talking about. Yes. My name is Bryson Dashambo. Ever since I was a kid, I’ve loved to golf. I used to sit down five times a week and watch this little movie called Happy Gilmore. Now I get to play a round of golf with Mr. Happy Gilmore himself, Adam Sandler. Oh yes. Come on. Will you just get there, you dumb? Okay, guys. This is for grandma’s house. [Music] Oh yeah, baby. Oh, hey, you put this in, you’re my best friend. Mhm. Last fall, we had a lot of fun shooting Happy Gilmore 2 together. But now, it’s time for the real challenge. Today, I’m teaming up with the Sandman to try and shoot a perfect score at 23 under par and break 50 for the first time ever as a twoman scramble team. The problem is Happyy’s starting to get a little old, so we’re going to have to play all the way up from the old man’s teams. Some would say this challenge is impossible. But if anyone can accomplish this feat, it’s happy Gilmore. Welcome back to Break 50, episode 4. Even Katy Perry, huh? Yeah, that always gets me riled up before every round, man. I love it. What do you think your chances are out here today? I think pretty good. The conditions are a little softer, so we can control the golf ball and the memes if you guys break it. And every time I’m on a golf course, I hear about it. I’m I’m expected to do the swing. Yeah. And what is that like? What’s that pressure like? Well, when I disappoint a lot. And I think he was in Felma and Louise at the time and we saw him and we thought he was awesome meeting him. He was I think he was working up in Toronto where we were shooting. Okay. And uh I don’t think he was that excited about being in it. It was a little goofy, a goofy movie. And he was used to being serious, kind of doing some serious [ __ ] And he was a funny dude for sure and a mad man. And uh I think ultimately we we hung out, got to know each other, and we got comfortable. He got more comfortable. And then all of a sudden he was banging away with the shooter fingers and coming up with When did that come up? I I don’t even know how we called him shooter McGavin. The last name is Darren McGavin was in Billy Madison. He played my dad. So we always tried to tie in all our movies with some sort of connection. And so McGavin was that and then Tim Hurley he came up with Shooter and then he ran with the shooter fingers and and it and and it literally shot off. He he certainly he he certainly does the shooter fingers. I’d say about 40 times a day. Yeah. That’s hilarious. So what the hell? This is a part five. Yeah. Yep. Time to make our first eagle. When did you start when did you knew you wanted to go down like acting? Well, there was never a thought of pro golf, by the way. I remember I was always like I could go four holes with my dad and then I started going, “When are when are we going home?” And he’d be like, “I knew this was going to happen.” Getting into comedy. I I think happened when I was like 17. Okay. My my uh I had no I was I was in a rock band. I was in rock bands a lot. Yes. That’s wild. Were you always kind of the class clown? Yeah. Yeah. This was going to be your life. golf, man. So, when I was 9 years old, I played my first junior tournament and I won my first tournament I ever played. You did at nine? Yeah. And I shot it was from the fairway, but I shot even par. And yeah, cuz I could drive it up there, hit a second wet shot on the green and whatnot. And I shot even par and won. And who taught you to play? My my dad. Your dad. My dad good immediately. Yep. I knew I could play golf pretty well. It wasn’t until I was 15. I won the California State Junior. I played a bunch of other events. So, I was playing other sports, played basketball, played baseball, played volleyball, ping pong, really good ping pong. Really love ping pong. That makes sense. And uh yeah, I mean got to a place where I was 15 and started working really hard and won the California State Junior and I said, “I think I can do this.” And I went and placed third at Junior Worlds and um it was just a couple events. It was how much practice as a kid were you doing? It was every day though. It was every day. You got to give yourself that drive to get it done no matter what. You’re not just giving it. It’s not a golden spoon sort of thing. Yeah. Yeah. You know, um my parents, it was nice cuz you know, they focused their whole attention on getting me into tournaments and what not, but of course, but it wasn’t like a Yeah. We’ve got you flying across the country all the time, like, you know, I wouldn’t raise money and Oh, back here. We get a club length now, so we can move into this first little cut here, which is great. Good. You know, I always wanted to make a movie about uh uh the parent of a pro alete, what they go through and what they sacrifice. That would be a great idea. Yeah, I would love that. I’m at that age now. That’s all I can do. I can’t be the pro guy anymore. I’m the pro guys kid. I mean, dad. All right. So, this is I’m taking it out of that. Okay. So, chip. Okay, we Hey, we we birdied the tougher part of the challenge, which is part three. Okay. Yes. Wow, that was a be Goodness gracious. That was nice. Okay. So, what keeps you grounded after all the years in the spotlight? Uh I mean, I don’t know if I’m perfect at it, but most of it was the upbringing, uh the the family, the uh my wife’s pretty hardcore and keeping me uh grounded and uh it’s just a natural thing. You you just I like being around people. I like I like seeing people. I like connecting with them. And um nobody wants to connect with an [ __ ] So, you try to you try to not be an [ __ ] too much. And what inspires you to keep being the same way you are? Like, what what keeps you going? That’s funny, man. It’s like I’m getting older. I’ve always naturally just wanted to keep kicking ass. And um the last couple years I’m going, “All right, man. Go get to work, man. You got you got It’s not as I’m a little tired, a little my my my body’s just a little more like a little sluggier, but um the the finish line when it comes down to all I better finish strong. I still have that in me. I I still go makes you who you are. Exactly. Wake up, get it done. Don’t waste all that time you put into it. Everyone else putting a lot of time into let’s make this as good as we can make it. I still get that in me. That’s awesome. How about you, buddy? for for me. I mean, what keeps me going is inspiring kids. Like, yes. Yes. I used to be such a hard head on the golf course and and got angry a lot on the golf course. I still get frustrated and pissed off, but I don’t react the way I used to because I don’t want that to be what kids see of me. Gotcha. You know, and I still struggle with it and but I’m always continuing to get better and every day I think about it, it keeps reaffirming like why I do this. Yeah. Well, you can’t. You’re going to make mistakes throughout your life and and set the wrong example on occasion, but what can you do? That’s right. Yep. Oh, man. Well, that’s a good one, fellas. A great one.
