Just a few months after being traded by the Avalanche (and then by the Hurricanes), Stars forward Mikko Rantanen puts on a legendary performance, scoring a Game 7 hat trick against his old team, and sending the Stars to the Second Round of the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs.

The Dallas Stars and the Colorado Avalanche
getting ready to take the ice in front of 18,532 people who are going crazy as the home team takes
to the ice. Colorado trying to change history tonight as they go up against Jay Gottener
in the 199th game, seven in playoff history, the first of this playoff season. History
favors the home team. Colorado has also lost six straight game sevens dating back to
2002. Important to score first. Dallas has scored first in only one of the first six games
in this series. That was game five. Historically, these deciding games are close. 25% of them go to
overtime. Pete D’vor’s 8-0 record all time in game sevens is the best in NHL history. It’s the most
wins for a coach without a loss in game sevens in the history of the National Hockey League.
Kale Mar and his mates trying to hand coach the Moore. His first loss ever in a game seven. And
the lights come up on game seven of this first round series between Colorado and Dallas.
McKenzie Blackwood in his first career game seven. And at the other end of the ice, Jakeer.
Like Blackwood, he has started every game in this series. Two and one in career game sevens and in
the only loss he made 64 saves and an incredible performance and an overtime loss to the Calgary
Flames in Calgary. Dan Oor and Wes McCauley, the referee, Scott Cherry and Kyle Merchesen
are the linesman and game seven is underway. Cross ice bounce foul to Choskin. Put it
right on net and Auter tested very early. Hence sent it to the wall for Miko Ranton who
took a check. Now Nuskin for Colorado the former Dallas Star. Mo Ranton helped send it down the
wall to Granland. [Applause] Centering try by Labouchkin was blocked. Each team as you look
at the lineups playing with the same 18 skaters who played in game six in Denver two nights ago.
Josh Manson goes off. Hardly a nifty move to shed the pressure. Brock Nelson. Here’s a turnover to
Landisk. Try to get it to Nelson and a good play by Alex Petravic. Part of the third defense
pair for Dallas. Although out there at the moment with their best defenseman, Harley bent
across the line. off for Donov centering hoping for Johnston he got tied up at the goal mount
centering pass for Ben that one got deflected by Lechin Wyatt Johnston the 21-year-old backhands
one off the glove up Blackwood and into the corner four minutes without a whistle and now we have
one for a penalty and the officials are taking a look at him to see if there’s blood is going
to be penalized and Colorado will have its first power play. Yeah, that’s Jamie Ben. that’s going
to get the the penalty. The the Dallas captain is going to attempt to go get the puck. Dallas 14’s
got a double miner for ice stick will be reduced, but Dallas will be short-handed. They had
a power play early. Now Colorado gets their   chance. And while we were away, they announced
that the four minutes stands the double miner for the Dallas captain Jamie Ben. And no
doubt about it. Yeah, the stick is going   to come up. He cross checks Nachuskin right
in the chin. And so this Colorado power play, which is basically complete motion. The real
challenge for the killers is trying to keep the people in front of you. Mar’s going to start
at the point. He won’t finish there. They fly all over the zone. The communication for Dallas’s
penalty killers is paramount against this ABS power play. Power play has not been great in
this series. One for the last 14, three for 19. all three power play goals by Nathan McKinnon who
has scored six goals total in these playoffs to lead the Stanley Cup playoffs so far. Clearing
effort did not work as Dan Oor the referee got hit by the puck. Here is McKennon goes around
Cece and a beautiful left pad save by Oder. Man, that’s got to be terrifying when he gets ahead
of steam like that. He can beat anybody to the   outside. That time it was Cody Cece. McKinnon has
10 points in the six games in this series. Only Conor McDavid has more points in the playoffs. He
has 11. Down low. Blocked by Cece. Cross ice for Mar. Hence got a stick on it. right out in front
and good sticks on defense for Dallas as Landiskog was crashing from the weak side. Still 247 on the
power play. Colorado was eighth in the NHL in the regular season on the power play. Just under 25%.
Dallas an excellent penalty killing team. They were fourth in the league in the regular year.
Jonathan Drewan on now back to Taves and across for Nichus. He got forced back by Colin Blackwell.
Cross ice and Harley gets a stick on it. Sends it up into the netting. 222 on the Colorado power
play. Midway through the first period, no score. When you clear the puck against Colorado,
even more importantly than any other team,   it’s got to go deep all the way down the ice.
Dallas doesn’t get it all the way. It just ends up at center. And so the defenseman can’t get up to
close the gap. And that gives McKinnon all kinds of space. His eyes open up. He knows I’ve got the
defenseman sitting flatfooted. He races around   Cece and Autton as he often does in game seven.
