Some people hate them. I just changed all my woods and my driver with midsized this year. Having great results.

I’m a convert to midsize, and felt vindicated by a recent Sweet Spot episode. What thread are you referencing?

When I first started playing, I had a hand me down set with golf pride midsized grips. After a couple of months I decided I was hooked, and I bought new clubs. They came with standard grips. One range session with those grips absolutely wrecked my back. Only explanation I can think of was that I was gripping too hard and causing tension up the chain to my back which got fucked trying to turn and swing. Got them regripped to the same grips from the hand me down set and I was fine.
The Sweet Spot podcast had a really interesting episode last week where they spent a lot of time talking about grip size and grip pressure. It convinced me to put a jumbo grip on a club that was due for regripping anyway as an experiment (experiment failed, that club is going back lol). I’d definitely check it out if you’re thinking about grip changes.

I just regripped down to standard and am hitting the ball better

I use extra wraps of tape because midsize grips feel like a baseball bat in my hand, but standard feel like a toothpick 😐
JubbieDruthers
I have size triple xl glove for my jumbo grips. I hit massive bombs.

Very few pros use them just fwiw. Doesn’t mean they won’t work well for you but don’t get sucked into the hype like you’re missing something big.

Whatever the size…try ribbed grips if you aren’t already. I hated them growing up, but I’ve done a complete 180 on them after trying them seriously in a set of irons.
And I became convinced after hearing something like this: If the rules let you play a non-round grip, take advantage of it. If it makes the game easier…

remember that most people on reddit are awful at golf, and are people you’d never take advice from if you knew them in real life.

I did. Went back to standard. I was leaving the face open.

I just had my clubs gripped with the jumbo CP2’s with four wraps based on the advice of the person at the shop.
Then decided a week later they were way too heavy and just had the mm completely retried with the MCC plus 4’s.
I don’t even care if I don’t like those, they are staying till they fall off.
The issue is there are so many opinions and so many feel fine… or don’t at different times.
You just have to pick one. I also put different ones or different clubs to see before, but that did not work.

I recommend trying it on a club or two for a bit to see how it feels
I’ve always had wrist and tendon issues. Tried a mid size grip on my 8 iron for a few weeks and didn’t mind it. So I switched all my grips over. Got used to it pretty quickly and so far, seems like my wrist pain is much better.
Only down side I’ve had so far is that I need to re-learn my touch when chipping. Lots of the feel has gone away. But I’m making good progress with a little practice

I mean just measure your hand size… like depending on that you will know what grip and how many tape layers you need. I use midsized with 3x tapes, which jumbo is equivalent to midsized plus 4 tape layers. Also some players go with lower tape on lead hands.

I am a big fan of the Winn Dri Tac oversized. They look like wraps and very comfortable. Only downside is they do wear rather quickly, but in the midwest summers they help keep a great grip on the club.
Lakkapaalainen
I recommend full cord midsize grips and no golf glove.

I bought some used wedges off marketplace that had mid-sized grips on them. I couldn’t get them off fast enough. I also have small hands haha
dcidino
Standard 3 papers for wedges, or Midsize straight in.

Golf shops that sell grips will usually have a measuring tool for hand size, similar to a foot measuring tool at a shoe store.

Most pros play standard.

I use the jumbo CPx’s, but I have abnormally large hands so it’s not for everyone obv
Mr_Oujamaflip
My hands were hurting, especially with driver. Basically couldn’t hit more than 2-3 drives a round and the day after my hands hurt a lot. Didn’t give a shit if the swing went because I could barely play. Switched to jumbo Golf Pride CP2s on everything other than my SW and LW and now 0 pain. I’m also similarly bad as before so it’s an absolute win.

Yes, you should. I recommend the Golf Pride CP2.
Try Jumbomax!
Supposedly very few pros use them. [**https://x.com/LukeKerrDineen/status/1883913132680380569**](https://x.com/LukeKerrDineen/status/1883913132680380569)
