today’s game is brought to you in HD by EA Sports and Madden NFL 11 happy to have you alongside to what should be a fantastic football showcase who do you see as the key players for this matchup Chris well guess I’ve got my eyes on the two quarterbacks in this one I had a chance to talk to both of these guys obviously got guys that have experience in this situation they’ve been here before and yet it’s always so interesting you can see a different look in their eyes when they’re warming up you know that they know the significance of these matchups and it just adds another level of excitement to the football game when you’re talking about this kind of Talent on the field this should be a really good one I know you’re excited I’m excited let’s get it going interesting Chris great story line here today and we’ll follow that story line as this game moves [Applause] on we do let’s go [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] this will be down to the end zone for a Touchback they’ll take over at the 20 now we have a first down and 10 to go throws the Deep pass he can’t come up with it incomplete pass and they can’t complete the first down pass attempt second down coming up so they’ll face a second and 10 has a man to his right little flip the stop was made by Gatewood and that’s good quarterback play he recognized the blitz he understood what was happening with the coverage behind it and found the open man and we’ll have a first down and 10 on their own 37 he throws short watch out he’s got space Johnson was there to bring him down yeah really not much a defense can do when you get a guy that can throw the football like that you know you get yourselves in position defensively you think you’re in the right spot you’re going to make a play and a guy makes a throw like that you go hey that’s a good throw sweep left he’s tackled at the 50 those are the kind of runs that really wear a defense down you just keep pounding it in there three yds four yds pick up for there and a first down [Applause] they line up at the 50 and they’ll run him again Grant was there for the Stop nice run a pick up of eight that’ll bring up second down and two yards away here on second down passes it down field he completes it he’s brought down at the eight really nice job that time reading the blitz he knew he was going to have a chance for a big play just hang in there hang in there and he made it first down and goal for the offense now after that big pass play feeds it to the back he Powers into the end zone for a touchdown the home team get the first touchdown of the game I always say making the hole is the hard part if you give any one of a number of backs a hold that size they’re going to be able to pop it in there for a touchdown nice blocking there by the big guys and the point after is good Las Vegas is up seven let’s take a look at the drive summary presented by Verizon the official wireless service sponsor of the NFL camps under it he will start from his own five he gets it back out to the 20 yd line let’s see what they do with the play calling here the last thing you can afford to have happen right now after that big Drive is to go three and out on the ground left side he’s wrestled down at the 26 yd line Jones runs for a nice gain of six [Applause] yds so second down the offense needs about four for the first short throw to the right he’s dropped down at the 42 when you’re trying to Blitz the quarterback you better have some talented corners on the outside because as a wide out just give me three or four seconds against the Blitz and it is awfully tough to try and cover that he rolls out to the right The Defender tips it away that incompletion will bring up second [Applause] down they spot the rock on the 42 yd line Co ER hands it off he gets to about the 47 yd line nothing makes a defensive coordinator cringe more than seeing that kind of run because then it sets up the play action and there’s almost no way to stop an offense if you can’t stop the run and you have to deal with play action and we’ll have a first down and 10 ball is all the 47 Jones takes a hand off and he makes it out to about the 44 yd line and they really ran right into the blitz that’s a time that a veteran quarterback should have changed the play at the line of scrimmage you could see the blitz coming he didn’t Audible and only came away with a short game Jones gets the carry well there’s def Defenders get paid too and every once in a while they win the battle clearly that time they were all over this offensive [Applause] line they line up at the 46 he passes it he’s got it he’s tackled at the eight and that play could have easily gone for six and when you start to hit a couple of big pass plays it really puts the defense in a tough spot they no longer feel quite as Brave coming up and defending those short passes offense comes out first and goal needing a touchdown to tie things up and the tackle was made by Bishop and just seven yards from a touchdown now gives it left side drop behind the line it is just so difficult for offensive lines to account for the safety typically that’s the one free runner that you have and if you have a top flight safety back there that can come in and