Makes another good stop. Kennan’s three power play goals tie with Sebastian Aaho, Carrill Capri
off, and Andre Kuseno for most in these playoffs. Bar headmans to McKinnon. Drops for Nas. Landiskog and Lechin complete
the power play for Jared Bedar. Dowo trying to stuff it. Neser held the post.
They’ve killed more than half of the four minutes. have the stars. CC shot at the length of the
ice and four new penalty killers on for Dallas. Mar dropped it back for McKinnon with
speed right up the middle. Now Nis back for Mar pressured by Johnston. He
spun away from him. Johnston and hence Harley and Laboskin killing the penalty
for Dallas. Mar walks right down and it   wound up off the back wall. They just let it
go by for McKennon. Pressured by Labouchkin. Lechin it back from a car. Nearing one minute
left on this four-minute power play. And McKinnon one timed it wide of the short side. And now
Landiskong, the captain of the avalanche clearing try knocked down by Macar prevented it from
going the length of the ice. They try to counter quickly but Colorado’s in the midst of a change
of personnel. Here’s Granland short-handed waiting for help and it’s well played defensively by
Taves. This has been a great 90 seconds for Dallas on the kill here. Fantastic work. Two shots on
goal, five shot attempts for Colorado in more than three and a half minutes of man up. We’re under
eight minutes to go first period. It comes free to   Nuskin down low. It wound up going wide as Auter
lunged out at him. Brock Nelson rebound free. Charlie Coyle set it toward the net. Wild scramble
in the final seconds of this Colorado power play. Cross ice behind the Chuskin. Out of the box
comes Ben as it’s golf the length of the ice by Blackwell. It’ll be an icing call. These fans
on their feet saluting the Dallas penalty kill. What a blast of energy in a building that’s
already rocking. Jakeer makes the stop here on Nes as he comes out on the short side.
Nuskin’s going to come out of this pack.   He’s got Jonathan Druan open there, but
that’s really well played by Blackwell to take that pass away and leave the shooter
for stretches out at 65 and Nuskin slides it wide to the post and excellent penalty
kill under pressure for the Dallas Stars. Manson had it deflected by Ben up
high. Here’s Duchain. Off for Ben. Ben playing in his 109th playoff game
tonight. All of them for Dallas in his 16th season with the Stars at age 35. their
captain now. Mason Marchment and it’s taken back in the neutral zone by Jack Drury who
send it into the right wing corner. Harley first there and it’s played out by Tyler
Sean. Molinsky got there ahead of Marchman. Brian Lingren out of defense now with Molinsky.
They’re the third pair for the Avalanche. Cece who played in the Stanley Cup final last year   for Edmonton played it ahead.
Branton and on the back hand there to make the stop for Colorado. Jared
Bedar said this morning the key for the ABS is pace. They want to take advantage of their
skating ability. Have it be a fast-paced game. They haven’t really been able to get it going up
and down to their liking. I would say that’s an advantage for Dallas. That’s the way they want to
play. Sam Steel for flying on. He threw it on the net and then the followup fan on by Beck Harley
put it on net off the pad of Blackwood. Played ahead by Manson. Too far ahead of Brock Nelson
and icing is the call against the Avalanche. Back down on the four check. Didn’t get the puck.
Lindren had it poked away by Steel. A minute five in the period. Good work by this fourth line for
Dallas. Steel battling McKinnon in the corner. Lingren poked it around. [Applause] And a good
check delivered against the far wall by Blackwell. Colorado in the midst of a line change. Nichuskin.   That’s deflected. No icing. Taves will
race after it with 35 in the period. [Applause] Nelson taking off the puck.
Has it back then fanned as he tried to feed McKinnon. Sean now Duchain. A
good stick by Taves to poke that away. Mard surveying the options with the period winding
down. Landiskog didn’t get it in deep. Cleared out by Lindell. Skated back by Nachuskin. 5
seconds in the period. Nachus hoping for a tip from Gerard. And that’s the period. Dallas
will want to keep the game compact. And Rupe Hint is one player that can really skate.
Had a tremendous second period in game six. had four points in that period. The tie an NHL
playoff record. ESPN Bets, the official sports book of ESPN, an official partner of the NHL.
They go ranting and also had four points in that period, the second period of game six. They’re the
only teammates in NHL playoff history each to have four points in the same period. The Choskin offer
for Landis Sky. Off it goes for Nelson. This shot blocked by Harley. I think some of the combatants
thought it went out of the rink. It did not. And here comes Myle Granling trying to split some
defenders. It slid in. Has had a couple of points in games five and six to get going a bit. Some of
the players in this series a while to get going. Vuskin blocked the shot up high by Labushkin.
That’s tough to say consecutively. Kuskin and no damage. No damage. It
came out eventually now. Hits stayed up on the dasher for a moment.
