Four Canadians have advanced to the playoffs. Here’s where they sit in the FedEx Cup standings. Cory Connors leads the way at 13. Nick Taylor is at 18. Both have very likely already punched their ticket to the Tour Championship, followed by Taylor Pend, and McKenzie Hughes. Unfortunately, Adam Hadwin, Adam Spenson, and Ben Silverman didn’t advance to the playoffs. Now, Bob, it’s been a very consistent season for Connors. Do you think his game is trending in the right direction at the right time with the playoffs here? I think Cory Connors has had a bit of a sneaky year, sneaky good year in a good way. Uh 13th in the FedEx Cup standings coming into this week in the first round of the playoffs. That’s pretty sensational golf and really consistent golf. He’s only had the one missed cut this year that coming at the Century. That’s one more than he missed all of last year. By the way, if you wanted to quibble with his uh his game so far this year, he doesn’t have as good a mark in greens in regulation. He’s 56th. He was third in that same stat last year. Uh but most of that happened at the start of the year. He’s really kind of ironed that out as he’s gone along. Again, his putting has improved year-over-year. His short game is still a little bit shy there, but he worked so hard on those. And I think the only thing really missing from Cory right now is a win. Another win. He needs he needs to get some more wins on the board. He’s too good a player only to have two victories. Uh consistent great ball striker. When the putter is hot, he can beat anybody. So maybe it’ll come in the playoffs if he can get a win here in Memphis. Or maybe he’ll have to wait until next season. But he’s due for some more wins and I think once he gets one more, it’ll start to come a little bit more frequently. He’s just too good a player only to have those two victories. Yeah, Cory Connor has been very consistent throughout the year. And Mark, how about Nick Taylor? He’s got the win. three top 10s, 12th instrokes gain approach. What are your expectations for Nick Taylor during the playoffs? I think they’re high. I think he’s looked good lately. Um I know Cory’s been captain consistency and slightly ahead of him in the FedEx Cup because of that consistency, but I also feel that Taylor’s got that house money. He’s got the win and these guys want to win. Cory wants to win. And I think Nick already with the wind under his belt kind of opens him up and frees him up to to say, “Hey, this season’s already a success for me. You know, I’m inside the top 20 heading into the FedEx Cup. Uh I’ve got a W. Uh I think Nick Taylor is my guy to maybe get it done again in the playoffs.” So of the four Canadians remaining, Cory Connors, Nick Taylor, Taylor Pend, Mackenzie Hughes, who do you think has the best playoff run? I’m gonna go with Nick, but I do and this is no shot at Corey and Taylor because it’s nice to have four guys in the playoffs, but um I do I’m gonna go with Nick, but I can put a little asterisk on this in the sense that I do think McKenzie Hughes has something to say before this season’s out. Does it come in the playoffs? Not too sure. We’ll see how much he plays in the fall. Well, that’ll be determined whether he has a good Memphis and secures a spot at the BMW Championship. If he does that, we might not see McKenzie too often in the fall, but I still think that Mackenzie Hughes wants to win this year, and I think he has something that he wants to show us. He needs a big move this week. He is 59th in the FedEx Cup standing.