make the those kinds of plays it really helps your run [Applause] defense and they need just eight for the score he’s dragged down on the play they’ll line up for the field goal this will be a 34 yder the kick bounces off the upright no good the offense will start at the 24 yd line they keep it on the ground with the tail back he gets to about the 34 yd line [Applause] and from their own 34 yd line on the ground with the tail back he’s wrestled down at the 47 yd line first down and 10 ball is on the 47 he lets it go he leaps What A Catch yeah he scored a few style points with that one but more importantly they pick up the first [Applause] down looks like the offense is a little excited down there offense even the slightest twitch by an offensive lineman will draw a flag you know defensive guys really have a bit of an advantage as long as they don’t cross the line of scrimmage they can jump and Flinch and try and get that offensive line to react pitch out he’s dropped for a loss a lot of defensive coordinators really believe in trying to take away the inside gaps and force the back to bounce to the outside believing that in this league in this day and age there’s too much speed to really be be effective going outside second down 17 yds for the first flips it out short to his left he’s brought down at the 42 picks up four on the pass so that will make it third down they spot the rock on the 42 yd line goes through his progression Franks with the interception makes a cut and he will be hit and dropped boy the defense put the pressure on and forc the bad throw and throwing the football is really about what you do with your feet the great ones can throw off balance and out of position but so many guys if they don’t get their feet set they make throws just like that and it costs their team it’s complete clutch reception I know we all talk about 40 yard dash times in the NFL but as a receiver if you are a great route Runner and you understand what the defenses are trying to do to you it does doesn’t matter if you run a 4340 if you can get in and out of your Cuts like this guy you will always be able to play here’s the give he’s dropped down at the 37 short yardage situation here they’ll need a little less than a yard to convert still a lot of time left but at the end of one the score 7 nothing [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] it’s a third and one situation dumps it out right complete nice catch sheds the tackle this team is just so good at executing those short quick passes and picking up first downs and keeping drives alive [Applause] looks left here’s a short pass and they really forced them to throw that one before he had a chance to read the coverage you know typically when they Blitz you end up in one-on-one coverage but you have to have time to throw the ball Jones fumbles the ball they’ll pile up for it Las Vegas got it the home team recover it after the long battle nice work to get that ball and cover it up he’s a hustling player he got there and then he’s strong enough to get it out of the pile looks to throw it brings it in for a completion he’s wrestled down at the 22 yd line it really is so much the key to football you talk all the time about you have to establish the Run well there you see why you establish the run and then you come with the playaction pass just so hard to defend it’s first and 10 ball on the 21 yd line dumps it out left misses the receiver and it’s incomplete and that’s one of those that the wide out goes back to the Huddle thinking he stinks this guy’s terrible then as soon as he sees his quarterback he says don’t worry about it we’ll get it next time they line it up at the 22 short throw to the right you know that’s the kind of pass pattern I used to always love to run because if the defense is even a little bit lack in their coverage it’s pretty easy to get that one in there 11 yds [Applause] out hand off to the [Applause] right the defense couldn’t figure out a way to come up with a stop on that third down attempt and let’s give that big offensive line a little credit there they knew they were going to have to drive this defense off the ball and that’s exactly what they did on that [Applause] [Music] [Applause] one Las Vegas hoping to double their lead here as they close in on the goal line looks like someone on the offense tried to get an early start even the slightest twitch by an offensive lineman will draw a flag you know defensive guys really have a bit of an advantage as long as they don’t cross the line of scrimmage they can jump and Flint and try and get that offensive line to react and he’s tackled at the 11 so they are now on the 11 checks down to the short pass he’s brought down at the 5 yd line they pick up six with the pass just keeps the ball moving down the field sixy gain and uh little progress they’ll line up on the five yd line looks for the safe short throw that’s a touchdown the passing game is really completely different once you get inside that 10 yd line you don’t have time to sit and hold the ball that time he got it out quickly and got it in there for the touchdown and he adds the point after [Applause] Las Vegas looks ready to kick it away Bradley is deep looking to