Harley down low. All alone. Granland   stopped. He couldn’t lift the puck
with Blackwood sprawling at him. Granland had a breakaway goal in game
six as well. This puck is going to go   around the boards and as you mentioned,
Sean, it stays up on the dasher. So, Landisk can’t get to it. He’s kind of chasing
it around the end, but Blackwood reads the   deak. Watch the right pad go right to the goal
post, there’s nowhere for Granland to sweep it around. And because he’s at the length of
his stick, as far as he can reach, he’s   not going to be able to wedge it over the goal
of Blackwood. That’s a good stop. A good read. Face off controlled by Dallas. Duchain tried
to send it down low. Marshm out in front. He was tied up by Molinsky. Lot of plumping right
in front of the Colorado net. [Applause] Yoel Gibby dump and chase down to the Drew in
a four check. Now Duchain the counter with Marchman and Harley coming. Duchain had it
deflected out of the rink by Samuel Gerard. Yeah, Colorado got seven in game six. Avalanche
had to come from behind in the third period to force this game seven. They trailed a 1.4 to
three. They got a couple of empty net goals. That was sent right on net. Now Lindren the followup
after Manson forced to kick one out. Ro hints on it. And now Harley with some room as Colorado
retreats through the neutral zone. 13 and a half to go. Second period. Josh Manson out on defense
with Ryan Lindren. Manson’s been up in the plate three or four times in the second period. Not a
player you would expect to do that. Just one goal of the regular season. He does have one here
in this series. It was one of those empty net goals in game six. Johnston a drive knocked down
by Blackwood. He couldn’t corral it. Well, the rebound was swept from hard. Now it’s back in hard
and backhanded on by Ben and a dandy by Blackwood. Wedged in by Minsky. Erase for it. Lean in there.
Not a lot of help yet in the offensive zone. They were in the midst of a change. Taves has some room
as does McKennon. Sends it wide to the short side. hard off the back wall from a car who
crashed. Couldn’t one touch it out in   front. Here’s Johnston with help coming down low.
The Donov had some space and couldn’t tip it. Man, the Stars with two rush chances. Colorado can’t
get any rush game going. The Stars are the one with the better chances off the rush. Cece
that scaled around the dasher for a moment. played around by Beck Catra. Kicked out
by Blackwood and the rebound to O Connor. Colorado would like to see this game get moving
up and down. 12 minutes to go. Second period. Sam Steel snapped it in. Mard chipped it up the
wall. Good stick by Kelly to hold off Steel. And now it’s Lingren. Came over from the New York
Rangers. The Minnesota native dumped it into the corner. Drury doing the work along the
wall. Steel off the stick of Blackwell who scored the game-winning goal here in overtime
in game two. His first playoff goal for this franchise. [Music] And it came as a gamewinner
in overtime. Wedged in by Steel. They changed. That was the fourth line for Dallas. Jonathan
Drew in missed a lot of time during the regular season due to injury. Three behind the net now in
front of the net and smothered by Jay Gottinger. Dallas has had a terrific start to this second
period. Wyatt Johnston, their terrific 21-year-old on the rush has got all kinds of room. The
slapper is going to catch Blackwood right up   on the shoulder. It popped up in the air. Well
defended by Molinsky. And then the next rush, same shift, Johnston goes across to Donov. It
looked like Donov wanted to take that on his forehand and sweep it into the net. If he gets it
on his backhand, he probably can just chip it into the net. It’s that splitsecond read from Donov.
Didn’t turn out to be the white right one, but we see a couple of really good plays from Johnston
as he gets going here in the middle frame. Lindell carries headmans for Granland.
They tried to send hints in penalty here. It’s got knocked down by Valinsky
who’s going off for interference. [Applause] 70 Colorado’s got a minor interference. so much skill in the game, but so often the
simple play is the one that creates the the chance to play the the next power play.
A little chip into the zone and Molinsky wants to bump the Dallas forward off
the puck. He ends up taking him out of   the play and so Dallas with their second
power play here. They didn’t score early in the first. Now they’ve got their second
chance in a chance for the game’s first goal. Now five for 20 in the series. A man up controlled
by Mar. Spins away from hence and sends it down. Played by Otinger. Harley will try to get the
power play set up. We’re nearing the midpoint of game seven and still no score. And this time
it’s Taves lofting at the length of the ring. Harley with hints. Rentin Duchain brought back played by Okconor who has the only
short-handed goal in this series. He centers one. They score. Shorthanded. Josh Manson
makes it one- nothing Colorado. [Applause] I mentioned a few moments ago, three
or four times in this second period,   Josh Manson of all people has been up in the
play trying to create some offense. A a poor entry into the zone by Hints. Okconor takes off
with his terrific speed and nobody gets to Manson coming up the middle of the ice. Duchaine is
late. The pass from O’ Conor is right on the tape and Josh Manson has an empty net goal
in game six. He’s got the short-handed goal in game seven and the ABS have a one- nothing
lead in one goal in 48 games in the regular season. Now goals in back-to- back games. Dallas
still on the power play for another minute five. Good work by Mard to anticipate that pass. Now
Grant, very sluggish power play here for Dallas. That’ll take a lot of the confidence out of your
team as you give up the shorty. Now you’ve got   to go and try and get it back and you you just
lose a little zip for a moment here. Hansen’s had three short-handed goals in his career
in the regular season. More than 600 regular season games. Harley with 35 on the power
play. Harley has a lot of room up top. Off it goes. Sean didn’t get much on the one-time.
