Guys…
They’re charging $12.99 for golf in Phoenix.
It may not be everyone’s thing to play a dirt track but for a lot of people they’re happy just whacking a ball around and truly don’t care about conditions.
My maintenance budget alone is $1.2M
Divided by 30,000 rounds that’s $40 per golfer that goes to my maintenance alone. That’s not covering taxes, wages for pro shop staff, salaries for management etc.
Our green fees are $87 for round and cart.
Our conditions are much better than what is pictured but it takes a LOT of inputs. For example about $5 from every round goes to my fungicide budget. Another $4 goes to my fertilizer and wetting agent budget…
You want decent conditions, you pay more money. You want super cheap golf you might play on greens that get wiped out by disease or drought because they don’t have money for fungicides, wetting agents or (in arizona) adequate irrigation.
This is like someone who owns a Mercedes saying they can’t imagine driving to work in a 1997 honda.
Maybe the 1997 Honda is all you can afford, or maybe you just don’t care to spend your money on cars. Either way you get to work in your Honda. The Mercedes is just fancier.
I say this as a superintendent. My life is growing healthy grass that produces excellent playing conditions for discerning golfers. But there is absolutely a market for cheap golf that just lets people swing a club and play the game.

That’s why mods are so stupid they work at shitty places like this course

I wouldn’t even play this course if they paid me $12
Good ole Stripe Show, that course builds character.
$10 at Isle Dauphine in Alabama. They were recovering from a hurricane. Automatic 2-putt on every hole.

Is the green in the room with us?
That’s not a green, that’s a brown
Is the green in the photo somewhere?
Why would they plant a flag in the parking lot?
Hidden Hills?
I’ve seen dirt parking lots in much better condition than this
NGL if they just convert it to sand greens it’ll be such a treat to play.
Ah yes, Stripe Show.
Looks more like a sand. 😑
Yikes
It reminds me of my childhood in Eastern Europe😬
STRIPE SHOW REPRESENT
Fr tho I wonder what it would take to get that place in better condition (i know more money) but yeah
You’ve obviously never played at Van Nuys “Country Club”.
“Would you like a side of green with your dirt, sir?”
Where is it?
Over by the cup it’s not too bad looking.
There are elements of a green
You get what you pay for
Did you get any browns in regulation?
Better call ClubProGuy. It looks like Miggy has been moonlighting again!
Shouldn’t a green be… I don’t know… green?
$12 is still too expensive 😅
Stripe show!!! Amazing place to play if you love ruining your experience
Those are browns
Just a big sand trap
I stayed at that hotel in the background and remember this sad course right next to it
I would say right to left. Maybe a foot…maybe two? Still want to hit it though, don’t leave it short.
But you have “seen” it. 😎
Los Santos?
The Links at Victoria???
That ain’t a green. That’s a brown.
I hope you didn’t pay to play on that
At first glance, I thought it was the parking lot.