return the kickoff he’ll down it in the end zone they’ll start this drive at the 20yd [Applause] line inside G he’s wrestled down at the 22 yd line two yards second [Applause] down from their own 22 yd line running out of time he’s dropped and that’s a huge sack tough situation for the offense after the sack they’re going to need a long 13 to convert here’s the pass he’s got room and he’s tackled at the 42 this is a guy who is so good against the blitz people try to come after him but he has an ability in inside that pocket to make a Defender Miss Sid step Somebody by a little time and get that big completion it’s a big gain through the air sets up the offense with another first and 10 Ops for a short throw he’s dropped down at the 34 yd line he gains eight with the reception so that will make it second [Applause] down battle takes it up the middle and when you can run the ball for first downs it sets up the play Action Now look for this team to be able to mix it up and that can be so tough on a defense now we have a first down and 10 to go and they’ll spot it at the 27 they hand it off again he’s brought down at the 23 yd line battle picks up about four yds on the [Applause] carry they line up at the 23 Co pepper will hand it off gains his way to the 13 yd line looked like someone might have jumped you know it’s just five yards but a penalty like that can really throw your offense off Rhythm you definitely have to now change the play call at this point it’s the tail back they tackle him for a loss and if you can make a running back hesitate just a little that time you could see there really was no hole and the running back was just fishing for a place to go again with the Run he’s wrestled down at the 18 that brings up another third down attempt looking [Applause] Enzo fourth down and the kicker is on for the 35 yd try some one jumped early down there repeat fourth down so it’s fourth down and they’ll attempt the field goal this one from 40 yds away it’s up and sails wide right no good the home team will start this drive at the 30 hit as he throws a burn first of speed and he’s in the open gone get this man a new contract watch out touchdown so the missed field goal opens the door for this offense and they answer in the form of a touchdown [Applause] the Pat is up and good Las Vegas is just about ready to kick this one away Bradley is back to receive the kick he’ll down it in the end zone the offense takes the field and they have to be a little frustrated that they couldn’t get the ball through the [Applause] uprights up the middle gains his way to the 29 yd line nyd pickup that brings up second [Applause] down short yardage situation here second and a yard Jones again and he’s tackled at the 35 sometimes when you get a back with this kind of talent it can be so difficult to get him on the ground He is wanting to go deep with it that incompletion will bring up second down searching for an open man he gets off the throw it is an incomplete pass anytime you give up that quick pressure like that very seldom are those passes completed here they have a third down and 10 to go ball on the 35 yd line surveys the field leaps it’s caught wow and he went way up to snag that one that was a pretty catch passes short right side it’s almost picked off second down coming up after the incomplete pass it’s now second down 10 yds to go good coverage downfield he’s got it he’s tackled at the 19 patience for a wide receiver is just so key he’s able to manipulate that defense set him up one play come back with the exact same look and break off of it the next beautifully run he’s got it touchdown and they finally answer the two touchdown drives by their opponents leading up to this possession extra point is good camps under it he will start from his own five gets it to the 21 the home team have put together a couple of nice drives back to back let’s see if the defense can adjust gives it to the back he’s dropped down at the 25 four yd gain that’ll bring up second [Applause] down and it’s now now second and six and there’s two minutes remaining in the half has a man to his right little flip he’s brought down at the 41 yd line and this receiver just loves it when the defense is in man coverage yeah there’s no better feeling than when you’re coming off the ball and you know it’s just you and the guy across from you that’s just good oldfashioned football but you also know typically when you get coverage your quarterback is under pressure looking for a man his pass will fall incomplete and when you’re trying to go after one of those deep throws you really want to give your receiver a chance we’ve seen guys in the league so Adept at making plays on the ball but you can’t make it when it’s that far overthrown [Applause] third down now they’ll need a couple of yards to convert for a first down he throws downfield can’t complete that pass Andre Davis was the intended receiver on the play and that’s a throw you just expect a professional quarterback to make he doesn’t miss those wide openen throws like that very often the home team line up to punt and I have a feeling this one is coming back and he’s hit as he lets go of the ball Bradley was his intended target he’s searching