Parker didn’t get it out. Harley hustled to the near wall. 20 seconds on the power play. Mar
and Sean. Bouncing puck for Ben. Sean back to Harley. Into the corner it goes. Marchman. Power
play running out. That one. Karum’s just wide. The Choskin tried to wind up and clear it for
Enland hinder that they still skate it down the ice. Taves dumps it in. Minsk’s out of the
box. Colorado back to full strength. They have the first goal of this game and it comes
short-handed. Manson from O’ Conor at 950 of this the second period. Had a terrific
year. careerhigh 83 points for Marty Nes. 28 of them in 30 games after he came over in
that stunning trade from Carolina with Jack Drury in the deal that sent Brandon and to the
Canes before they moved him on here to Dallas. Druan trying to center. Druan dropped it back
and Mar shot it wide. Taves into the corner. Charlie Coyle back to the line. Pointto point.
Taves to Mar. Mar that gets deflected a couple of times. A backhand right on. Kimmy Rant
managed to get a shot on even though he was tied up in the slot. That was a great stop out of
the traffic by Oinger to keep this a one- nothing game. [Applause] Hondridge is 26 years old but
loaded with playoff experience. CC banked it to the near side. Played up by Nelson Landiskog.
This been a good line since they got hooked together in this series. Gerard that hit escape.
It was Cece who sent it toward the near corner. Landis Scott in his return in game three played
on the third line. Then Jared Bedar moved him up here with Nelson and Machuskin and they’ve been
excellent. Gerard headmans to the red line. Kelly dropped it off to O’ Conor down low hoping for a
tip from Kelly. Hotinger stopped it. Drury in the corner for Colorado. Under five minutes to go down
to 417 now. Second period, one- nothing Avalanche on a short-handed goal by Josh Manson. Here’s
Brandlin in the corner. It’s wrapped up by Drury. Lard got it ahead for Kelly. Taves drops it
back. Drury set it toward the net offer to the back wall. O’ Conor sent it to the side of
the net. Aer not quite sure where it is as Drury was battling hints and now a whistle and now some
pushing and shoving and some punches being thrown. And that brought the crowd to life for one of the
few times tonight as the home team has just nine shots on goal late in the second period. He dumped
it in and he went off for Anthony and Gerard. Hence advanced it for Steel. This
is a mismatch line for Dallas. Steel got stood up and actually wound
up going down the ice. Shoved by   Gerard. Petravvic had it deflect by
Druan. Tough angle play went across the goal mouth from Ranton. And now
Pedro Mcbound. Batted wide by Steel. The minute 40 in the second period. Molinsky   shot it in. Played his college hockey at
Cornell. Played ahead and shot back in. Harley for Pedravic. Johnston held up
the stick of Manson so he couldn’t play it. Blackwell flying in on the
for check got bounced into the near boards by Johnson. Pedvic checked
O’ Conor Drury went in and nudge Cece Oscar Beck damn the brakes on. John’s been set up
out in front but the pucks taken away by Manson. Hoping O’ Conor can run under it. Cece back there.
Under a minute to go in the period. 50 seconds now and the free puck flipped out by Lindell. One of
four fins dressed for Dallas tonight. They can extend the season. And Hasten returns. They’ll
have five who hail from Finland. Touched in by McKinnon. Aer moved it into the corner. [Applause]
Now Marice move to fake out Duchain. Get a shot off from the top of the circle. Had plenty
on it. McKinnon on the for check trying to prevent any other opportunities for Dallas here
in the second period. 10 seconds in the period. Lechin and shot it in. [Applause] And Colorado’s
going to take a one- nothing lead into the third period of game seven of this first round series
in the West. The Niskan line is on for Colorado with Nelson in the middle and Landiskog on
the other wing. Off the glass [Applause] on it. There’s a penalty coming here against
Dallas. Blackwood’s out. McKennon attacks and scores. Nathan McKinnon makes it
two to nothing Avalanche. [Applause] This was going to be a Jamie Ben tripping penalty.
