Experienced industry professional Calle Carlsson has been appointed Chief Operating Officer and Deputy CEO of Caddies Europe, a leading multi-course operator with 21 golf facilities across Sweden, Finland and Spain.
Carlsson, who will begin his new role on 1 September and will be based in Spain and Sweden, brings with him an extensive and accomplished international career in the golf industry and will play a key role in the continued growth of both Caddies and its subsidiary, GolfStar, across Europe.
The Caddies Group currently includes GolfStar, Cloud Golf Club, TopTee Greenkeeping, Företagsgolfen, SmartGolfa, Greenfee Outlet, and Golfresan on Tour.
For the past two decades, Carlsson has held executive positions in golf management. Most recently, he served as Director of Business Development for the European sports agency 54, headquartered in London and active in nine countries. The founders of 54 are widely recognized as the architects behind the LIV Golf tour.
Prior to his tenure at 54, Carlsson was the CEO of Spanish golf resort Infinitum (formerly Lumine), operated by Troon. He also served on Troon’s international advisory board, among other key roles.
“I’ve followed GolfStar since 2018 when we began our collaboration ad Infinitum,” said Carlsson. ‘In the past, there haven’t been many attractive golf industry roles connected to Sweden. But now, with Caddies Europe – which owns and operates GolfStar – I have the opportunity to help shape the future of golf for both players and course owners. It’s not just interesting, it’s exciting and meaningful to be part of leading that change.”
Tony Trigell, Group CEO and founder of Caddies Europe and GolfStar, commented: “Calle is one of the most experienced professionals in golf operations worldwide. His international perspective, extensive network, and strategic mindset – combined with a practical understanding of golfers’ needs and commercial course management – will help elevate the entire Caddies Group to a new level. I’m fully confident that Calle will be a strategic asset in successfully establishing Caddies, GolfStar, and our other subsidiaries in the European golf market.”