for a receiver Bradley was the intended receiver that brings up third and 10 a minute left in the half the pass is away brings it in for a completion and it looks like the offense needs a timeout and they’ve got two timeouts remaining and we’ll have a first down in [Applause] 10 Greenwood gets a sack on the play offense faces a second and 14 situation following the sack on first down he gets off the throw another catch on this drive everything seemed to work perfectly on that one and that’s a pattern that this team likes to run you know they’ve been studying that all week on film and yet they still can’t stop it he’s loose and running strong and he’s tackled at the 41 yd line yeah and the key is making that first pass rusher miss you more often than not there’s one guy in your way you can make that first guy miss a lot of times those Defenders have their backs turned and are running away from you [Music] still looking for an open man he cruises in for the touchdown there’s just something about a ball that you know if you catch it it’s six points and if you don’t you’re going to be the go to the game it just makes you focus a little bit more and he adds the point after and he gets the ball at the five gets it to the 20 21 they were forced to punt on their last [Applause] Drive give to the tail back he’s looking to turn the corner he’s dragged down at Midfield first down 10 to go ball at [Music] Midfield goes through his progression he goes down sack [Music] [Music] [Music] Las Vegas will be kicking it to start the second half and he gathers it at the 6yd line he makes it out to about the 21 yd line the offense will start at the 21 yd line [Applause] and they get to it and that’s sack number four in the game the pressure by this defense has been there all day and offensively they’re just struggling trying to come up with a protection scheme that works so the sack on first down brings up second and long the halfback with the carry he fights forward to about the 16 the defense filled up all the gaps the back was looking for somewhere to run but by bringing the run blitz they took away all the holes and stopped them for a minimal gain third down and 15 The Rock on the 16 yd line lets it go deep he dipped the ball away the defender gets a hand on it and that will bring up fourth down well at the end of the game you go back and you basically say what happened on third down and you have a pretty good indication of how that game came out good play by the defense fourth down the visiting team are lining up to putt this one away Cox will take off at the 38 he really didn’t have any room to work on that punt return no question about it he needs a little more help out of his blockers than he got right there this is a dangerous guy and if he can get in some open space he can create some problems for you but just no space to be found there gains his way to the 46 yd line [Applause] run right side he’s wrestled down at the 39 yd line a pickup of about seven second down they’ll need about three yards here on second down he gets another carry he’s dropped down at the 38 and that’s why you send all those guys to plug up the holes and that time there were no holes really and he was likely to get anything on the play they line up at the 38 flips out short too close to call here comes the chain game and he did get the first down and that’s one of the big differences in the game today the fact that those third and short situations are basically passing Downs now instead of [Applause] runs first down 10 to go he rolls out to the right he takes off he’s tackled at the 24 yd line boy in that kind of situation you just think that if they’re going to pick up the first down on you they’re going to have to do it throwing the football but that time the quarterback got out in the open field and got it done now we have a first down and 10 to go ball on the 24 they’ll work the right side he’s brought down at the 23 yd line nice call there by the defensive coordinator coming with the outside linebacker Blitz which really put some pressure on this group up front they give it off here he may not have gotten there they’ll measure they’re just inches short here’s a look at today’s Red Zone numbers made possible by Old Spice body wash wham bam thank you for smelling great man it’s third down now and just about the length of the football away from the first down [Applause] marker dumps it out right he’s off Target on the pass incomplete Randy McMichael was the intended receiver on the play so it’s Fourth Down The Kicking team will line up for this one this try from 32 yds away and the kick is good so after that kick the score is now the home team 24 the visiting team 14 this is a good opportunity to take a look at the drive summary presented by Verizon and he gets the ball at the five he makes it out to about the 21 yd line really need to step it up offensively now either somebody come up with a big play or at least sustain a drive to keep that defense on the field for a while a touchdown on this series would be a huge boost and if he can get just a little bit more time there are guys running open down the field the pressure is getting close but it’s not there he should take a fraction