And because the goalender comes out of the net, Nathan McKinnon is going to come off the
bench unimpeded, undetected, and unstoppable. McKinnon’s going to come from the top end of your
screen as the puck will come back around. Here comes McKinnon open around Wyatt Johnston. And
remember on the first period on the power play, McKinnon had that same rush. Autinger shut down
the near post that time. McKinnon squeaks it in. He’s got seven goals in the series. It’s
two nothing out. Seven goals leads these playoffs. That’s his first career goal in a game
seven. He’s 0 and4 in his career in game seven. You see everybody waving to the goalender to
Blackwood. Come on. There goes McKinnon off   the bench and he’s coming with a full head of
steam. This is no chancer for Wyatt Johnston. ander doesn’t get himself squeezed on the
post. The puck finds the hole and that’s an enormous two nothing lead for Colorado in
the opening seconds of the second period. Here’s hence that off into
the corner taken by Taves   up the wall. A bouncing puck for CC. He
couldn’t keep it in as Nas got it out. at the line. Petravic Bishop put
it on net. Bouncing high in the   air. Played off. Duchaine stopped.
Great opportunity for Matt Duchaine. And Rantin makes a terrific play here with the
puck. He holds it and as everybody gets to Rantin and tries to take a look at him, Duchain pulls
up and he’s wide open. He wants to go up over the glove, but Blackwood pushes off the goal line,
gets out a few feet and makes a terrific glove stop. Duchaine still looking for his first of the
series. Here’s Logan O’Connor who assisted on the Manson short-handed goal. He’s a terrific penalty
killer. He scored their first short-handed goal of this series. Here’s Parker Kelly now. Took a
hit from Harley. Got it off to Jack Dur. Set it off the side of the net. Drury trying to work
it out in front again. He’s frozen against the back of the net. [Applause] Dallas has come from
behind twice in this series when trailing after two periods in games two and three. Both wound
up being overtime wins. [Applause] Charlie Coyle then it behind the net. Played back to the line
by Drewan. Lindren pressured up high by Ronin it coyle couldn’t squeeze it. He and back battled.
Drew played it back to the line to Manson. That’s off Auter. Bit of a sloppy rebound there. Given up
by Jake. Drewan sent it in deep. Great pressure by Colorado. They’ve owned the first two and a half
minutes plus of this third period, including the goal by McKinnon. His seventh of the playoff from
Lingren and Machuskin. There’s a takeaway by Beck. back centers one hoping for a tip by Johnson.
Cece had to deflect out of the rink off the stick of Brock Nelson. Colorado has defended now
well and they’ve checked up the ice but Dallas is going to find a few chances in this period and
when they do they better finish him. There’s   not going to be many many better than Matthew
Shanees here. He’s about 15 ft out. You see the Blackwood stop though. He goes side to side. He’s
on the goal line and Dallas is going to have to   start to push a bit. We talked a little earlier.
Think of Thomas Harley getting up in the play. The youngster play averaging 28 minutes a game in
this series without Hasten. And he’s got to find the energy. They need him to create something
here. He’s the one Dallas defenseman that can do that. He’s averaged 28 minutes 19 seconds
entering tonight. Second most in the entire playoffs. Brian Dumal in New Jersey the only one
who averaged more time on ice. in New Jersey had   all kinds of injuries to its defenseman. Got
a couple of oh boy games. Harley’s hurt. Yeah, he went crashing into the boards and grabbing at
his legs and the puck is frozen. Harley trying to figure out if he’s all right. He went into the
into the boards and a race with the Colorado forwarded. The stick of the Colorado player got
underneath his feet and he went in awkwardly into the boards. Landis. Oh boy. Stick gets into the
foot of Harley. You see his legs spread. He’s into the into the board. Fortunately, looks like
he’s okay as he’s up on his feet. Here it’s game seven. Colorado leading Dallas two to nothing.
Here’s Marty Nes setting up shot behind the net. Centers one. Taves blasted one over the net. He
had Lechan straining out in front. Taves again. That hit Lechan. Karen very close to McKinnon
who has it back from Leinan. Nous with hints defending. McKinnon Mar saved up high by Oder.
Good pressure by Colorado not sitting on this two nothing lead. Puck batted by a high stick and the
play whistled dead with 1323 to go. It’s really the first shift in the game where we’ve seen the
Mar McKinnon hair wander all over the offensive zone. So difficult to defend. And McKinnon who’s
now out high gives it to Mar who’s low into the slot. Tough to pick up. And Auter has to fight
off a really dangerous chance from Kale McConn. And Minsky back on it. Fishell pinching
in. Couldn’t play it. Linesman deemed he could have. So no icing. Petravic rolls all the
way down to Blackwood. He left it for Minsky. Marchman in hard on the for check as is Duchine.
