a good looking shot. Tell that’s pretty good on this hole today. Yeah, that’s very nice. Good distance control with that second shot. This one going to fall a little to the right. Oh, good positive stroke there. [Applause] Dustin Johnson is captain of the four aces and this got him back to level par. It was a birdie in the party hole. The par 36. [Music] [Applause] So J Lee is running hot here in Chicago in the furnace of Bowling Brook Golf Club. Well, he’s a wild card. He’s in that first relegation spot as it stands. If he were to climb out to 48th or above, he would at least have a chance of being picked up as a free agent for next season or he will be one and done in the Live Golf League. That’s for Birdie at 14, his third in a row. And JPo Lee is three under par and in a tie for the individual lead with Australian Lucas Herbert. And that is beautifully done. John Ram gets to one under par. He needs to turn the screw on Marco Neman who he’s playing with today to put some pressure on the Chilean to take it to a showdown in Indianapolis next weekend. And the ninth hole pattern with his second. [Music] He’s just a couple back and a good chance there. Well, look who’s at the top of the leaderboard. Sergio Garcia at seven and he’s three under. Some excellent recent form for Taylor Gu has lifted him to fourth place in the standings. This was for birdie at seven and that got Taylor back to level parl as for birdie opportunity to get him to two under par off the golf course. He’s dry. He’s funny. I mean he’s overjoyed right now. Well, this is the Brooks Kepker that we recognize. A worldass talent and he’s running hot here in Chicago. That was for Birdie at 10. He teed off early earlier on at the par five third with a birdie. This was for Birdie at 11. And just a few moments ago at 12, this was his second shot that set up an eagle opportunity. Eventually made a third straight birdie to Brooks. Keeper has the individual lead here at Bowling Brook Golf Club just outside of Chicago. He is four under par through his opening 10 holes and a lead of one over Herbert and Sergio. As DJ at eight knocks that one in for Birdie. [Applause] This was Turill Hatton for Birdie at 10. It would be his third in the last four holes. And Cheryl is three under par one back of Brooks Keepka to the ninth then and John Ram for birdie. Got to get something going here in the next nine holes. But there opportunity is knocking for John Ram. Can he take advantage? We have nine holes to play on day one of Live Golf Chicago. Dean Burmister is very excited that the lift golf league is headed to South Africa. It will be headed to just outside of Johannesburg next March. And Dean has this for eagle at 12. He jumps into a tie for third. Brooks is third at 14 and he’s got plenty of green to work with. Li’s not bad. He gave it plenty of air. Oh, it should release a little more. Yeah, that’s a beautifully judged. Great touch. Marco Neman’s early troubles here in Chicago have presented an opportunity to the Spaniard who will be deeply frustrated if he can’t take advantage of it and close that gap heading into Indianapolis. But that’s beautifully done and he stays one under. Mito Pereira is having a day. He’s gone 12 rounds without carding an underpar score. It was round three in career. He’s deep in relegation trouble. But that birdie at six has got him to three under par. And if he can hold this form, he will save himself from relegation. And Sergio Garcia’s second shot at 11. Got to come across that bunker. Oh, and he’s played it beautifully. Magnificent shot. And now here he is live to convert that into a birdie. Burmester at 15. Oh, very nice. Thank you. Thank you. Lovely. Huge T-shot. Takes advantage of it. Well, let’s not forget that Phil Mickelson turned 55 years of age in June and he continues to roll back the years. That was a 30 put at the par 512 to get to two under par. This was his second shot at the par 313th. So he was three under par and then not long afterwards a third at the par five 14th which led to another birdie three in a row he’s four under and he leads by a shot and his team the high flyers lead by two and he’s got a chance here for a fourth consecutive birdie. This is at 15. Wow. He leads the field by three shots on the opening day in Chicago. This should be 5 ft max right here. A little more than that. Right in Patrick Reed’s wheelhouse. Oh, just gets to the front door and topples in drunk. This is the 12th hole and Sergio’s third shot. And he’ll have a tap in and he’ll be at four under. Caleb Surat came third in the UK last time out. His best live golf league finish that for birdie at six. The party hole. He then birded seven to get back to two over par. [Laughter] Boy, the veterans are excelling here in Chicago. Sergio Garcia level with Phil on five under par and his fireballs hit the front. Brooks Keeper here on 18 walked all the way up to the green, stood two yards short of the green and turned around and got Ricky Elliot to laser the distance. So his plan is to land this short of the green even though he’s playing from the middle of the fairway. Shows you how firm these greens have gotten, especially downwind. I mean, you got to be on the fairway downwind. Oh, it needs to it needs to go. Oh, it got a big bounce forwards off the back of the bunker. He landed a bit shorter than he wanted to. Yeah, he got away with one there. John Ram at 15 trying to hoist that one way up in the air and land it softly. That’s a fantastic shot from there. So, this was Dustin Johnson’s third shot at 14, the par five, which would lead to birdie Woo! Yeah, Bryson with a really open look here. Can he judge the bounce? Yes. Beautifully done. Bryson to end with a birdie. Bryson Desambo with an opening round of 683 underpar. and he is well in the mix here. Well, Waco needs to start clawing back some shots and climbing the pylon. This is for Birdie. Nicely done. So, Waco ends the day on three over. It’s a first round of 74 and the gap between himself and second place John Ram in the individual title race is six shots going into round two. What an opening round we’ve had here in Chicago at Bowling Brook Golf Club. [Music] [Music]