longer to make that throw [Applause] they’ll face second down and 10 it’s a pass complete nice catch he’s dropped down at the 33 Washington now with four catches in the game and we’ll have a first down and 10 ball is on their own 33 hammered as he lets it go and he’s tackled at the 42 they’ll get nine yds on the [Applause] play they spot the rock on the 42 yd line good coverage downfield Alexa Run for the first down he’s tackled at the 49 yd line and the more you talk to defenses and defensive coordinators probably the thing that frustrates them the most is when a quarterback takes off and runs with the football he’s the one guy they would like to not have to defend inside handoff Jones carries for a 5yd gain they line up at the 46 surveys the field and that’s a catch he’s brought down at the 41 yd Line Washington has been a very effective weapon in the passing game today that last catch puts him over a 100 yards [Applause] short throw to the right he’s dropped down at the 28 yd line hand off on the draw he’s wrestled down at the 22 yd line battle runs for a nice gain of six yds dumps it out left hauls it in and he’s knocked out at the three that pass put him over 300 yds for the game and what’s really impressed me has been his accuracy he’s been squeezing the ball into some tight situations all game his accuracy has just been tremendous hammered in the back field yeah great defense at the point of attack but also very impressive the pursuit to the ball they were all coming there here’s a look at today’s Red Zone numbers made possible by by Old Spice body wash wham bam thank you for smelling great man under heavy pressure the home team have been like I don’t know a big bully in this game they get sack number five so now they’re looking at third and goal and they’ll go from the 13 look out heavy pressure on him what do they have to do on on offense to stop giving up sacks I simply think this is one of those games where you’re just overmatched on the offensive line you know it the defense knows it the coaching staff knows it and there’s just nothing you can do so the kicking team is on the field to try for three points and they’ll be looking at a 38- Yer the kick is good so the score now the visiting team 17 the home team 24 and here is the drive summary brought to you by Verizon this will be down to the end zone for Touchback the home team come out looking to get another scoring drive going here they got three last time has a man short to his left he’s looking to turn the corner he’s brought down at the 44 yd line Playmakers in the open field there’s nothing more exciting in football and nothing that hurts a defense more than when you think you have that quarterback in your sights and he gets it out of there good gain through the air will set them up with another first down and 10 so at the end of three the score is 2417 [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Music] the home team have a one touchdown lead and the ball as we start the final quarter goes through his progression avoids a sack by getting it off as he’s hit he’s dropped down at the 33 well when you have a talented running back like this you always have to account for him that time a nice playaction Pass open it up down the [Applause] field first down and 10 they’re on their 33 the give to the tail back he’s wrestled down at the 29 yd line pick up of four that brings up second down dumps it out right and that’s a catch he’s brought down at the 25 Randy McMichael with his fourth catch of the game third down and they need a couple of yards for the [Applause] first it’s broken up by the defense Defender and it’ll be fourth down following the pass deflection I don’t know if that’s the guy I want to pick on on third down when you have to have a conversion he is [Applause] tough so it’s fourth down this one will be from 42 yds out and it looked like someone on the offensive line jumped so the kicker comes out to try and put three points on the board this kick will be from about 47 yds out the kick is no good and we’ll have a first down and 10 gets it away he’s dropped down at the 47 yd line Co pepper hands off on the delay yeah sometimes you just have to admit defeat on a play as a running back and just try and get that thing back to the line of scrimmage so they’ll face a second and 10 ball on their own 47 looking for a man he tries to scramble huls it in for the long touchdown yeah that passing touchdown gives him three for the game terrific play call that time by the offensive coordinator to take advantage of that weakness in this defense sometimes as a play caller you just get the feeling you’re a step ahead and that’s been the case today the extra point to tie this game [Applause] up extra point is good in the fourth with more than 11 minutes remaining the score is the visiting team 24 the home team 24 this is a good opportunity to take a look at the drive summary presented by Verizon damps under it he will start from his own F gets it to the 21 the home team will set up shop at the 21 yd [Applause] line they’re going deep misses the receiver and it’s incomplete oh boy big missed opportunity that time he had a man deep just put too much on the throw and you can see