And the clear goes by Petravic. Played in only five games in the regular season for Dallas,
but most of the year with their affiliate,   the Texas stars in the AHL. That’s a long year in
the AHL when you’re 33 years old as Petravic is, but he hung with it and now he’s in the Stanley
Cup playoffs. He becomes one of those players that takes a leadership role in the American
League. They know they’ve got him for depth, but   who thinks he’s going to play as much as he has
and as well as he has in this series. He’s done a really nice job. He’s playing in all six in the
series, now all seven after playing in just five in the regular seat and 58 in the AHL. Back for
Brandon. Brandon in all kinds of room. He scores. Nico Rantinan has Dallas on the board. [Applause] Miko Ranton had scored 34 goals in 81 playoff
games for the A. Look at the patience to walk across the slot to shoot it. Sam Steel
goes right through Lechanin and Lingret. He pushes those Colorado defenders
back and Rantin gets to get in nose tonose on Black when he beats him clean.
We got a game now and the crowd is alive. 37 career playoff goals, most of
them as Ray said with Colorado, his third in this series. He started very slowly
against his former mates. Had only one point in the first four games of this series, none in
the first two. That one point was an assist, but he in games five and six with seven points
combined. And he has the goal that is Dallas on the board. O’ Conor kicked up. Oh, stop by.
Couple of big stops by Ager right after his team made it a one-goal game. Slid in
by Donovan. The goal from Beck at 749. Johnston off for Granland. Branson in again wide
open and the shot missed the net by Leouchkin. It comes back to Labushkin. Granland now. Many
of the fans on their feet out in front and off the stick of Harley. He didn’t get a lot on it
and shrugs in disbelief after it was covered by Blackwood. He had a glittering chance to tie
this game at two. At the start of the period, we said Rantin’s probably got to get involved
here. He scores the goal to make it 2-1. And then he finds Harley back across the seam. The
ABS in a moment of panic lose their defensive coverage. And Harley takes this puck. It’s
probably 6 in too far and it hits halfway up his plate. If it’s flat, he gets more on
it and we might have a tie game. The stars are pushing down. Big minutes again tonight for
Harley. You have to think there’s some fatigue. It’s seven game series. Here’s Ki Rocka ridden
behind the net by Petravic and trying to escape. Manson pointto-oint. Lingren with a nice pass
to McKinnon on his goal. Pyle cannot shed hints. Pyle put it back behind the net. Petravic on it.
Great work by the Avalanche to keep the puck in the offensive end. But this places Benelum now
after the rans and goal. Granland. Good work by Nelson on the back check from behind. CC scales it
around. More than midway through the third period now in game seven. Two to one Colorado trying to
end a string of six straight losses in game seven. Pete D’Vor said about his stars, they’ve never
made an excuse with the injuries that they have to the people they have out. They just keep fighting
away and then they push themselves back in. Crowd wanted a penalty on McKinnon. They’re not
going to get it. Looked like a bit of a dive from here. Sean and McKinnon held each other
up. Duchain lost it. And now there will be a penalty on Duchaine as Nes went sprawling. Power
play for Colorado trying to build on a two to one lead approaching nine minutes to go in game seven.
Duchaine off for tripping. Colorado’s 0 for two tonight. They had a four-minute power play and a
double minor against Jamie Ben back in the first period. Mar down low. Landiskog had trouble with
it. Had some room to walk along the goal line. bouncing puck gobbled up by Landiskog. A
blind backhand. Cece has a great chance to clear and does. The way to defend
Colorado is to try and get them on the entry so they don’t get into the zone
and get on the wheel where they start   just roaming around the zone. Difficult
to do cuz here comes McKinnon with speed. Landisk played it back for Mar. Down to a minute 10 on the power play. Johnston
got a stick on it. Colorado retained possession. Mar McKinnon running out of room in the zone.
Pestered by Johnston. Land is gone. Mar broke his stick on a one-time. Now he has to defend.
Hints without a stick. Ropey hints couldn’t drag it around. Star stands want a penalty. They’re
going to get it. Hence went crashing into the goal. West McCaulay way behind the play calls a
tripping penalty. And meanwhile, Nous is faced down on the far boards. Number eight, Colorado.
A minor trip. McCauley’s got the best look at this even though he’s behind the play. The other
official Dan Oorc is down in the corner. Everybody chasing up on the ice when Mar’s stick explodes.
