The Swanton Chamber of Commerce celebrated a successful day on the course with its 29th Annual Andrew McNeill Golf Tournament, held for the first time at White Pines Golf Course.
Although the weather was a concern early on, skies cleared and the event went off smoothly, with 23 teams registered and 15 volunteers helping throughout the day.
Previously held at Valleywood Golf Course in Swanton, the event was moved this year to White Pines Golf Course, a newer chamber member, as a way to spread support and showcase different parts of the local business community.
The Chamber expressed its appreciation to everyone who came out, not just to compete, but to enjoy time together over lunch and dinner and connect with other businesses and community members.
The tournament honors the memory of Andrew McNeill. His widow, Patty McNeill, has continued to support the event generously, along with longtime sponsor Swanton Welding. Their ongoing involvement has been a key part of the tournament’s success.
Open to both chamber members and the general public, the tournament continues to grow each year. Participants paid $75 per person or $300 per team, with lunch, dinner, and a wide variety of raffles included.
This year’s 50/50 raffle featured prizes like Mud Hens tickets and items from the Corn Festival, among other giveaways. A special hole-in-one challenge on hole 17 even gave golfers the chance to win a car.
For those interested in getting involved next year, whether as a player, volunteer, or sponsor, the chamber encourages early outreach. Details and opportunities will be posted on the community calendar as next year’s event draws near.
