PGA Tour playoffs. Who’s in and who’s out after Windham Championship. As we approach the Windham Championship, we find ourselves at the concluding week of the PGA Tours regular season. This event held at the picturesque Sedgefield Country Club in Greensbor, North Carolina, is not just another tournament. It’s a pivotal moment for many players as they v for a coveted spot in the FedEx Cup playoffs. The stakes are high and while some players have already secured their positions, others are still in a race against time. Currently, every golfer ranked from number one Scotty Sheffller down to number 57 Stefan Jagger is mathematically assured of finishing within the top 70 in points by the end of Sunday. However, those ranked lower than this threshold still have significant challenges ahead with varying degrees of difficulty. Take Aaron Ry for instance, who sits at number 58 in the standings. Although he is likely to advance to the playoff opener, the FedEx St. Jude Championship, he faces a rare and unlikely scenario that could potentially keep him out. To secure his spot independently, Rye needs to finish at least in solo 50th place. Interestingly, M Hughes, ranked number 59, is the only player among those ranked 58 to 96 who will not be participating in the Windham Championship. Meanwhile, number 97 Billy Horchel is still on the mend from hip surgery. And number 110 a Tosti is another notable player who is not competing this week and has yet to qualify for the postseason. Currently, Matt Schmeed holds the precarious position of being the bubble player at number 70 with just a few points separating him from Nikolai Hoygard who is ranked number 71. Schmeed is trailing Ben Anne who is at number 69 with 595.434 points. But there is a noticeable gap between Anne and Patrick Rogers who is ranked number 68 with 615.592 points. Here’s a quick overview of the players ranked from 60 to 70. 60 Tony Fenow 61 Ricky Fowler 62 Davis Riley 63 Kevin U 64 Eric Vanroyan 65 Nico Echavaria 66 Emiliano Grill 67 Cam Davis 68 Patrick Rogers 69 Ben Anne 70 Matty Schmid both phenile and Fowler have the opportunity to secure their playoff spots without needing assistance from other players, provided they finish in solo 23rd and 12th places, respectively. For those players outside the top 70, the path to qualification is more complex, and they must achieve specific finishes to have a chance at making the playoffs. Here’s a breakdown of the minimum finishes required for some of these players. 71, Nikolai Hoyard, two-way T63, 4.221 points. 72 Keith Mitchell 2-way T-58 5.295 points 73 Chris Kirk 43rd 12.547 points 74 Christian Bezen Hoot 36th 19504 points 75 Gary Woodland 27th 32.471 points 76 Kevin Roy 23rd 38.852 852 points 77 Alex Smallley 22nd 40.789 points 78 Davis Thompson 21st 42.979 points 79 Eric Cole 18th 48.354 points 80 William Mau 11th 67.912 points 81 Rio Hitsuni 3-way T6 90.417 417 points. 82. Raasmus Hoygard, 3-way T4, 114.799 points. 83. Carl Villips, fourth, 123.66 points. 84. Matt McCarti, three-way T3, 139.3. For all other competitors ranked below number 120, the only way to secure a playoff spot is by winning the tournament. Notably, Christo Vald del Solola, ranked number 176, is the first player in the field who has already been eliminated from postseason contention. This week is not just about the competition. It’s a dramatic culmination of the season where every stroke counts and the pressure is palpable. Who do you think will rise to the occasion and secure their place in the playoffs?