Hints who can really go out in the open ice. The penalty will be Mar’s right leg as he trips up
Hint. And then you see at the top of your screen, Nas lost his balance and went slamming into
the board. So Pints creates the fouron four. The Dallas penalty kill does their job again. And
as Bar wanders across the ice to the penalty box at the end of this, Dallas will have a minute
13 of power play time to try and tie the game. and the best defenseman in the NHL in the
pel box. Finalist again this year for the Norris Trophy of the best defenseman for
the fifth year in a row. Kale Mar. So it’s   Lindren out there in this fouron four with
Gerard the defenseman. Marchman using his big body to hold off Gerard. 745 to go. Two to one
Colorado. Four on four. Nichuskin drops it back. Lots of room. Gerard and cars off
a couple of sticks. They got sent   away from the goalfront by Lindell and
Gerard and the Avalanche will regroup. Duchain is out in 10 seconds. And then
the power play for Dallas. O’ Conor. Nice touch off for Kelly. Hands it back.
O’ Conor and a stop by Auterane’s out of the box at the Dallas power play now
for a minute 10. Taves sends it in. The crowd roaring sensing this could be the
moment. Dallas ties it. The opportunity on the power play, but it’s Okconor again short-handed.
He has help coming and it was Manson again, but Okconor got knocked off the puck. Numbers
the other way for the Stars. Hence stopped by Lindren. Well played by Lindred. Manson.
A good stick left on Duchain who got his stick back but sent it back to an empty
point. And the time ticking off the Stars man advantage. And off the clock here in the
third period. Ranson in again. Ranson scores. Off the skate of Gerard. The former Colorado   Avalanche star has scored twice
to tie it for Dallas. [Applause] Rantin comes with such power and speed. He
catches Lindren flatfooted. So he goes through that opening into the zone and the puck hits
the skate of Sam Gerard. Backto back goals in the third period for Mo Rantin. An amazing turn of
events. The X Avalanche has tied this game for his new team. A season that has been all over the map
for him and Rantin has made it 2-2 here in Dallas. He has come to life. Nine points in the last
three games and both goals here in the third period to tie it for Dallas. They’re against
the team for which he toiled for 10 years. Harley up to the line and cleared out by
Ranton who’s back out there with the top line for Dallas. The three fins hints in the middle
with Granlin on the other wing. Brock Nelson. Five minutes to go in game seven. The winner
to the second round to play the winner of the game seven tomorrow night between St. Louis and
Winnipeg. And the loser will be an outstanding team that does not survive the first round.
Rantin again by himself. They’re in the midst of a change. Hits there now. Bishell is out
there. Pete Gore as Bishell the third pair defenseman out at brunch time here and Petravic.
That one’s blocked by Manson. Interesting. The 20-year-old Bishell and Pedravic out there
together. Turnaround shot by Sean. Right on and handled by Blackwood. They all should
be compelling matchups everywhere you look. One more to be determined. Padravic. There’s
a penalty. Bodies went flying. There’s a penalty. And who is it going against? It’s going
against Colorado. Jack Drury called for holding. Mon 18. Wow. 413 to go and
Dallas goes to the power play. So after the last second power play goal
by Miko Ranton and tied the game at 22, Jack Drury’s taken the face off and he’s going to
get called for the hold here as he tackles Tyler Sean. [Applause] Dallas back to the power play.
Drury, one of the penalty killers in the box. And I guess you couldn’t get a more critical time here
and a chance for the Dallas power play. Our rules expert Dave Jackson agrees with the call as took
down Sean. Power play for Dallas. They just tied it. A man up now trying to take the lead down low.
Johnston scores. Wyatt Johnston with 356 to go. [Applause]   This power play is perfectly executed. Duchain
leaves the slot right on top of the crease and goes across the seam to Wyatt Johnston from the
acute angle. Johnston has the patience and poise of someone much more experienced. The youngster
fires it into the empty net. Two power play goals late in the third period. And stunningly, Dallas
is a couple of minutes away from a win. down two to nothing in this period with nothing going all
night long offensively. Johnston just 21 years old, already a prolific playoff performer. Had
the game-winning goal in game seven, the second round against Seattle a couple of years ago. Macar
walks in. Mar tries the wraparound and Cece went diving in front of the puck. Now the pressure on
Colorado and they’ll be pushing with 320 to go. Ranson in two goals, Johnston the other. The last
two on the power play. [Music] [Applause] Binger swept it away with Kelly on the for check.
Johnston his third of the series from Duchain and Rantin. Rantin has been in on all three
goals for Dallas. It has to be so painful for Colorado fans watching this. So you see Johnston
and Duchain. Duchain’s right in front of the net. As soon as it goes to Rantin, he pops out and
becomes available. Rantin goes down low. Now it becomes a twoonone in front of the net. And
when Coyle can’t deny that pass across the front, Johnston slams it into the empty net. And the
Dallas bench Pete Dbor is fist pumping as is Steve Spot. And the Stars have a 3-2 lead with
three left off the draw. Gerard that went wide. Branson in 10 years in Colorado. Duchain, the
other assist, eight plus years in Colorado. Good pressure by the ABS. 235 to go. We’ll keep
an eye on Blackwood in the Colorado net. Oh, Connor back to the line. Crisply across to Manson.
