Cameron Young tees off during the final round of the Wyndham Championship
Driver & Woods: Titleist GT2
There’s a fairly even split between the players on tour gaming Titleist’s GT2 and GT3 woods respectively, and Young fits in the former camp, seemingly preferring the GT2’s slightly more forgiving nature and ease of launch. Titleist’s most player-friendly all-round driver model, the GT2 allows better players workability off the tee while maintaining a level of forgiveness on off-centre hits that has it in the good books of players like Justin Thomas, Aldrich Potgieter, and Justin Rose.
The American games both his driver and 3-wood with Mitsubishi’s Tensei 1K Orange shaft: a counterbalanced model with low-launch, low-spin characteristics for exceptionally tight dispersion.
Irons: Titleist T-Series, Titleist 631.CY Prototype
Young games an eclectic mix of Titleist irons both new and old, starting interestingly with a 3-iron from Titleist’s latest game-improvement model, the T350. Working down from here, uses a four-iron from the more player oriented T200 model, and a T100 5-iron. The rest of his set is made up of a one-off prototype iron model known as the 631.CY: developed specifically for Young back in 2023.
Lights out.
With surgical precision over 72 holes, Cameron Young earns his first PGA TOUR title at the @WyndhamChamp by six!

The 631.CY has a number of fascinating bespoke features introduced to fit Young’s exact needs. The sole is pre-worn to improve turf interaction and prevent digging in, while the set overall combines a blade-like look and feel with a slightly larger sole profile to complement Young’s high swing speed and excessive shaft lean.
Wedges: Titleist Vokey Design
Young games a total of four different Vokey wedges, starting with three from the most recent SM10 range. Lofted at 48, 52 and 57-degree profiles, the American has opted to gear all of with the brand’s F-grind: an all-purpose build designed to facilitate fuller, crisper wedge shots.
Like plenty of other tour players, Young\s 60-degree lob wedge comes from the Vokey Design range’s WedgeWorks line, custom-designed in Bob Vokey’s workshop to fit Young’s exact swing and aesthetic preferences. Interestingly, Young has his custom set with a whopping 62 degrees of loft.

Putter: Scotty Cameron Phantom 9.5 Tour Prototype
Like the vast majority Titleist tour players, Young has understandably invoked one of the biggest privileges available to the company’s contracted players: full access to the Scotty Cameron putter range.
Favouring a mallet-style putter, Young uses the Phantom 9.5 shape in a Tour Prototype finish. A slightly smaller-profile mallet, the Phantom 9.5 is balanced to aid players who prefer a little more of what Scotty Cameron calls ‘toe flow’, meaning the toe of the club follows the proper arching path throughout the stroke.
Golf ball: Titleist Pro V1 Left Dot
Young was among the early adopters of Titleist’s Pro V1 left dot: a previously tour-only model that released in 2021 and has since only been made available sporadically and in extremely limited quantities.
The reasons for this are multiple, but mostly revolve around the fact that this is a ball truly engineered to the needs of the modern tour pro, requiring clubhead speeds that most everyday players simply couldn’t generate. It also launches and spins significantly lower than its contemporaries in the Pro V1 range, meaning it’s simply not suited to enough amateur golfers to warrant Titleist giving it a full release.
Players wanting to try the Left Dot all the same can sometimes access allocations by getting in touch with a Titleist rep or by keeping tabs on the Titleist website. Alternatively, you can try out the Pro V1x left dash, which is slightly firmer, but has similar launch and spin characteristics.
