Local golf professionals are warning businesses to be cautious of a scam involving fake charity golf tournaments.

A woman identifying herself as “Nayda” with Digital Fairways App has been contacting businesses, claiming to be organizing tournaments at courses such as Los Alamos Golf Course, Towa, Black Mesa, Santa Fe Country Club, and others, and seeking donations.

The most recent phone number used is (480) 576-6076, though it may vary.

The scammer is reportedly very convincing, often using real names of golf pros and course staff, along with fake tournament details to appear legitimate. This scam was first flagged by staff at Red Hawk Golf Club in Las Cruces and has been reported statewide through the Sun Country PGA Section.

What to know:

“Nayda” may claim to be hosting a charity golf event and ask for donations or sponsorships;

She may reference real local golf courses and staff to appear credible; and

This is a confirmed scam. Please do not share personal or business information.