That hit bodies out in front. Drury got shoved down from behind by Harley. Jury barking at Dan
Oor. He got called for that holding penalty. He thought he was cross-checked down from behind and
seemed to have a point. Here’s McKennon now across the line. Two minutes to go. The extra attacker
on for Colorado. The net is empty. Lindell double team. The big guns are on the ice for the
Avalanche. The puck comes free. Beck Johnston. Good play by Nelson. Now Lickinan for Nis circles
back with 142 to go. McKinnon sent it right to Aer dropped it down and it’s played ahead but not out
by Lindell. Landiskog for McKinnon. McKinnon sent it toward the net off Lindell to the back wall.
A minute 25 to go. 3 to2 Dallas in game seven. They were down two to nothing. Have
scored three unanswered goals. Steel doing the work that the crowd appreciates
in the corner. Cece there as well. Nelson won the puck along the near wall.
Landiskog took in deeper for Nelson. Moved along by Landiskog. Under a minute to go.
Nis an easy one for Aer although nothing is easy under this pressure. [Applause] I actually like
that play by nature. They’re gassed. They need a timeout and he lobbs one in that has to play
and cover. So there’s a Colorado timeout. Yeah, they had all been out there the six ABS for at
least a minute 10. Jared Bednar looking for a faceoff win and play. You’ve got as many options
as you possibly can. Landiskog will get himself around the front of the net. You’ll probably see
Nuskin in the higher front of the net like between this the circles. Mar and McKinnon and Nate
just roaming around the zone. And for Dallas, it’s all about communication and defending
the zone that you’re supposed to be in. Dallas has not come back from multi goals
down to the third period all season long regular season or this series.
They’re 52.7 away from doing it. Nelson will take the draw with Sean. You’ve got
McKinnon on the left side here. If he gets it, he’s going to explode into the middle of
the ice if there’s any room available.   Nelson won it cleanly. Back to Mar has it back
for McKinnon. That’s off a stick off ringtones retrieved it. McKinnon with 42 seconds. Squeezed
by Aer with Nuskin at the goal mouth. Well, we saw a little glimpse of how this play
is going to in theory work for Colorado. If that puck comes to McKinnon, he’s going to go
straight across the slot. If it comes to Mar, he’s going to the middle. McKinnon will
dive up around the top of the circle for   the pass back or the shot from Mar. The traffic
will converge. It all works on the face off. McKinnon 35 seconds has it back from
Nous. Mar to McKinnon. Johnston won’t give him a passing lane. Nous pressured by Steel. Mard down low. Landisk and caram just 20 seconds
to go. McKinnon out in front and snatched by the scramles on, but look at the Dallas
defender. Both Lindell and Cece don’t move off the bottom of the circle. There’s no chase
of the puck and Auter finds it to glove it again. 15.2 to go. Colorado the last 11 shot
attempts. Mar kept it in. Free puck. Lindell didn’t get good on it, but Sean got
it out. Ranch it in again. Unbelievable. A legendary performance by Rantin
against his former team. [Applause] [Applause] In game six, Rantin had four points in the
second period. That was in a losing effort. This is unbelievable. Three goals and an assist
in the third period for Mo Rantin. I can’t tell you what he said when he skated around here, but
it was how about that Colorado in a different way. What an unbelievable satisfying feeling that must
be for Rantin. A devastating feeling for the ABS and Dallas down two nothing. Improbably does
this at home. This is unbelievable. Mo Rantin, you sign him to a$100 million contract, you get
this. It’s 2-1. Then you hope for more. It’s a four on four to a power play off Gerard and
it’s 2-2. He helps set up the power play goal by Wyatt Johnston the game winner to make it
3-2. And after Sean chips it off the boards, it’s all over. This is Mo Rantin’s
night. And the Moose has three and a helper in the third period. And
Dallas moves on to the second round. He had four points in the second period of game
six, [Applause] tying the NHL record for points in one period in a playoff game. Pence also
had four points in the same period. The only   teammates ever to do that. And now he has
four points in a period again. three goals, a hat-tick in the third period, and he
assisted on the Johnston power play goal that gave them the lead. How about Pete Dbor
now and 0 in game seven. 9 and0. You can’t do that. Except he’s just done it. his under his
underman Dallas Stars team a remarkable game seven third period player or coach who’s
won nine game sevens in NHL history and he’s 9 and0 and on his way to the second round
with an incredible come from behind Come here.

  1. Anyone else just notice how Blackwood intentionally goes out of his way to trip up Rantanen on the 2nd goal, and because of this he is on the wrong side of the net – causing Rantanen to fall and throw the puck around off Girards skate

Lol instant karma, I bet it wasnt gonna be called a penalty and Blackwood knew it.
