well for much more on the rocket mortgage classic let’s bring Mark sko and Bob weeks in the conversation now as promised Mark starting with you you covered the rocket mortgage for PGA Tour radio what impressed you the most about Cam Davis what impressed me is you he didn’t really get a bounce guys or a break uh on that Sunday it was he got you know hit a perfect three-wood into 14 hit the front of the green it pulls off the front of the green somehow and finds the Rocks I mean he striped that three-wood ends up having to deal with a penalty stroke there hits another perfect Fairway metal into 177 the wind swats it one foot from clearing the bunker he would had a makeable eagle putt instead he’s you know having to get a Brut brutal up and down and then the flip side of that coin is you know it looked like oay was was playing with horseshoes you know he hit this you know flared cut 280 yard 3-wood that manages to stay out of the pond Aaron Ry hit a driver off the deck that one hoop and skipped over the edge of the pond on that par 514th it looked like all the breaks were going to other players but somehow uh it felt cam Davis’s way it really reminded me guys of 2020 I was in uh August of 2020 at the Northern Trust at TPC Boston I followed Cam Davis for two days it was really my first time with Cam Davis I called his first 36 holes he went 646 5 it was so impressive I’m like how is this kid not one more I can’t believe it has taken this long to validate that first Victory Adam it just goes to show you how hard it is to win on the PGA tour yeah it certainly does and now Davis moves to ninth on the international president Cup team standing so Bob how much of an impact do you think Davis could have on Weir’s Squad if he does make the team uh coming up in September yeah right now as you say he’s a pick and you have to be if you’re Mike Weir you have to sit back there and look at the total body of evidence obviously this is a great performance he by the way he’s using a hypnotist he said that’s been one of the keys to his success he wasn’t sure how quickly it was he only started a couple of weeks ago but the hypnotist has been putting him in a better mental state when he goes on to the uh golf course but you look at cam you you look at Cam Davis you sit there and say okay he just won but also he has since the Masters he had not finished inside the top 38 do I risk a pick on them or I want to see more I mean they’re still they’re still left obviously for before Mike’s going to make a pick but it’s good to see at least some of these players starting to play a little better um you know it’s it’s a real Rat Race now all the Canadians have fallen out of that top spot top six so it’s going to be very interesting to see what happens as we get down in these last few weeks in the eligible uh tournaments that will decide who are the who are the automatic picks and then Mike we’s got to go to work and we’ll have much more on the Canadians in our next segment but how about OA batia in the mix for two straight weeks on the PGA tour but heartbreak on the 72nd hole Bob what do you think OA batia takes away from this experience I I liked what he did after he lost and obviously this is crushing as a young player going for another win um you know he went and signed some autographs he said his excuse was hey I missed the putt I’m I’m only human it sucks but I’m I’m a human and I I love the fact that he was able to accept the fact that he missed the putt uh you know it wasn’t a wasn’t a Terri put he didn’t uh miss it by a lot it’s just that this is when you get into those situations those are the ones that you have to kind of close on but for AE I think the fact that he accepted it makes it a little easier to move on to the next week and how about Cameron young mark this guy lost two strokes alone just on the greens during Sunday’s final round still looking for that first PGA Tour Victory what does he take from what happened over the weekend nothing positive guys I mean I want you to watch uh Cameron young the next time he plays on Sunday and look at the difference in his energy when he arrives at the first T versus what you see from Cameron young the rest of the week he looks like a guy with so much Scar Tissue right now with all those second place finishes many of them in huge events these are not building blocks anymore this is not experience anymore uh for Cameron young this is scar tissue you mentioned minus two strokes gain putting on the Sunday Adam what about only five Fairways this is supposed to be a dominant driver of the golf ball he had five Fairways many of those were three Woods off the te two a Miss with the driver I mean if you can’t drive it and you can’t putt it you’re not going to win and I think it really starts with his attitude I I feel like he’s almost Adam waiting for bad things to happen now and that is a hard place to start a final round from yeah he certainly seemed very frustrated too