he is just kicking himself now it’s now second down 10 yds to go on the ground up the middle gains his way to the 33 yd line those big guys up front they just keep pushing the defense back at some point now you’re going to have to do something to try and stop those running Lanes but then look out the passing is going to be wide open let’s go boys let’s go flips it out short to his left and he’s tackled at the 36 yd line a gain of three yards on that [Applause] one hands It Off did he get there we’ll have a measurement the signal is a first down the defense took their shot there they took a guess it wasn’t right let’s just Mark that one up as a win for the offense [Applause] they line up at the 43 he’s going to pass he’s wrestled down at the 42 Desmond Brisco is proving once again that he’s an extremely versatile weapon passing the Sentry Mark and receiving with that reception [Applause] and we’ll have a first down and 10 they spotted at the 42 again he’ll get the call he’s dropped down at the 36 yd line a pick up of five that’ll bring up second down [Applause] second down and five to go he loads up for the Deep throw it is an incomplete pass and sometimes I think quarterbacks get so cautious on throws like that because they don’t want to turn the football over give your guy a chance to make a play down the [Applause] field has a man to his right little flip looked like someone got caught holding here’s the official call they’ll line up for a very long field goal attempt this one 53 yds away and the kick is good he just showed off his incredible leg strength there what a kick wow can you believe he made that one that’s my expert analysis there Wow Let’s Take a look at the drive summary presented by Verizon he’s tackled and down at the 17 they’ll get the ball here at the 177 here’s the throw he’s got it he’s brought down at the 33 it’s one of the dangers you bring those extra Defenders trying to get after the quarterback and you’re going to leave some man coverage on the outside that the quarterback able to take advantage they line the ball up at the 33 Jones gets it on the draw he’s wrestled down at the 3 seven passing in this situation seems like it would have been a good idea passing in every situation seems to me like it would be a better idea but when you have the clock working against you like this it’s time to put it up they’ll keep it on the ground again he didn’t get back to the line did you see how fast that linebacker was on that one not only did he recognize it but when he did recognize it he had the EXP iveness to get there and looking at a third and six right here flips it out short cuts back and he’s dropped Co pepper has passed for 400 yards in this game they line up at the 49 they’ll go with the run once again I am a little surprised with that call no at this point in the game when you know that not only is the defense working against you but so is the clock a run call here probably is not a very good idea Co Pepper with the give not sure if I agree with that call at all yeah the running game at this Point works against you on a couple of fronts one you’re not going to get typically a big play out of it and that clock keeps on ticking the offense needs about three yards to get the first here on third down he’s going to throw it he can’t come up with it incomplete pass a Miss chance to make a big play there he seemed to get a little too excited and just made a really poor throw [Applause] fourth down the visiting team lining up to punt goes into the end zone for a Touchback with only a one possession lead this one is definitely not yet in the books at this point in the game you just go execute your game plan don’t get too conservative forget that the scoreboard says you’re winning just go play offense Gatewood with a taked down again that’s his fifth tackle of the [Applause] game On Their Own 20yd Line second down and seven yards to go two minutes left in the ball game they hand it off he makes his way to about the 35 and that should just about do it that was a big time clutch run right there to try and seal this game up it looks like all they’re going to have to do now is just sit on the ball [Music] again with the carry and he’s tackled at the 47 yd line [Applause] they go with the Run he’s dropped down at the 49 yd line pick up of four second down here’s the give this is close they’ll bring out the chain they’re just inches short and it’s third down half yard to go maybe a little bit less this one might have been a false start on the offense let’s get the call and we’ll replay third down tough spot for the quarterback now after that penalty because now the possibility of seeing that added pressure is really heightened dumps it out left he completes it tries to bounce it outside he gets knocked out of Bounds at the 35 yeah the defense came with pressure but they couldn’t quite get to the quarterback and they paid a price he got it out of there picked up a nice game first down and 10 ball on the 35 they go with the kneel [Applause] down second down and a long 12 and this should be a kneel down as they just try to kill the clock goes to one knee again they line the ball up at the 39 that’s the end of this one the game’s top plays
